Elle's gorgeous women of Hollywood celebrated themselves last night, but the night was about more than just showing off their red carpet looks. As each of the ladies took their turn at the podium, they expressed their gratitude for the award, their thoughts on Hollywood, and their sense of admiration for their fellow winners. Here are highlights:
- Lauren Bacall: "It's great that the focus is on women, who are functioning, who are all working, who are productive. I've always been in favor of that, and I've always known that women are capable of going as high as they want to go."
- Amy Adams: "I'm so in awe. I'll be the person sneaking in back to try to get a photo."
- Diane Lane: "There's a lot more opportunity for young women, and that's great, and I like to think that I was there to help pave a few stones. It's wonderful to have all the different stages of a woman's life acknowledged and appreciated."
- Scarlett Johansson: "There's this idea (Hollywood) is this deep, dark place. In reality, I think that it's a reflection of society in general."
It's always wonderful when strong women are recognized for their talents, but it's even more fabulous that they love sharing the honors.

2♥ Diane Lane!
3Diane Lane, please go back to that beautiful cut and color you had in the movie "Unfaithful". All these dark shades and short cuts age you and you are so freaking beautiful. Don't listen to these wackjob hairstylists. You look amazing with blonde shoulder length hair.
4I agree Sugar Bubbles, I liked her hair back then
5scarlette is so ugly with out make up, with make up she looks so plain janish. Am I the only one here that thinks that this actress is overated, have you seen her in the black dalia, she is such a horrible actress.
6dye bak your hair Di.
7Scarlette looks gorgeous here
8I agree that haircut really ages Diane! Her old hairstyle was way better and prettier!

12"There's this idea (Hollywood) is this deep, dark place. In reality, I think that it's a reflection of society in general." -scarlett j.-
you are so, like, intellectual, scarlett. the society is sooo dark, with, you know, all the war going on, like, that place in middle east.
whatever pretentious twat. and believe me i'm sure people don't see hollywood as a deep, dark place considering it is the same city that lindsay and paris hilton call as home.
13oh and i forgot to add: b*tch please! [snaps fingers]
14um pinkflats are u trying to steal my word TWAT
i reserve that word for lindsay and brit
scarlett looks pretty tho WHY DID SHE STEAL RYAN he is from ..seth rogen's neighbourhood
hahaha
15SCARLETT LOOK BEAUTIFUL! AS ALWAYS
16Work it, Scarlett!!!!
17Pinkflats, you go girl, LOL
18i know right tiabia, this girl is trying to sound like she is all intellectual or philosophical with her reference to the society in general.
i mean if anything there is the idea that hollywood is the place for stupidity and lack of common sense. in reality, i think that is NOT the reflection of the society in general. like i have the common sense to call bullsh*t **cough, scarlett johansson, cough** when i see it.
19reflection of society huh? well, if it's such a reflection, then where are all the women of color? i'm sure there are plenty that are making contributions to Hollywood but i don't see them on that podium (except for Wanda Sykes...definitely deserved!).
grrrrr...society is not lily-white Elle and many different types of women add richly to it so please recognize them more!!!
20at first glance, I only recognize Scarlett Johansson.
21cool event if you were a celeb..
22Yay for the ladies!
23
24Definitely Scarlett, Hollywood is totally this realistic place that reflects all the different facets of society and all the different people that exist within it.
25God, does she want to sound any more pretentious? I guess she thought if she dropped the word society in her speech then it would sound more intelligent. I swear, I read her comment and cringed.
