Madonna has definitely been keeping fit at her gym in London. But she's going to have to gear up more than that if she's going to battle a coalition of 67 human-rights groups who have just been granted permission to challenge her adoption of David Banda. A judge in Malawi has just given them the power to help him decide whether the Material Girl is a fit mother. Here's more:

In his Wednesday ruling in the Malawian capital, Judge Andrew Nyirenda said the human-rights organizations could be viewed as "friends of the court."
The groups can therefore pursue the application for a full review of an interim 18-month custody order that allowed Madonna to take the child out of the country. The groups' members can also be party to the assessment of the pop singer's fitness as a mother.
"We want to be joined as a party to the assessment because we have a lot of legal issues we want to raise," Justin Dzonzi of the coalition told reporters last month.
The groups had argued that the Malawian government cut legal corners to "fast-track" the adoption, and said regulations must be followed to protect children, the Associated Press reports.
It's very vague at the moment but we're hoping that whatever they decide is best for David. Hopefully that isn't uprooting him again to send him back to an orphanage! If so it would be heartbreaking for Madonna. Besides, she is already dealing with the fact that her concert on NBC failed big time. She doesn't need more bad news.

Watch this child get sent back to the orphange..that was his father's biggest fear and it is a very real possibilty. I may not be the biggest Madonna fan, but if the option is an orphange in a third world country or a mansion in London or Beverly Hills. I am thinking that may be a no brainer. Its not like O.J., Micheal Jackson or Jeffery Jones is trying to adopt.
1I can't believe this. I really feel bad for her. Dittoing IMA too.
2This is so ridiculous. Can't they see she is only trying to provide the best for this child?!
xoxo
3This is ridiculous.....what about Angie?? how come nobody questioned her adoptions? I'm sure Madonna just didn't kidnap the child...come on! I feel bad for her, the child is better off with Madonna than in that orphanage!
4as much as i dont like Madonna...Im so sure that an orphanage is a 'better fit' than a family that can give it a better life than most people could!
5SOme people just dont make sence to me!
6yup, just take the kid away from his new home & fly him back around the world again. I'm sure a tug-of-war of David is the best thing for him...
7and 67 Human Rights organization?!?! Are you f*cking kidding me?!?! Ther eare WAY bigger issues in Africa that need dealing with. Thier time & money would be better spent elsewhere, IMO
whoa...sorry for the crappy spelling there
8this is so so so rediculous... this poor child! imagine what it's going to be like for him when they snatch him away from his comfortable new home and put him in some foster care or an orphanage for the next 3 years while they figure this out!
9this reminds me of my mom's saying: NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED....
10This is sickening shes not unfit sure we all may not like her or agree with her veiws but damn she takes care of her kids and hes better off with any celeb then he is in an orphanage! Cant the dad just take the kid back and give him to her? Geez thats so ridiculous!
11"a coalition of 67 human-rights groups" challenging Madonna???
Un-freakin-believable!
12It's ridiculos. What's happening to the world????? A mother, famous and rich wants to addopt a child that cans die anytime soon by some disease and people don't let it happen??? WTF????

13How can these 'human-rights' groups even think to say that they are doing this because they have the baby's best interests at heart? Yeah, taking him away from a family that obviously loves him & putting him in an orphanage where he's lucky he'll have enough to eat is definitely the best thing for him. What a bunch of as*holes.
14Are those the values of the new world order????

15In my opinion, the best thing for David would be to let him stay with his new family (Madonna, her hubby and children)..and not uproot him, and send him to an orphanage.
16This is just crazy, in my opinion, and very sad. But, it's not over yet!!
This is just so stupid. This child is now in a loving secure home. Why do other people have to get involved in others people business. If the government of Malawi decided to bend the rules for Madonna that is their choice. Nobody has said that Madonna made them change the rules for her. The Malawian government can do what they want in their country. Madonna is not my favorite person but what is so bad about adopting a child and wanting to give him the best life possible. The problem is that people are jealous(I can not believe I am taking the you are jealous stance) and if they could do the same they would.
17This is THE stupidest thing I have ever heard. I don't even care for her that much, but saying she is not a fit mother? Puh-lease.
18I think it should be challenged. I don't see that Madonna is an unfit mother, but the line should be drawn in celebrity treatmeant when it comes to another human life! BUT as a second thought - if those people really are thinking about the little boy, they should have pushed it before she brought him to her palace, but since she dragged him there before anything could be said - they should just drop it. He's there, no sense in making him go all over the place and chancing him getting traumatized and confused.
19i think madonna has shown that she cares for her children over and over! she doesn't go out and party and do drugs, she hangs out with her husband and kids! why oh why would anyone want to take away this wonderful life madonna wants to give him? sure, he'll be a celebrity but i think she protects her children pretty well. i barely know what her kids look like.
20Sure it's horrible if they uproot the child because some rules were bent, but if rules are being broken to accomodate the rich or famous, then they need to look into it. Otherwise their country will become a magnet for sickos with cash who want to fast track buying a kid.
Madonna has spent her whole career creating controversy for profit and telling the rest of the world to F - off, so she shouldn't be surprised that somebody has some concerns about her sincerity or motives. Hurting Madonna's feelings is the least of my worries on this one.
21This is ridiculous.....what about Angie?? how come nobody questioned her adoptions?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Angelina went to an Adoption Center looking for an african baby and they advised her to go to Ethiopia, since their adoption process in that country is more organized, legalized and faster.
Maddona WAS advised to not adopt in that country because it could be difficult. (and now we see why).
22But I really think that she fell for this boy and people are after her because she is MADDONA. Its so unfair, I hope this thing end well.
If this child goes back, I will cry.
23I don't care for Madonna AT ALL.. but if anyone thinks they can give that little boy a better life they are CRAZY!!
24Yeah, of COURSE they fast tracked the adoption. But as much as I cannot STAND Madonna, she is a more than fit mother. I would say that she's actually quite a wonderful mother and has done a fantastic job with Rocco and Lourdes.
25In her mad rush to prove she's as "spiritual" as Angelina, Madonna made the mistake of rushing into adopting baby David; she should have done better research on the subject. First of all, here's why some of the human rights groups are pissed:
David Banda IS NOT and ORPHAN. He has a living father. If Madonna were merely concerned about David's welfare, she should have just sent money into a trust account to take care of his expenses and healthcare.
By the way, David's father is now expecting ANOTHER child with a NEW girlfriend (not a wife)! The whole situation is really ridiculous.
However, the real insult here is that Madonna's "spiritual" aid of the poor state of Malawai is apparently contingent upon the people allowing their children to be subverted to the teachings of Kabbalah (against their knowledge). In essence, Madonna and her backers are pulling the old "bait and switch" as she gives them money and help, in return for adding converts to her religion. Remember, that Kabbalah is a cult offshoot of the Hebrew faith, and is not considered mainstream Judaism. Pretty "spiritual" huh?
I thought it was insane how she was pushing her new Kabbalah Kids book to a bunch of starving AIDS orphans, who cannot READ, but don't even have enough food in their stomachs to barely EXIST.
People, get a clue. David would be better off going back to Malawi, and having Madge cover his expenses. That's what a real Samaritan would do. And Madonna, for heaven's sake, why don't you adopt a REAL ORPHAN!
Love is the Law, Love Under Will!
26I really think Madonna should have thought about this more thoroughly, and someone on her team should have known this would be a problem. David shouldn't be uprooted now that he's with her, but she did adopt from a country whose adoption laws state there must be an 18-month adoption trial period IN THEIR COUNTRY. She bent the rules, and that should be exposed. The country really wants their culture preserved, especially when a child has no parents to learn the customs from.
But the country needs to clear up their own laws and learn from this experience instead of moving him again after making a mistake - they let Madonna adopt him and let David get on a plane, and I believe what's done is done. Those 67 agencies should be revising the adoption laws instead of going after a case that has already gone through.
27David's father got remarried recently.
Babalon states what I've been saying all along. Madonna's "aid" is wrapped in mandatory Kaballah teachings at the orphanages. Like most religions and cults, there is probably some aspect that tells followers they get great blessings or a ticket to heaven or some other perk for leading others to the "faith". So by building these orphanages she is probably trying to secure her spot in the afterlife. If it was just about caring for orphans there are other agencies she could have donated to who are already doing that work and lack funding. Instead, she is building new Kaballah orphanges. Like everything she does, it's about her.
28This is why I'm not giving to any human rights groups any more. They waste sooo much f---ing time. Amnesty being the exception generally. Seriously, wtf? Is this an attempt to raise money? Because I feel like they're just wasting it.
29I think the Human Rights groups should focus on the adoption practices as a whole in Malawi. David is already with Madonna, and uprooting him once more can't be good for him. Also, I am positive that Madonna will encourage David to learn about his culture and his roots. With Madonna as a mother, he will have the best education, and a world of opportunities. He may be able to return to his home country and aid other orphans/impoverished children as an adult.
I do think that fast track adoptions for the famous/wealthy should be looked into, but in this case, what's done is done. Leave Madonna alone and let her focus on raising her children. I think she is a caring mother, who has always managed to keep her kids out of the spotlight. I hope they don't drag her past behavior into this...that would be so unfair.
30agree Skye.
Thr reason she chose Malawi, is clear if you watched the G-8 concert. The 18 yr old African girl that was onstage with Madonna during her performance was from Malawi, and they said the Live aid concert that Madge participated in back in 88' was the reason she was alive.
I think madonna is a good person, and a good mom, Lourdes is a classy litlle chica.
31dulceskye, the fact that we think it's fast track may be wholly inaccurate. like aj and meg ryan, madonna may have filed in advance. a lot of international adoptions take months, not years which is a major reason why so many people adopt from adopt. they want to be parents now, not 3 years from now, and they prefer very young children.
there are MANY children in the U.S. foster care system, but many find it incredibly cumbersome and many would prefer healthier kids or kids who have been through less drama in their lives. i'm not saying it's right, but it is a fact. i can assure you that there are very few healthy, caucasian, non-abused children under the age of 3 in the u.s. i can't blame people for their preferences. i don't consider myself or most people well-equipped financially and emotionally to raise a child who has dealt with a lot of abuse, and the greater injustice is to take a child that you won't be able to provide for completely. i'm sure many of you disagree and that's fine.
32It actually does make sense. No point in trying to give a child a better life that you really cant.
33This is beyond stupid.
those people should be ashamed of themselves.
34I say take David back and give Madonna an ugly, disease ridden baby if she is so hell bent on adopting from a 3rd world country and bettering a child's life.
35...right on ShouldBeStudying! -- now, get back to work!!! why are all these richer-than-thou stars such crappy dressers? she looks frumpy and uncomfortable. the pants are okay, the boots so-so, but that riduculous "look-at-me" upper-ensemble is making a statement allright, a big freaking question-mark of a statement...
36...oops, I guess those are sneakers, and they're not so-so, they're hideous -- and wtf is w/ that puffy coat? I wouldn't wear the one my mother gave me 4 x-mas' ago, and my mother gave it to me, for chrissakes...
37what kind of a human rights organization doesn't want kids adopted? as if the orphanages in 3rd world countries are models for infant care. that is some kind of f*cked up.
38This is ridiculous.
39absolutely ridiculous this whole thing! they are taking this matter beyond extremes!!! Puleeesse!!!
40I'm not sorry for madonna...i'm sorry for david. Hopefully it turns out ok for him. Madonna can kiss my....
