Yesterday Kate Moss was spotted in London spicing up her favorite gray skinny jeans with a plaid button down. Kate always has her own style as seen here by only buttoning two buttons. In other Kate-related fashion news, the Daily Mail exposed how Barneys is making a killing by overpricing the model's line for Topshop. Apparently, American shoppers are paying more than double what UK shoppers do, even after taking the exchange rate into account. Of course, Kate's not letting any controversy get to her as she spent her afternoon at a pub with her assistant and stylist, presumably spending some of that Topshop cash.

I visited TopShop while in Barcelona and was very disappointed with Kate's line. Can't believe people are paying more than the exchange for essentially a hang tag.

None of you chicks on here would be caught dead buying a plaid Wrangler shirt like that. And yet some of you seem to think she looks good? She's dressing in character as a cowgirl. But since she's one of the world's best models, she makes it look hot. Well, I suppose that is a matter of opinion. But anyone else in that get-up couldn't pull it off. People would think a girl wearing that went cray-cray like Britney.

15I dont't think it's the old cowgirl look, per se. You don't see many cowgirls with fab grey skinny jeans, or that bag, or those aviators...I could go on but I think you get the point. Fashion always evolves from some source and if she's working some modern cowgirl look then more power to her for thinking of it and making it look enviably GOOD. She makes it work. I guess that's the thing about Kate. Her fashion sense is AMAZING. Regardless of what you (or I) may think of her personal life, her choices in men, her drug use... I could go on but you get the point.

Purely from a business perspective, why would Barneys carry the line without marking it up? They're not a charity, there purely to spread the love and collect the money for Topshop. I have no idea what wholesale arrangement they have with Topshop. I would assume that Barneys would get the line at a very heavy discount to Topshop's retail prices, even with the exchange rate working against them. Two times or 2.5 times wholesale cost is the expected retail markup. Less than that and you're not going to make any money. Three times cost is definitely not out of the question. If Barneys is marking it up 10 times or more than their wholesale cost, I'd consider that greedy...but if they can find buyers at that price, then good for them. No one is forced to buy. Personally, I wouldn't buy most Topshop stuff even if it cost me 99 cents, but if it makes someone happy to have it, I'm all for happiness.

25Silly people buying from Barneys when you can get it off line from topshop.com. I personally love love love Kate Moss and her style. She's a bad-ass. I don't love all the clothes from her line , but some I love and bought.
