Glamour's Women of the Year 2007 came together at NYC's Lincoln Center last night to celebrate each other. Jennifer Connelly's dress was a fabulous color while the first ever Girl of the Year, Abigail Breslin looked perfectly appropriate. Mariah performed for the big event while some of TV's finest doctors, Taye and Eric Dane (and Chief), were among the men out to honor all these fabulous ladies. The issue's cover girl Jennifer Garner celebrated her night off from Broadway and pulled off a dress that most women could not, but didn't walk the red carpet with Ben. In the magazine Jennifer talks about why that is. She said:
We’ve worked really hard not to be one of those couples who are constantly in the limelight. In the past we’ve both been the kind of people who go along with things—if you’re supposed to be photographed together, you don’t question it. But how does that help your relationship? So now we refuse to walk the red carpet together: It’s a way of not condoning the attention. Plus, it just feels silly to be in that situation with him: Ben was nominated for a Golden Globe [for 2006’s Hollywoodland]. I remember being photographed next to him and thinking, This is ridiculous. You’re not some actor; you’re my husband.
While I fully appreciate her persepective, I can admit that I would love to see them walk together every once in a while. Even (or as it turns out, especially) without, they're certainly one of the cutest and most real marriages in Hollywood. A big big congrats to all the wonderful and inspiring women both winning the honors and attending the event last night. Claps, claps.

2Great post Molly! I wish we could see Ben and Jennifer walk on the red carpet together, that's the one place I'd really love to see them together, hand in hand! However, since I adore Jen, I'm going to respect that this is how they do it. She looks beautiful even though that's not my favourite dress for her. I was thrilled to see a picture or her and Victor together - they have such a special relationship.

5God, what a U-Turn for Ben to go from J-Lo to someone as sensible and grounded as Jennfer. Pinkberry, what we see everyday are paparrazi shots of them going about their daily business, they can't protect themselves from that.
6I see her point about the red carpet, but having said that I don't think it could hurt them to do that together occasionally, even from the point of view of just being there to support each other and say "yeah, he/she did this and I'm here holding their hand because I love them", no biggie...
7I do admire her for wanting to keep her relationship private, but they're so low key anyway i don't think walking the red carpet together would ruin that.

I respect ben and Jen on their decision as well but every single time??? I just think that's stupid....there's nothing wrong with showing support for one another every now and then! And yes, I understand he's there to support her but holding her hand down the red carpet is not going to take away from her limelight! I think people have realized that Ben has changed and it's time to accept that's he is no longer part of Bennifer

21I agree with mswindang. Don't really get Jenn and Ben's logic, and think it's kind of weird. Although I like them as a couple, I fear they're not 100% solid. Jennifer Connelly looks freakin gorg and she's wearing the same awesome shoes from her Letterman appearance. LOVE those shoes and the dress. I also love Paul's suit...he's stylin in the black suit black tie combo. Not every guy could pull that off.

30Jen has to be tactful in what she says, but I think she was trying to say that she and Ben don't have to showoff for the cameras just because they are on the red carpet. They are a couple whether or not they walk the red carpet together or separately and they don't have to validate that by posing for the paparazzi.
I like seeing them as a couple as much as anyone, but if they choose not to be on the red carpet together, that is their decision and as a fan, I will respect. I think they do have a solid marriage and don't need to show-off to prove it. That being said, Ben is gorgeous!

33Its really stupid. Come on now! How many couples in Hollywood walk the red carpet without a fuss? Plenty! There is definately something off with these two, either its their massive "egos" playing to the media or just plain "paranoia" with respect to their relationship. Nobody cares at this point. It's not like Ben is a hottie single man. He's married! Nobody cares. Not to mention they are both parents. They need to get over themselves. She does not have Hollywood presence and she is not going to suddenly get it by being with Ben either. It's a nice business arrangement if you can get it.
34P.S. Ben looks miserable, like he's ready to explode beneath his cool exterior and Jen's dress is something hideous, sorry. Those colors on that fabric makes absolutely no sense. Those colors belong on a quilt on your grandmother's sofa, okay. Those colors don't belong at a GLAMOUR event meant for glamorous girls.
35I don't get it either. I could see if it's a movie premiere or major awards show and one of them would have to walk the line giving interviews. But, at an event like this, I don't see why there's an issue. I don't think they have to walk together to show support for one another, but many other couples who are in the tabs all the time ( like Brad and Angie) walk to red carpet together. It's not the award shows that bring attention, it's the photogs that are constantly following her anf Violet around.
Love JC's dress. I think Jen Garner's dress is okay, but with all the recent pics we've seen of her promoting The Kingdom, she could have done better.
