Cate Blanchett took Elizabeth: The Golden Age abroad Friday for the Rome Film Festival. First stop for Cate was a photocall for the film where she glowed in blue and gold. Cate then took her look up a notch to walk the red carpet in a dress that made her standout but not necessarily in a good way. Cate has been reflecting on bringing her famous character back to the big screen and while in Rome admitted the role would have been pretty difficult to turn down. She said, "It would have been perverse to refuse to play in the sequel. It's undeniable that Elizabeth I is an extraordinary woman in history."
We're happy Cate came back as Elizabeth even if the sequal wasn't as good as the first. To see more of Cate, sadly without her costar Clive Owen just read more

OMG, That black & green dress makes her hips look so 1850's child bearing.. OYIKES.
I think she actually pulls off the black & green dress beautifully! I would have given her more delicate shoes, I think the clunky shoes really add volume and chunk. With more delicate shoes it would have balanced.
are u mad ? she looks great. thr dress is so graceful
u're right dcstar
She looks so good
she looks preggers in that blue dress.
She's just so incredibly elegant and gorgeous! I mean how many people can pull off a dress like the black/green one? She can!!!
I think she's pregnant.
Black i was also thinking about that...she seem fuller around the middle
I'm not feeling that black and green dress. The bodice looks like it's squishing her boobs and the bottom half is not figure flattering.
She is so gorgeous. I love her. And I too am a little suspicous about a pregnancy. Nothing like a good bump watch
I just love this girl, and almost every movie she has been in. Not sure about these outfits, but she looks good no matter what.
I like the concept of the green and black dress, but it seems like it could be a lot more flattering on Cate with a few adjustments (sitting higher on the bust, less volume on the skirt considering how skinny she is). I agree with DCStar about the shoes.
the blue dress is flawless
but the other is... u know what im goin 2say
Well...
She pulls it off better than anyone I know could, but...
What. The effity-eff. Is that THING she's wearing?
EGADS.
Thank you! I'm glad someone else thought maybe she was trying to hide something in that blue dress! Doesn't it look like some of the ones JLo has been wearing.
As for the green and black dress... I think it was a bold choice, but something about it just doesn't quite work.
I do not like either dress but I would much rather wear the blue one than the other one.
i agree with whoever said that she should have picked a more delicate shoes to go with the black and green, but my godness this woman is a vision in anything she wears. she's always so refreshing to see on the red carpet because actresses tend to go to the safe route so to avoid being in the fashion don't list, but sometimes an actress who takes fashion risks and looks good doing so is appreciated by fashion critics more than the "usual, safe" look. hmmm...maybe the key word here is "looks good doing so" because i can only name a few actresses who can actually pull the green and black dress so maybe THAT'S why few actresses go down the route of fashion forwardness. hail cate the great!
You know, I love her in that black/green dress. Absolutely stunning.
Good god, that's a hideous dress. Just because it's not a safe choice, and she gets kudos for that, doesn't mean that it actually looks GOOD. There are plenty of people who take fashion risks and fail miserably, and I'd throw this ugly black and chartreuse monstrosity into that pile.
i think what seperates cate blanchett from the others (and why i applaud her for it in spite of how horrendous the dress is to others) she always, ALWAYS looks like she is the one wearing the dress and not the other way around. every dress she wears in the red carpet, be it beautiful or hideous, she owns it. she could have simply be the runway model wearing that dress on the runway and walked straight off to a red carpet event. and i wouldn't know the difference. that, my friend, is why cate deserves the kudos she gets from being fashion forward, whether she fails in doing so or not.
Absolutely, hands down one of our greatest living actresses. She can do no wrong in my book.
I love Cate she is incredible. Iam not a big fan of the black/green dress but she still looks great in it. Shes freakin Cate Blanchett she could wear anything and still be stunning.
She looks stunning in both, esp the green and black. I just saw Elizabeth and it was fantastic! Even my hubby liked it and I really dragged him there. It was def just as good as the first. The colors, the acting, the costumes, continuation of plot....
That witch, lainey gossip lady, said she was pregnant. She's been wrong before however like with Jennifer garner, Lucy Brorossso (--you know the nobody that got knocked up by Matt Damon). Like JLo, just have to wait a few more months and we will be able to tell whether its either true or not.
She looks classy; but her shoes need to be replaced by something simpler.
Eek! Cate can pull off anything - she's gorgeous - but she can't pull this off. On the other hand, any other person on the planet would look a million times worse in it....
she looks really good!
Not loving her fashion choices.
I was also thinking that her wardrobe of late looks like she might be trying to hide something... who knows though.
the girl needs some COLOR!
This black/green dress plays a mean trick on her! It is not her best look!
ISH
I like and don't like the dress, but despite that she looks great and I love the shoes.
