I agree...I don't think the sole purpose of her dating anyone is to try and further her career...I think she probably dates men because she likes them, and sweet dear daddy is the one who uses it to benefit her career by exploiding the relationship (which is probably why none of them last).

For all Joe's whining about Nick, she would have never gotten the reality gig without him and that started the whole career ball rolling. I think she's too stupid to be manipulative so it does seem like her father could be positioning her to garner attention. How does Owen Wilson = country? That has me baffled. But her 15 minutes should have been over a long time ago.

Would she even HAVE a career if it weren't for Newlyweds, which was basically her love life on display? I don't know if this is as calculated as it sounds, but she certainly doesn't shy away from using her "dates" for professional gain.

I'm saying that it's a possibilty. The Simpsons family know that nobody likes them anymore and their has been from 2003. Let's be honest, the only reason people know her is because of Newlyweds, not because of her career in 1998. Now that she and Nick are down and everybody realizes her music has gone down the drain, and her acting sucks, nobody wants to hear about her, so this is a good way to make people intrigued.
