Kanye West could use a million hugs. Over the weekend he got back on stage in Paris just one week after his mother, Donda West died unexpectedly. Kanye performed a 60 minute set, but broke down in tears and had to leave the stage when he tried to close the show with the song he wrote for his mom, "Hey Momma." So sad. While it's impressive that he wants to get back to work, perhaps he should take a little more time for himself before pushing himself back on stage. He is expected tomorrow in Oklahoma for her memorial service.
On a slightly brighter note, Kanye (along with Bill Clinton and Daniel Craig) was named GQ's Man of the Year. In the magazine he opens up a little about his plans to marry his fiance, Alexis Pfeiffer. He said:
"I'm just going to go and get married -- I'm not going to make a big deal out of it. It's not to prove anything to anyone -- it's for me, for stability in my life, and I'm so happy that I found someone that I really love, that challenges me, that keeps my life interesting, that's just as crazy as I am."
Alexis was by Kanye's side this weekend in Paris and I'm sure he'll be needing her more than ever these days. Stability and love sound like the perfect combination to help Kanye out during this unimaginably sad time.

Aw I feel so bad for the guy.
1I saw the vid of him crying...aww man so sad..
Stay strong Kanye
2I saw the video, too sad!
3Poor Kanye! I know from experience how incredibly difficult it is to lose a parent.... I think for him, performing makes him feel better. Anyway, I hope he stays strong.
4i also saw the video and it just brought me to tears.
You could almost see him thinking "Here I am with countless adoring fans, total command of the stage and millions of records sold but what good is it without my mama?" He really just looked so alone on stage like everything he had didn't mean a thing.
Awww, I just feel so bad for him. It must be so hard to lose someone so quickly and unexpectedly. I can't imagine that being in the spotlight makes it any easier either.
5he will come oput stronger..i know he is
6*out*
7aww..nicachica i just read ur comment and that almost made me cry
so true.
8I bet throwing tantrums over stupid awards seems completely and utterly stupid right now for him.
Poor dude I can never imagine such a huge blow.

I feel so bad for his loss...poor guy...
10yup. poor guy.
11As much as I cant stand Kanye for 1) his music..Hate rap. 2) his ridiculous ego and behavior- I really do feel sorry for him here. Speaking as a person who also recently lost their mother (I was 24-Im 26 now) It's (and still is even after all this time.) the worst, loneliest, isolated feeling in the world. A pain I would not wish on even the most evil of people. Everyone says it gets easier with time, but in all honesty-it doesn't. Granted everyone who told me this still has parents that are alive and well. My mother's passing was sudden and unexpected as well-2 strokes at once. 1 day fine, next day gone. When it's that quick it hits you and literally knocks the wind out of you. You feel more alone than you ever have in your entire life. Completely lost, even when surrounded by a support system, spouse-what have you. It's a isolation the words cannot describe. The death of a parent hurts regardless, but I think its a different pain when someone has been ill or the death was somewhat expected as opposed to someone who was fine one day and erased from your life the next with out any warning. Not that it hurts less, but just in a different way.
12Like him, I went to work almost immediately after-granted not on stage, but worked nonetheless. I thought it would help me to keep my mind off or distract me from the pain for a few hours(plus I still had to pay the bills and could not afford alot of time off)-but it just made it worse. So Kanye, SLOW DOWN. You have the money to just take off and relax, be with your family/loved ones or just chill to yourself for a bit (which is what was best for me..alone time. My thoughts are with him and his family..
"You could almost see him thinking "Here I am with countless adoring fans, total command of the stage and millions of records sold but what good is it without my mama?" He really just looked so alone on stage like everything he had didn't mean a thing." nica chica i agree with you.
that video was so sad. alexis, i think from what i read, also was there for him throughout his time in the hospital back in 2001 or 2002. with that said i think kanye is blessed to have a woman like her in his life. my prayers go out to him.
13I love Kanye. I can't imagine losing my mom, especially with everyone watching me.
14Its very sad he lost his mom...everyone needs a mommy!! On another note...why the heck is he GQ's man of the year??? My gosh..hes a self-centered,immature,bigoted man..He is definitely not anyone to look up to or follow after..geesh!!
15Poor guy!
I can't even imagine how hard this is for him.
16Elsa ^ what makes Kanye a bigot, I fail to see where you're coming from. Kanye is egotistical at times and self centered, as are many people in the entertainment industry. The only difference with Kanye is that he doesn't hide it, he's not faking the funk like most. Bless his soul and his mama's, Kanye's accomplished more than people really understand and GQ was good enough to recognize it.
17That video was so sad to watch. I felt bad for him that the whole world was peeking in at such a private moment.
His mom must have been an amazing force. She was a young single mom who earned her PhD, taught for years, and became head of the department at her University, while raising him alone.
18aww i can't watch the video... but just reading others' comments and hearing about it makes me so sad. i feel for the guy. he may not be my favorite but this must be so hard on him.
19Poor Kanye. Huge ego or not, his Mom raised a good kid.
20Poor him. :/
21Just heartbreakin :[
22Stay strong Kanye!
Watching the video was so heartbreaking:( What pain he must be going through.
23He still irritates me to no end and I hate his attitude.
24Okay but that video is really sad. It made me cry!
25I feel for him, it's very to hard to accept things.
26It's nice to see another side of him. Sad news about his mother though.
27I really feel so sad for him
28That was very brave of him to go on stage after this terrible loss....
