- To stop the spread of rumors, Owen Wilson has apparently taken to using public restrooms with the door open so people can see that he's not doing drugs in his stall. For most people, it would be the opposite that made them more comfortable. — Page Six
- JK Rowling and Warner Bros., the producers of the Harry Potter films, have filed a lawsuit against a small book publishing firm that seeks to print a Harry Potter encyclopedia, because Rowling herself plans to release a similar work in the near future. That firm probably should have known better than to get anywhere near the HP cash cow. — AP
- Carrie Underwood's new album Carnival Ride topped the music charts this week, selling 527,000 copies. Hit album, hot guy — life is looking pretty good for Carrie right now. — Billboard
- Rapper Da Brat was arrested yesterday in Atlanta and charged with assault after allegedly hitting a waitress at Jermaine Dupris' Studio 72 club with a bottle. She's trying hard to live up to that name. — TMZ
- Dog the Bounty Hunter has issued an apology after a tape surfaced in which he used racial slurs to refer to his son's girlfriend. A&E, the channel which produces Dog's show, has suspended production until an investigation is completed. Looks like he's in... the dog house. — People

blah blah.
1sad but I do LOVE Carrie!
2Da Brat! Haha oh no!
3And poor Dog! I like him!
I can't really say as I blame Owen. It sounds like a LOT of overblown stories have been circulating about his supposed suicide attempt and life surrounding it. I'd probably pee right onto a test stick in front of a jury for a few months just to be an ass.
4HP IS a cash cow, however the characters and content belong to J.K. Rowling. WB has a contractual agreement with JKR to produce certain kinds of content, product, promotions, etc. JKR probably has stipulations and approval rights as to how her property is used. As for the small publishing firm, they should've gone through the appropriate licensing and publishing channels in order to secure the approval and rights to move ahead with their idea. It doesn't sound like that happened.
5Poor Dog????? WTF....poor dog he got caught using racial slurs or poor dog his show got canceled.
6You are very correct bizzybee.
7please people don't call me racist, but I don't think it is right when black people use that word either..
8letsgetloud21, you are absoultely correct....black people should not be using the "dreaded word" either.
9I know,it really bothers me when you that word when you are just walking around,I used to work on a bus in the inner city and I heard that word all the time..I think it is wrong..
10on a church bus
11It bothers me that someone taped his phone call without his consent, regardless of what he said.
As far as what he said goes, I also think it's wrong to possibly cancel his show based on a private conversation. The story was made public, if people want to let it die by not watching it, so be it.
12I agree greggie..
13Well, it was a voicemail he left for someone....so he knew he was being recorded. I was thoroughly disgusted listening to him saying that word OVER and OVER and him saying that if his son continued to date that girl, he could no longer work for him.
14Disgusting.
Where did you see that it's a voice mail? Everything I've read said it was a conversation with his son.
15I was going to give Dog the benefit of the doubt....and then I heard the conversation. He said that he didn't want any Ns to come over and here him say Ns, and then take away everything he had. He said that if his other son "ever brought one home", he would say "F--K You!".
That isn't just a slip, that is really, really, really unacceptable.
16Woops,
It shoudl be "hear" instead of "here".
17He was pretty much justifying not having any black people in his home or dating a family member, because he uses the N word, and doesnt' want anyone to hear him (instead of just correcting his own language).
18I bought Carries cd and love it!
19It was a conversation with Tucker and it should never have been put out like that, it's not like he stood in Times Square and said it. I'm not even bothered by it cos you all know millions in the US say it in private while on the outside they preach equality and solidarity. He was acting like a lot of other racist people do behind closed doors. Anyway what do you expect from an uneducated, mullet wearing, braid wearing, feather in the hair wearing murderer who wears black wife beaters and looks like he smells like the inside of a dirty dustbin. please next!!!!!!!!!!
20And like millions of other americans he doesn't want their child bringing a black person home. Is this new, it's just he's the only pseudo-celeb caught saying it, and Paris Hilton is widely known for talking smack about blacks but I don't see anyone freaking out about that and she wields more influence.
21Dog left the recording on his son's voicemail and his son turned it over to the media.
22I'm just over celebs being busted for racism.
23i think it was publicity stunt, he even said in the tape, i dont want this sold to the enquirer. bad publicity is the best publicity, look at britney and paris.
24i never thought about it that way flutterpie, but you have a point. And now insert Al Sharpton on the picture calling for a meeting with Dog. ugh Al makes me sick.
25" I'm not even bothered by it cos you all know millions in the US say it in private while on the outside they preach equality and solidarity. He was acting like a lot of other racist people do behind closed doors."
Exactly...he was acting like a lot of RACIST people do.
I myself am not a minority of any kind. But when people say things like this and no one says anything, it is making a statement that it is ok. When everyone thinks hate speech is acceptable, then it leads to violence.
It has happened to friends of mine, it happened to Matthew Shepherd, it happens. The effects of group mentality on hate make it escalate into violence.
26BTW, I don't think racist remarks should be illegal...but I think that as a society we need to let others know that it isn't ok.
27Good points, Jillness.
28Thanks, JennaV!
29I could be wrong, because I heard this on my morning radio show, but I think Dog has requested an audience with Sharpton not the other way around. And Sharpton hasn't responded yet.
30Sharpton responded he said he is open to meeting Dog, what will that resolve? Dog will say the normal thing all say, the i'm sorry, i'm not like, blah blah maybe get "involved" with a charity or whatever and it will blow over and he'll be getting his cheque next week while tucker gets kicked to the curb. He will leave the same man he was before and you know even he ain't saying them he's thinking them. I've been a victim of racism all my life, i lived in a farming communit y back home and it doesn't come harder than that, but I'm personally tired of people causing a fuss wehn stars do this, it only creates more publicity for them and they rebound sqeaky clean with more money than their victims. i used to be one of those but now I'm like you know what it's a reality and no matter how famous or nice someone is on-screen or in photos or in interviews there are a lot of people out there who suck. And the sad thing is racism is o na serious rise in America and in Europe, even after people's efforts and people speaking out. It sucks but it's reality.
31"And the sad thing is racism is o na serious rise in America and in Europe"
I agree, but I don't think that just accepting it is going to help anything. We are all a part of our sculpting our society. I can't help but be idealistic. I think so much of racism is rooted in what parents say...AND what kids hear from their peers.
Goodness spreads just as easily as hate, but for some reason people aren't as willing to share it.
32I'm so glad Owen is getting himself better!
33I'm happy for Owen
34I hope Owen continues his recover and NEVER relapes. He's too talented and even though I don't know him, he's still human and worth something in life...nevermind his career.
