Nicole Kidman was spotted leaving her London hotel yesterday. She's overseas to promote The Golden Compass, but took time out of her schedule to do good. Today she backed a petition from the UN Women's council as part of a campaign to stop violence against women. Back on the promotional trail, she talked about letting Connor and Isabella see her latest movie. She said, “They see my movies. Not all of them, but they know they’ll be able to see this movie. They loved ‘Happy Feet’ last year and this is their movie this year.” Considering the hype around The Golden Compass, we have a feeling more than just her kids will be clamoring to see this one.

she looks nice
1She is the epytome of elegance
2I like Nicole.
3There she goes pulling her super bleached hair back tight again....i wonder if that helps to pull back her wrinkles....lol.
Sorry...i do like her though...but her hair has looked waaaaaaaaaaaaay better in the past. Time for a style change Nicole!
4I'm not so sure about the story-line of this movie. I think people should read up on it before choosing to see it. I'm just sayin'........
5She looks like a very classy diva here!
6Kudos to Nicole!
i love me some red-haired nicole.. but whatever it is, she's simply gorgeous!
7She looks great.
8I wish she would go back to red curly hair, because I think that would make her look a little less washed out, but I think she is talented no matter what her hair looks like!
I think the Golden Compass is based on a series of children's books. Some members Catholic Church thinks it is anti-Catholic...but they also though Harry Potter was "evil" to. I wouldn't let a fringe element influence my entertainment choices.
9The headline of this article made me laugh...
And yes, Jillness, it's pure entertainment. I happen to be Catholic, and I haven't heard anything about it through my church. They usually talk about things like that.... In any event, it's just a movie!
10Until she goes back to red hair, I won't like her. She looks horrible with blonde hair.
11She'll always look ghostly too me.
12Yeah the all black thing is kind of spooky on her with that pale skin. She needs to add a little color unless she's going to a funeral!!
13She looks like the villian from some movie. Was it one of the Matrix movies?
Holla if you know what I'm talkin bout.
14Agreed - it's the long black coat that does it.
15Her hair looks hideous and she is always so expresionless. Even when she smiles she looks like she's frowning.
16It even looks like she's greying a little on top.
17novaraen-thats a very mean thing to say-agism. i think she looks great. i love the blond hair.
18I think she looks awful.
19"She looks awful"
"She looks great"
Im telling you..it's all about what you're used to comparing beauty to.
I think she looks really bad. She may not have any wrinkles, but I'm sure she making the botox people a lot of money. It's obvious the way nothing moves when she smiles.
20are you KIDDING me, citizenkane?!?!?
the story is an amazing fantasy, but if you read into it any more than that you're entirely missing the point of the book- to tell a story.
21Well, I think she looks really nice!
22I think she looks good and all, but I don't like her.
23she looks gorgeous and it looks like she put no effort. So cool!
24I love her. She's so elegant and graceful. She looks good here. Really well put together, as usual.
25wow!
26She looks great!
27That first pic freaks me out.
Aren't her kids old enough to see movies more adult than Happy Feet?
28"She is the epytome of elegance" totally agree with this comment from rachael
29A film called "The Golden Compass" opens December 7. It is based on the first book of a trilogy titled His Dark Materials. The author of this children's fantasy is Philip Pullman, a noted English atheist. It is his objective to bash Christianity and promote atheism. To kids. "The Golden Compass" is a film version of the book by that name, and it is being toned down so that Catholics, as well as Protestants, are not enraged.
The second book of the trilogy, The Subtle Knife, is more overt in its hatred of Christianity than the first book, and the third entry, The Amber Spyglass, is even more blatant. Because "The Golden Compass" is based on the least offensive of the three books, and because i! t is be ing further watered down for the big screen, some might wonder why parents should be wary of the film.
The Catholic League wants Christians to stay away from this movie precisely because it knows that the film is bait for the books: unsuspecting parents who take their children to see the movie may be impelled to buy the three books as a Christmas present. And no parent who wants to bring their children up in the faith will want any part of these books.
In a 2003 interview, Pullman states: "My books are about killing God".
30just for your information!
31Thank you cheersdarlin and citizenkane - I agree with you both. I am an educated mother of 3 little ones who attend Catholic school, and there is no way that they are ready for the type of discussion these books require. I advised parents to read ALL 3 BOOKS first, before they allow their children to read them or before they see the movie. Be an informed parent...
32no, I'm not kidding you, bluebird.
33Phillip Pullman then went on to clarify that the books were not about Lyra and eventually Will killing God, but the Church killing God through the ways they were acting and through the act of intercision.
34She is so pretty!
