Hayden Panettiere stopped off at a newsstand after her morning workout in LA yesterday. While we've been waiting to see how our favorite shows like Heroes will be affected by the writers' strike, Hayden talked to Ellen about how the show has affected her personal life. This included her recent decision to travel to Japan and try to save dolphins with an activist group. She said, "[The show] is about being a hero. And you know, it's kinda rubbed off on me. I don't think if I was as recognizable in the public eye that it would have made as much of an impact." From there, Hayden got into the heart-wrenching details of trying to save the dolphins — watch the video after the jump.

she is such a good try hard. If she's a good girl then just live life the way it is not saying too much about it or flaunting it in our faces. Eva Mendes is all proud of being a good girl but its hard to believe it when she dresses like a slut.
1Look at Shia saying he's not a bad boy when he got arrested lately. Be careful because life is full of surprises especially in Hollyweird.
If Milo's not around, I guess I like her...
2That being said, kudos to her for trying to save those dolphins.
Blackhole, I don't think I get what you mean, better to live your life the simple way.
At least she's trying. Good luck, Hay!!!
3Aww, I think it's cute that playing a hero on tv has rubbed off on her in real life. She's only 18 years old - I think it's great that she believes in something more than cocaine and night clubs.
4I like her workout outfit. It's really cute.
5She's adorable...I really like her. On screen and off.
6She seems like a good kid. I think she's really smart and has a good head on her shoulders.
7I think it is wonderful that at her age she is out there trying to make a difference, unlike most of the other celebs her age who are just drinking, drugging and parting 24/7. I hope she keeps this up and doesn't end up like Britney or Linsday.
8looks pretty and sportable like she usually is
9I LOVE her! At least she's not out showing everyone her goodies or clubbing or doing drugs. I respect her for that.

11She sure has it right as far as the ideal weight for a young girl. She seems very fit but not super skinny. She also seems to balance having fun and doing good. Plus she has the cutest style!I really like her!

13I like her now that she is trying to save animals!!!
Go Hayden Go!!!
*rolls eyes* oh gimme a break already, Hayden. go away.
14million of humans need saving and are dying .. but let's make sure we save those dolphins..
15okay now lets save the dolphins! haha
16So she does one "good" deed and suddenly she's a humanitarian? Why do celebrities think that their symbolism over substance activism somehow makes them a better person?
There are lots of problems in the world, and even here at home, that Hayden could work towards making better. Why not go every week to a local grade school and read with kids who are having trouble learning how to read or have little attention at home? Then she could get busy doing good without jet-setting around the world for self-serving promoting causes. (and the same applies to all those celeb activists out there that like a photo op over really DOING something on a regular basis!)
Don't get me started on how gauche it is to pat yourself on the back for your good deeds. Looks like she is using the dolphins pligth to make herself look good.
17Historydiva, why do you have a problem with her trying to raise awareness about animal issues? Animal issues are serious too. Just because they aren't children it doesn't mean they should be overlooked.
Maybe you should go do some good instead of criticizing Hayden because she's not reading to kids. Please.
18Aw what a sweet little chubster she is.
19i like her a lot more now that i know that she's not just about cloths, party's and guys like a lot of the "celebrity" it girls , she cares about others , not just herself , don't change Hayden!
20She seems like a nice kid - good for her for trying to do some good with her fame, instead of just hanging out in bars and showing her underwear!
21Give it time.
22I think it's good what she's doing.
23I tell ya, no matter what some people they just cant win.
Ur damn if you do & your damned if u dont. Choose which way u'd like to be damned.
24Did you guys see that she claimed she "risked her life" for the dolphins? Bullsh*t! I mean I think it's a great cause and I definitely oppose the slaughter of dolphins and whales, but basically claiming that she single-handedly brought all this attention to the cause and saved the dolphins shows how overinflated her ego is. Hayden honey, people who are much more "humanitarian" than you have been protesting and participating in great causes for years, including this one. Clearly Hayden believes that she is the first person ever to participate in this cause. Oh, and she said she was so sad that the dolphins died, but that didn't stop her from smiling and parading around in her bikini (on a cold day) in front of the paparazzi!
25If you watch the video of what she did and the dolphins, it is absolutely heart-breaking. Before you judge her or comment on her clothes/weight/whatever, I would urge you to see what is really happening around the world. At least she is trying to bring attention to the issues, and the senseless killing of animals around the world.
26i think itz great that she does things like this. teens her age dont even bother.
