Julia Roberts and Danny Moder stepped out to get some groceries in LA over the weekend (parking in a handicapped spot — tsk, tsk). They looked like any average couple running errands, but before you know it she's back in movie star mode. This afternoon she sat down with Oprah and Tom Hanks, her costar in Charlie Wilson's War, to talk and laugh about life and how hard it is to commit to making movies these days. She said:
I just made a decision to make a movie next year, and I found it was almost too big of a decision because I don't make it a lot...I'm out of the practice of making the decision...It's a real team effort in our house...Everything that goes on has to sort of pass everybody's approval. Danny and the kids, everybody has to want to go and be part of it or else it doesn't work. Moms know [what it's like] when you leave the house, and your kids are crying and saying, 'Don't go.' So I usually don't go."
Lucky for Julia, if she decides never to go back to work again methinks that her family would subsist just fine. Hopefully she, Danny and their little ones will have a nice relaxing Thanksgiving before Julia has to kick into full blown promotion mode for Charlie Wilson.

I get that filming involves her being gone longer than most of us, but we don't let our kids decide much of overall decisions. That's chaos.
1I'm with Greggie...
2Most of us don't have the luxury of making millions of dollars on one job either, so we have to leave our families for even longer periods of time! I wouldn't cry if she never made another movie.
3I'm always kind of stumped when celebrities are idolized for making family decisions. Parents do it every day, and a family of 5 isn't all that big.
4Wow i had no idea being a celebrity makes you handicapped. Why couldn't she just walk the extra 10 feet?
5Yeah, I agree with tkoblondee as well. I'd prefer she didn't make more movies.
6okay lets not gloss over the fact that she parked in a handicapped spot. i bet she thinks because she's AMERICA'S SWEETHEART her sh*t doesn't smell.
so let's see....
1. stole a woman's husband.
2. wore shirts on a movie set to make fun of the said woman.
3. now parking in a handicapped spot.
oh julia i smell your sh*t and reeks B*TCH! lol.
7A Low Vera.
*clap*
8oh and if you look at one of the photo she is sitting inside the car, while her husband is inside the store. ummm...why not move your ass to the driver's seat and drive your car put of the handicapped parking spot so people who ARE handicapped can have the privilidge of parking there juila.
9pinkflats
10*drive your car OUT of the handicapped parking spot* that's what i meant to type.
11"oh and if you look at one of the photo she is sitting inside the car, while her husband is inside the store. ummm...why not move your ass to the driver's seat and drive your car put of the handicapped parking spot so people who ARE handicapped can have the privilidge of parking there juila."
Loathe as I am to defend her, that's actually legal. Just like parking in the fire lane - if a licensed driver who can move the car if need be is in the car, it's often legal. They don't need to be in the driver's seat.
I think it's still tacky, though.
12Seriously though, why does she feel the need to make another movie if it's so hard to leave her children? If she feels the need to "express her creativity" I'm sure Community Theatre in her home town would fulfill that need. And she could still be with her family. And I agree that parking in a handicapped spot is the lowest!
13And why do I not believe her when she says she "usually doesn't go" when her kids say "don't go"?
14okay so it's legal, but honestly i wouldn't have asked that if ms. roberts and her husband were considerate enough NOT to park there to begin with.
but whatever it just makes her look more like a b*tch by just sitting there when i'm sure she is aware of where she IS parked at.
15I agree, pinkflats. Being legal doesn't make it acceptable. Just nonticketable. *lol*
16can't you tell i adore her?
17people like her disgusts me.
18She bugged me even before she made her Danny experience into a romantic fable. I don't think she can act, I think she laughs like a horse, and I don't find her attractive.
I would kill for her hair, however.
19i mean i started work at a retail store yesterday at a huge mall and my boss asks us employees to park on the white lines which are located like a block away from mall so customers can have the yellow line parking spots which are closer. and guess what i did? i was considerate enough to drive all over the parking lot to find a parking space with white lines so the customers could get the ones with yellow lines because you know, julia, it isn't that hard to think about other people even if it's just for one day.
20Maybe she's hiding a super secret illness that won't allow her to wait in a car parked more than 100 feet from the mall entrance.
21then that's what i call karma, greggie.
22Hmmmm... I don't think we like Julia all that much.
23
yeah greggie i don't think so too.
24I'm really surprised she would park in a handicapped spot whilst the paparazzi are there! If she doesn't care for others less fortunate she might at least care for her own image. I still like her for Pretty Woman though
25ohmondieu, nothing against you, but i hope you are aware that she played a prostitue in that film.
26I like a lot of her movies, but it's in spite of her rather than because of her. My Best Friend's Wedding still remains on my most-loved list, much as I hate looking directly at Julia.
27yeah but i think it's hilarious how she's called america's sweetheart due to her earlier films when some of those movies contradicts that: a prostitue in pretty woman; a jealous-man stealing best friend in my best friend's wedding. yeah nothing sweet about someone who wants to steal you fiance and embarrass you by making you sing karoakee at a bar. lol.
oh goodness i need to get to class. i think i've exhausted this topic anyways. lol.
28And again, I completely agree with you.
And by the way, the actual movie America's Sweethearts? One of the worst films ever.
29i saw that movie too. bad in every way.
alright got to get going now. it's nice to have popsugar turn to a discussion forum once in a while even if it's just you and me greggie.
30So sad....
Julia: "It's hard to decide which movie I am going to get paid millions of dollars to do".
The person who needed that handicapped parking space: "It is hard to go to the store because ARROGANT, SELF-CENTERED movie stars think they have the right to park in my space!"
I mean, those spaces are for people that have a difficult time just doing the every day things (like going to the store) that we take for granted. Seeing people like Britney and Julia Roberts parking in them just because they are lazy makes me sick.
31I saw Julia on Oprah today. Soooooo beautiful. That smile. She is so funny. Julia and Tom Hanks are great together. I wish they would do a rom com together. I love her. My favorite actress ever. I am so glad I am not a negative, hateful person who talks trash about celebs they don't know. Passive aggressive am I? Yes karma's a b*tch. And that is also relative to negative people to. Negative energy you put into this world will come right back to you. I hope it doesn't for you though. People that already have a disdain for Julia, of course are the ones that pounce all over this. All well to each his own.
32I love the Julia hate parade going on in here. Good to see she's not pulling the wool over everyone's eyes with that, "I'm just a normal mom/person/woman/wife" bs.
33Julia is not the one who parked in the space. Danny is. Julia walked into the store before he parked. They came out together and then she noticed it, and pointed it out to Danny. Ouit jumping to conclusions.
34cannot stand her. phony and tacky. yuck.
35Wow. Parking in a handicap spot. What a low.
36Regardless of which one of them parked in the spot, it's still an *sshole move.
37she looks like a farmer. i expect more from my celebrities! (and their income that we paid them!)
38oooohhhh
39so that's y she hasnt been on the big screen lately. And me silly, thought;it was because since "Erin B" all her movies sucked!
If you watch the video
She was already in the store, the paparazzi were swarming in the parking lot.
Danny backs into the handicapped spot and jumps out to run into the store and get someone who works there, brings them out, asking them to help get rid of the paparazzi. He walks into the middle of the photographers and tries to shoo them away. Julia comes out, he helps her into the passenger seat, and then runs in for a short time to get the bag. That seemed pretty fast so it might have been stuff she already picked out.
There was also a video photographer in the store following her around, which is probably why she didn't just stay in there and complete the purchase herself.
They didn't say, but I got the impression he might have originally been in the store with her, and went to get the car and back into the closest spot for a quick getaway when the paparazzi started stalking them in the store.
Still not cool about the blue zone, it might have seemed rational to Danny at the time.
40what a bunch of bs..
41i love julia i always have i always will, she did not "steal" danny moder, they were seperated. the "a low vera" t shirt came from the fact that she refused to sign the divorce papers after him and julia hooked up. was it the most mature thing to do? probably not but she is a human capable of making human mistakes.
42I love her!
43she looks great!I love her hair..
44The video shows him backing into the parking spot, looking at the sign and he still goes into the store. He's an ass and that's all I have to say.
45Why do I care so much about this??? Oh, because my least favorite trait in a person is entitlement.
she's a piece of trash. those who "love" her love her public image. look at the behavior... and parking in handicap spots is the tip of the iceberg.... FYI that's the REAL julia that those who "love" her don't want to admit exists because they need their phony public image to "love" so their boring sh*tty lives don't seem so boring. And she makes $20 mill a picture while registered nurses make...? Is that what you LOVE? get over it. next time you're in the hospital, tell the nurse who works so hard to take care of you that you "love" a lazy skanky husband stealing piece of trash. That's where you're value system is. Hope they dump your bedpan on your head. that's what julia would do with it.
46fan2007, HAHA...do I sense another hard-working but underpaid RN out there?
47Maybe she should brush her hair to find a good parking lot, lol!
48so she parked in a handicap spot and didn't get a ticket????? my boyfriend used a handicap spot to TURN AROUND in the parking lot and he got slapped with a fine. ridiculous. why didn't oprah ask julia about that?
49Wow *pinkflats* I didn't know she did some of that stuff (on the set & with someone's man) I must still be waaay behind on this celebrity gossip.
