Ethan Hawke, Marisa Tomei and Philip Seymour Hoffman hit the red carpet and after party to celebrate the premiere of their new movie Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. Seeing Marisa and Ethan feels like a blast from the past, but we've got to give them credit — Marisa's pocketed dress is fab and Ethan cleaned up well (finally). Sheryl Crow also stopped by to check out the movie before she hit the Keep a Child Alive Black Ball. The movie is a thriller about the aftermath of robbery that goes wrong. Sounds like it could be the perfect Halloween movie for those of us who aren't quite brave enough for 30 Days of Night.

12nikodarling, I was just going to comment on phillip seymour hoffman's old appearance. I just got thinking, why is it that nobody cares or makes a point out of it when a man looks sooooo much older than his real age? He could pass for 50-60 in these pics.
If a woman looked that much older, she'd be taunted and get very little work.
I just don't get it; a man can look like that and be in demand and a woman has to hang onto her youth as long as possible and still struggles to get work. And even women who look great are critized for having a couple smile lines when they are actually smiling and are punished for not looking like teenagers their whole lives.
13Here I go again: in these pics Ethan Hawke looks oldish and a bit haggard and he's sporting some wrinklage. But Marisa Tomei and Sheryl Crowe have young smooth looking skin but are considered old women.

15i saw this movie at a screening a few weeks ago. sidney lumet at his best. hawke steals the show from hoffman. it really cranks up in the third act and the men will be happy to know, marisa shows off her breasts in several scenes. the opening scene is a hardcore sex scene between marisa and phillip. i will be traumatized for life.
