The View has not even aired yet on the west coast but all the buzz this morning was about Star's expected departure from the show. This morning she announced she is leaving. I guess Barbara never wanted us to see the Rosie-Star face off. People reports:
"Something's been on my heart for a little bit, and after much prayer and counsel I feel like this is the right time to tell you that the show is moving in another direction for its tenth season and I will not be returning as cohost next year," she said on the air.
"That's shocking to me," interrupted Joy Behar, prompting Jones Reynolds to link hands with her cohosts.
Thanking the show's creator, Barbara Walters, "for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime," Jones Reynolds concluded by saying, "I'm not sure what the future holds, but I'm absolutely sure who holds the future."
After some discussion, Walters said, "It is a new chapter for Star. It will be a new chapter for The View in the fall."
It's what happened after the show that was more interesting. Star admits she was fired. She told People, "What you don't know is that my contract was not renewed for the tenth season... I feel like I was fired." Somehow I don't think this is the last we will see of Star Jones.

I have to admit I cried when Merideth made her announcement that she wass leaving teh show. I know I am crazy, but she was like teh mom on that show! Now the rest are all her orphans just trying to figure out what the hell they are going to do. As for Star - I would guess Rosie signed on - with teh condition that Star would not be renewed. I would put money on that she was not renewed - AKA "they fired her a$$"

15Yes, I never watch the View either, but I do like Barbara and Elizabeth. The only reason I like Elizabeth is because I followed her on Survivor and I loved her personality as well as her strong survivor instincts ! Haaaa !!!!!

18FB1977...the show's not really worth watching. You don't know what's going on because they all talk over each other. And when Barbara's on they just kiss her ass until you want to barf up your breakfast.

I think I may be the only one that feels sorry for Star. It's not like she can go back to being an attorney. And I really don't think "The View" is trading up by getting rid of Star for Rosie. She is much more obnoxious and loud than Star and Joy combined!
20If you look at the pictures of the 4 View ladies...one of them doesn't look human!
I think Star has lost a bit of the "everywoman" appeal that she used to have with people that watched the show. How can you relate to someone whose eyebrows have been stretched so far up their forehead that they don't look human anymore? Not to offend everyone...but I think that sometimes heavy women like to see themselves represented (like most demographics). I think that Rosie will be doing that, since Star paid to have hers removed.
I have never liked Elizabeth, even on The Look For Less. She seems pretty snooty to me...and a little too extreme republican!

29Lacoste...Elisabeth was on the second season of Survivor, the Australian outback. She lost so much weight at one point that her hair was falling out in chunks so Star better be careful.

33The show is not going to last. I hope they don't bring in Gail (Oprah BFF) to replace Star. I miss Merideth. She was the best one on the show. I always hated it when Barbara was on the show, and now she's on every day. Like mentioned above, they all suck up to her and she has to take over every interview. I can't stand her. Merideth - look what you've caused!
34She was fired because killing off a character generally increases interest (i.e. Mischa Barton on the OC).
This show is dead. It's already mindless as it is. Replacing the formerly obese black woman that most people don't like with the even more irritating, obese, has-been, pottery barn lesbian is not going to make it any more interesting. It certainly isn't going to become smarter. It's just funny to me that they have that idiot football player's wife on there. She is completely incapable of coming up with an intelligent thought or a formed opinion. The dumbest thing they did was letting Meredith go. They should have tripled the today show offer. She's the only one on there who was respectable and though I didn't agree with some of her views in the few episodes I've watched, she made good points and was always respectful to guests which can't be said for any other person on there.
