Madonna just got her very first nomination to be elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and we think it's very well deserved. However, she does have some stiff competition including John Mellencamp and the Beastie Boys, and only 5 of the 9 nominees will make it. So tell us — would you vote Madonna into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

yes. I don't care for her anymore, but she's been around forever. I think she deserves it.
1Would take the Beastie Boys and Mr. Mellancamp over her easily, but have to admit that music wouldn't be the same today without her. And I still loved her first ten years better than any of the rest!

10I think she should but I agree with the Beastie Boys comment, that I'd take them over her any day. I saw them last night in Chicago and they are so amazing and while Madonna is talented, they've got more talent in their gray hair (ha!) than her.

I still like Madonna, and think she deserves an award like this, even though she's definitely more pop, I agree.
14I don't associate her with rock and roll. She's an icon in her own right but she's not rock and roll. I don't mean to diss her, but she doesn't belong in the rock and roll hall of fame.
15For those of you who don't happen to live in Cleveland, the Rock Hall is more of a general music hall of fame as opposed to strictly "Rock". They've inducted a pleathra of Artists who would not be classified as Rock in any sense of the word.

37It's called the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but a lot of artists have been nominated that aren't typically considered rock, including rap, pop,and R&B artists. Trying to categorize and pigeonhole music is part of what's wrong with it today, in my opinion. (Radio stations don't just play good music, they play to a very specific audience....only R&B, only rock, only adult contemporary, only oldies, etc.) But that's just my opinion.

48I don't think she should be in the ROCK N ROLL Hall of Fame. Pop music Hall of Fame is more appropriate. I wouldn't consider her Rock n Roll. Pink Floyd, that's Rock n ROll. But, I do think she definately deserve the recognition.
49OMG, someone said that she is more rock and roll than a lot of rock and roll bands and is the original diva...I think Diana Ross is the original diva, and how can you compare Madonna with bands like Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Styx, Aerosmith, and countless others....even modern rockers, like STP and Nirvana (sorry they aren't around now) 3 Doors Down, Cold Play, etc...She sings and dances. big whoop.
But, if they let in any musicians (that aren't goingto be in country hall of fame) then yes...but PUH-LEASE--She is NOT ROCK AND ROLL. SHE IS SING AND STROLL.
