TMZ knows exactly why Britney lost custody -- she ignored the Commissioner at every turn.

Rewind to last month. L.A. County Commissioner Scott Gordon ordered Spears to do a number of things in order to maintain 50/50 custody.

Spears was ordered to meet with a drug counselor -- she didn't do it.

Spears was ordered to submit to drug testing -- she didn't do it.

Spears was ordered to enroll in parenting classes -- didn't do it.

Spears was also required to sign the judge's order -- again, she didn't.

And last Friday, Commissioner Gordon prohibited both Spears and K-Fed from driving the children unless they had a valid California driver's license. Gordon was pissed today when TMZ posted video of Spears cavalierly driving her kids around Malibu.

In short, Spears did everything wrong ... by doing nothing.

80% of me knows not to feel sorry for her because you reap what you sew ... but the other 20% feels bad for her, but more so for her kids. It's always heartbreaking when kids are involved in situations like these, but I'm glad they're young and HOPEFULLY there won't be any long-term repercussions.

She did this all herself. No one forced her to be a habitual abuser of drugs, or to drive with out a license, or to miss mandatory meetings.

This may sound silly but i really fell sorry for her and her kids. It is really a bad thing to watch someone go downhill like this, she clearly has lost grip of sanity and she must be suffering like hell. It is cruel to explore this situationany further and only criticize. I pray she ll find her way back - for her suffering will drag down her children too.

I don't feel sorry for her AT ALL! Thank goodness those kids will be taken away from her. I'm just nervous something might happen between now and Wednesday. She's really mentally unstable at this point, you just never know what she might do.

Those kids need to be protected from her. It's sad that they need to be protected from their own Mom. I feel sorry for them, NOT Brittney.

taticastro- that is really kind of you and very honest. I hope she can take a few years and put her life back together not for a comeback as a popstar but specifically to be a mom her kids can respect. From what I have seen, I don't know if there is any hope with her- she is really messed up and just did this to herself. Like I said above, I only feel sorry for her kids and hope they can get some normalcy like every child deserves.

The kids are already in Kevin's custody. I read that the lawyer waited until the previously scheduled handover today to file with the judge.

That's a standard precaution (when available) so the losing parent doesn't do anything drastic.

It's not that she happily drove them off early. She probably didn't know she was losing them when she handed them over today.

True, she did do this to herself, but I still feel sorry for her. Then again, I'm a total softy and have way too much compassion for people. So...lol.

Anyway, more so then feeling sorry for her, I do feel badly for her boys. I just hope that Kevin will surround them with people they're familiar with.

And, on a last note, I hope that this really does serve as a wake up call for Britney. She needs it.

I agree with sofi. I dont feel bad for her at all. I want to fly to california and convince a judge that Id be a better parent than both those two put together and bring them home a give them a normal life. Those poor babies. I pretty much already said how I feel about Brit Brit on other posts so I wont repeat myself.

yes i do this all stems from the being in the public eye proberly because she was pretty young, yes corse she has her own mind and has proberly made a ton of mistakes, but yes i feel really sorry for her because i think alot of people have had a hand in all of this. i know everyone basically sings kevins praises now but thouse people are proberly the ones who used to slag him off, so i dont really think anyone has a right to judge her or him in a nice or bad way, we dont know anything about these people and cant trust all the things that are printed. i just hope she gets herself happy and sorted so she can look after her kids

Absolutely not! She had tons of chances to get it together but she brought it on herself. My concern is with her boys at this time.

No I do not feel sorry for her at all. It is no shock that she lost her kids. I think she should of lost thm a long time ago. She doesn't want to be a mother and doesn't know how to be one. Britney is a messed up head case and only thinks of herself. I feel sorry for her beautiful kids and what they have gone through and will continue to go through.

Nope. Not a bit. She had every chance to get her act together but did nothing. One could argue that she's screwed up and it wasn't her fault, but I don't buy it. She had ample opportunity to get her life in shape but didn't do a damn thing about it.

I just hope those poor little boys are okay. I'm not sold on K-Fed, either, but I have to admit that he seems like a safer bet at this time.

Well, as much as I trash her, I DO feel sorry for her. Something has definitely gone wrong internally with her and everything she does is another cry for help. Unfortunately, there are small children involved in her acting out, and it's really frightening how long it took to take those kids away from her. What were the authorities waiting for? For her to accidentally kill them?

She is lazy when it comes to the custody of her children just like she was lazy when it came to her VMA performance.

Maybe she did to much E and doesn't have "happy" juice anymore? It happens.

Hills, we do know that a JUDGE feels Kevin is a good parent, as does the mother of his other children.

she was photographed driving with her boys...after being charged for driving without a license. A license she still doesn't have. The woman is an idiot and a menace. Maybe this will be the whack up the side of the head she needs to realize she needs help ASAP. If losing her kids doesn't do it, then maybe she deserves to lose custody.

Yup Whip, exactly, K Fed is the safer bet at this point...no one said he's perfect, by any means. But right now, he deserves a chance, just like Brit had and ruined.

When you are given tons of privileges, and you still continue to ruin your life, it is your fault. Reese had kids young, and she turned out so different.

A judge needs way more than just tabloid stories to make a decision such as this...I'm sure many of those people who were subpoenaed by K Fed's team were able to confirm the rumors and help the judge come to this decision.

I voted maybe because, at this point, I really don't know who to believe.

My complete sympathy lies with those 2 innocent children. I don't trust that Kevin's motives are solely for the well-being of the children and not for financial gain.

However, seeing what has transpired over the past several months shows that Britney has not had their best interests in mind.

If she truly needs a wake-up call to get her sh!t together and it's not just a case of who-cares-I'm-gonna-do-whatever-I-want-no-matter-what, then maybe this will be it.

I don't feel sorry for the no-name woman who puts her children by only caring for herself, therefore I'm not going to feel sorry for some famous person just because their famous.

Bottom line: You can't take care of your children, get OUT.

Wow, I just came to Popsugar now and look what's happened! Do I feel sorry for her? Aboslutely not! I am certain that no court gives the father custody of the children unless there are incredibly substantial reasons, such as the ones listed about by FB and Jillness. It's pathetic how she squandered away her children!

I am so sorry it is "our fault" we told her not to wear panties, to do drugs and drink around her kids, shave her head off, have a horrible VMA performance, drive around without a valid state licence with her children in the car, and walk off after hitting a parked car. That's the last time I play truth or dare with her!

I don't feel sorry for her because she got her kids taken away from her, but because she is seriously messed up in the head.
But she is a grown woman and she could've tried to get help. I know its not easy when you're not in a good place, but the fact that she was forewarned and she didn't care to do anything in her power to avoid this, or even if she wasn't going to follow the judge's rules or whatver she could have stayed on the down low. She didn't. That goes to show how much she cares about her children.
I feel sorry for her children, I know having one crazy parent messed me up, I don't want to think of what will happen to those kids especially with living with them media.
