Ben and Casey took their brother show to DC for another screening of their collective effort, Gone Baby Gone sponsored by Capital File. While it's Ben's directorial debut (and baby), it's a big movie for Casey too as leading man in the intense drama. It's a good thing these Boston boys have each other on the red carpet. Casey recently talked to Flaunt Magazine about assuming the starring role, but he also talked about fame, what he has learned from his big brother's mistakes and why he doesn't talk about his personal life. He said:
"Look at Paul Newman, Jack Nicholson — they never did that s***. People didn't know anything abut their f***ing lives. They saw their movies, but there were not like, interviews about their personal lives, and it was easier for them to get away. If you become too much of a character offscreen, it seems, it's harder for people to believe you as any character other than that onscreen. I feel like it only hurts you. Look at my brother, for example. Everyone knew who he was because he bought Bentleys and dated J Lo, and people didn't want to see his movies because they'd just read about him in Us Weekly. And that was really hard for him. He couldn't do period movies 'cause people were like 'This isn't that guy. This is Ben Affleck.'"
While I'm sure that Casey has (and will) make his own mistakes there's nothing like having a big brother there to watch and learn from. Plus, they're always there for you when you succeed as well, as these boys are hopefully enjoying right now. Awwww.

1I do agree he has a very good point, but Casey and is brother should stop talking about Jennifer Lopez or "Bennifer"or whatever ,i think that's annoying .That belongs to the past everybody has moved on now....

11I agree with Casey that great actors never talked about their personal lives in details. Ben couldn't get his mouth shut during the "Bennifer" period. Ben also couldn't tell a good script from a bad one as his movies and Project Greenlight both showed. Ben could learn from Jennifer Lopez. She has moved on. She talks about her projects with Marc Anthony and projects without him. She never give details about their life together and she doesn't even mention Ben Affleck.

13The reason he talks about it is because he is asked - and he is talking about the publicity damage , not her - he has never said anything about her - unless you read the garbage tabloids and internet sites. For Example....."Time Magazine" did a feature on Ben and not once did the interviewer ask Ben the direct question about Bennifer. The interviewer chose to ADD all his Bennifer / Tab comments in between Ben talking about "Gone Baby Gone". Why? Because these interviewers know how to get the readers interested or get a reaction of those who dislike Ben. These reporters could care less about "Gone Baby Gone". They want to sell Magazines. (Apparently Bennifer still interesting subject to the media).
I was highly disappointed, I just excepted more from "Time Magazine". Ben even turned the question back on the interviewer about (what happen to the integrity in journalism? ...The interviewer NEVER ANSWERED the question. Ben was referring to how reporters and media never checked facts before they printed false information about himself and Jennifer Lopez.

Ben has taken the blame for his bad movie choices. What else can he do? When asked in recent interviews, Ben has said he has now learned to say NO to things. He stated that he is now thinking for himself as far as his career is concerned. So far Ben's choices have been good -"Hollywoodland" and "Gone Baby Gone". Looks like Ben has learned a lesson. Ben is not in control of the final draft of any article about him. Blame the interviewer for not asking Ben about his AWFUL movie choices / why did he pick those projects? Ben can't help if the interviewer is more interested in Bennifer.
I think people are cherry picking these interviews. Any article about Ben directing “Gone Baby Gone” turns into (Bennifergate). I have been a Ben fan sense (Good Will Hunting, Armageddon, Chasing Amy, Changing Lanes, Broiler Room and Hollywoodland). I could care less about Bennifer…I'm so over it. I like reading about how Ben is moving on and expanding his career. As far as Ben's career…. Ben knows he has an up hill battle a head of him. I respect him for that.
Ben is making the best out of his situation. Ben is not giving up. No one should.
Bottom line....If you aren't a Ben Affleck Fan I guess Bennifer is the only thing that will catch your interest. I think that is what these magazine are hoping for. I guess it's working.

He managed to dodge questions for well over a year after they broke up. Now that he too realizes that his career is suffering he all of a sudden just has to answer questions about his played out Bennifer relationship because someone asked!?

He didn't just realize he career was suffering. Why do you think he's be out of the lime light for so long besides supporting roles in Hollywoodland and Smoking Aces and filming GBG. He knew he needed to get away, get out of the public eye (though getting married and having a baby kept the tabs after him and JG). He's said over and over again that he's made poor choices.
Heck, I even read an article that in which he talked about all the mistakes he's made and what he's learned from them and what we was doing to change. The roles he's taken since and him trying to keep his family life private now show he's learned from that relationship and from getting caught up in the Hollywood big budget film making and $$ when maybe that wasn't what he wanted to be at all.
The oversaturation of "bennifer" in the tabs did affect his career (and hers), but it wasn't the ONLY thing to blame. Poor choices and acting definitely played a role and he's admited that. Gigli bombed because it sucked. Mr and Mrs Smith was a fun movie - you can't compare the 2 movies or the 2 relationships. Even JLo was on TV recently and she was asked about how she's made her life more private since "those" days.
I'm not saying this because I'm some huge fan of his. I love the Affleck family, but am the first to admit neither JG or Ben are the best actors out there. I don't see anything wrong with Casey talking about why he keeps his life outside of movies private and using Ben and JLo as an example of exactly why actors should. He has a point about the older actors and how no one knew anything about them back in the day.

J.Lo and Ben were very in love and got swept up in it but it was the honeymoon stage. I think eventually (if they had stayed together) they could be just as chill as Jenn G. and Ben are or not, whatever they choose.
