Beyonce performed quite a show on The Today Show this morning. She's totally confident in herself as an artist on stage and in front of the camera. So even though Jennifer Hudson may be getting most of the rave reviews for her performance in Dreamgirls, Beyonce says it doesn't bother her a bit. Here's more:
"I knew that the character that I played wasn't the star," Knowles, 25, told reporters on Saturday about knowing full well that her Diana Ross-esque role of Deena Jones was less meaty than Hudson's part as Effie White – a part that is already getting Hudson Oscar buzz. "She wasn't the underdog. She didn't have the struggle and the pain and the dramatic scenes that Effie had, and I was fine with that."
Taking the role was about proving herself as an actress. "I'm already a star. I already have nine Grammys. Everyone knows I can sing," Knowles said. "I did this because I wanted people to know that I can act and I can play someone so different from myself."
So, what about the rumors of jealousy towards Hudson? "It's really unfortunate that everyone is saying I'm jealous of Jennifer. It hurts my heart because it's so clichéd. … They're saying that I'm mad when I knew going into this that I was playing Deena," said Knowles. "Because I'm a star they just automatically assume that I'm not humble enough to sit down and take a back seat, which I am."
But the R&B star did admit that she would have liked to have sung Effie's song, "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going," a showstopper that, in large part, helped get Jennifer Holliday a Tony Award for best actress for the original 1981 Broadway version of Dreamgirls.
"I mean," said Knowles, "I wish I could've gained 20 pounds and played Effie."
Ouch! I wonder what Jennifer Hudson will think of that last comment! Luckily Beyonce followed it up with some kind words for her costar. She said, ""Jennifer Hudson had such a pressure, first of all, never being in a film and never have done an album and still having to live up to those expectations," said Knowles. 37mar-the role called for a thicker girl, because the whole premise of the story is that beyonces character was less talented but was put in the spotlight because she thinner and easier on the eyes, jennifer was the more talented one but didnt get as much stage time because she was thicker. she was doing alot of things around that time and she probably didnt want to gain the weight. the comment may have been unecessary but it is the truth.

It's not that she didn't want the part cos it wasn't offered to her was it? It was auditioned for and Jennifer won it out of all the stars who are bigger than Beyonce who were vying for it, so she can cut the crap. It'slike Kelly Rowland saying i could have gained 40 pounds, and gotten a 4 pack stomach, a weave, a sh*ttastic design company and I could have been the next Beyonce. What about doing it because she actually enjoys acting or the script was amazing? Beyonce is really disgusting and sad. I used to envy her money and lifestyle. But now I just feel sorry for her. How messed up is she to be so blessed and still have to steal someone else's shine? I don't think I'm gonna be able to hold down my Christmas dinner if I see this movie on Dec. 25th. But I refuse to let my distaste with Beyonce force me to miss out on Jennifer Hudson! They need to put those airsickness bags in all the theaters that are showing Dreamgirls! I doubt I'll be the only one with this dilemma.

49Flutterpie - she's jealous of Jennifer Hudson because all the reviews are saying that J. Hud steals the show! She's practically a lock for a supporting actress Oscar nomination. People are saying "a star is born" so much it is becoming cliche. No one is talking about Beyonce's performance, and it was supposed to be the movie that she wanted to use to prove to everyone she is an amazing actress.
