Lindsay is Dry
Lindsay Lohan scored big at the Angeleno magazine party for Nefarious Jewelry last night with over $40,000 in swag including a Spider Web diamond necklace and diamond encrusted sunglasses (pictured). She arrived late, which she is notorious for, but this time it wasn't a result of her partying. Quite the opposite in fact. She was at an AA meeting instead, she said. Here's more:
I've been going to AA, for a year by the way," she added. Why didn't she say so until recently? "Well it's no one's business. That's why it's anonymous!"
"I haven't had a drink in seven days. Or anything. I'm not even legal to, so why would I?" Lohan, 20, told PEOPLE. "I don't drink when I go to clubs. I drink with my friends at home, but there's no need to. I feel better not drinking. It's more fun. I have Red Bull."
But, she added, "I didn't feel bad before. I never felt bad. I just wanted to, like, find a balance. I was out too much. I was too caught up. I mean, I'm 20 years old. I was off from work, I was getting ready to start a film, and I was like going out just to get it out of my system. I was going out too much and I knew that, and I have more to live for than that."
Lohan said she hopes to shift the focus from her partying to her career. "I was like, I don't want to be written about at these clubs with these people. I work, I act, I have a living. That's what I do every day. I work every single day."
Sounds like LL is drinking her AA kool-aid. We'd much rather spend time writing about her acting than her partying also. Let's just hope she sticks with her new water trend especially if she expects to be getting diamond encrusted swag 10 years from now - she should definitely concentrate on her career! 2First off, if she has been going to meetings for a year, why hasn't she been sober for a year? The meetings aren't designed to be spectator sports...they are for people who are SERIOUS about making a commitment and change in their lives.
Second, she is so careful to say that she doesn't really have a problem, and just wants to "feel better" and "find balance". It sounds like she is in denial about having a problem. Admitting that you need help is the first step! I think this is all just for image repair, and that she isn't sincere about actually wanting to get sober.
I am familiar with the program for personal reasons, and I don't think it is a good sign when people try to only half-commit to making a change. It's like trying to quit smoking, and still having one every once and a while. That isn't quitting, that's just cutting back. I hope it is a positive step for her, but I kind of just feel that she is using AA for a publicity stunt.
If she wants to be known just for making movies, she needs to stay home, make great movies, and stop talking about going out.

She's such a pathetic attention monger. She'll take anything she can get. And, I've said it before, even if she's not drinking - what about the drugs? I don't think alcohol was ever her big problem. Please.
11Not to defend LML but in AA the only requirement for membership is the desire to stop drinking- not being clean and sober. Many people go to meetings when they are still getting loaded and eventually get clean- just as many get clean and than relapse.
12People show up all the time as away to appease their loved ones, their work et cetera- some of them actually stay and get it.
With LML who knows why she is there- one thing is clear- she definitely qualifies.

15I think LL's biggest problem (Over all of the others) is she LIES! I don't believe a word she says anymore, and this whole story is dripping with lies lies and more lies. I've seen pictures of her drinking a carona at some hotel well over a year ago. "I'm only 20 I don't drink when I'm at clubs" HAHA Thats 100% BS!

16Chasingdragon - I totally agree that you don't have to be completely sober to attend the meetings, and that the only requirement is the desire to stop drinking. You have to want to try. If you try, and fall off the wagon but want to get back up and try again, that is okay.
But if one doesn't want to try and get sober, they are kind of missing the point. And I agree with pollypo, that I don't think that alcohol has ever really been the big problem. Only Lindsey knows for sure, so I'm not going to pass judgment on her if she is trying to get sober. But if she is using the program to try and polish her image, all the while having no intention of getting sober, then that's pretty awful.
17I agree with you guys that she is a complete liar BUT I do not agree that in order to attend AA you must be completely sober. I agree with ChasingDragon that many people go for different reasons. Having the desire to get clean and actually being clean are two different things.
Either way I think she is full of sh*t and she is lying about even coming from an AA meeting. For most people, I don't think that being in AA is something that they brag about and toss around to the media. I think it is more of a private and much too difficult thing to speak this publicly about.
I can't stand her. She's mocking the whole program.

22i feel bad for those in AA that take it seriously and know it's for people who are brave enough to admit they have an addiction that is beyond their control. she's totally exploiting it for attention and making light of a very serious issue.

25I know a lot about AA, and not everyone that attends is totally dry. I think the first step is actually going, but I have to say, if she realy were going for a whole year, she has made little progress.

26I think her problem is she talks to the press without her publicist. She may be 20 but she's like a child. A child will lie about something stupid even if they won't be punished and they come up with obvious stupid lies. She tries to say what she thinks people will like but she sounds so dumb saying no one believes her.

Great, so now it will contantly be about her going to AA. " I was late because I was at AA", and if she's really been at AA for a year, she's clearly not taking it very seriously at all. I would say good on her if she was doing it for the right reasons, but it seems that LL saying she's in AA is just an attempt to clean up her party girl image.

32I don't feel bad for her because of her parents. Parents can be held accountable for a lot, but at a certain age, you have to realize that you are an adult and if you want to be treated like one, you MUST act like one. And what's up with her saying she works every single day.
