Sarah Michelle Gellar has enough movies in the works to convince Maxim that she'll be the woman of the year in 2008, but apparently she's already looking to get back to the small screen. E! online is reporting (well, really just teasing) that SMG isn't all that psyched about the movie scripts she's been reading and is now checking out TV scripts too. So what do you think — should Sarah Michelle Gellar Return to TV?

Idk, I hope she continues to make movies though, because I really like her.
1remember she's Sarah Michelle Prinze now
2She rules. I would like to see her in something like a "Samantha Who" type show. Something that is different but fun.
3I kinda think she had her day and age...
4ehh i could care less either way.
5i agree with veronica.
i bet she wasn't impressed with the kind of movie scripts she was getting because no movie execs were giving her the movie scripts she wanted. why should they chose someone who "had her day and age" when they can go for natalie portman, keira knightley, anne hathaway, and countless more actresses who can prove that they are or will be oscar contenders?
i know so many love her here but i sort of think that she's like jennifer love hewitt without the boobs. they had their turn, didn't seem to have impressed movie studios or critics with their movies or acting chops to have a lonstanding film career. just my two cents.
SMG and JLH are the kind of actresses that had a taste of great fame, but now that has worn off they don't want to go back to what they were before the fame for the sake of their pride.
okay i have put way too much though on this. please ignore me.
6She still has a lot of fuel left in the tank. I bet she goes on to star in a big hit show on HBO or something.
7I totally agree, pinkflats!
8Yeah, Sarah Michelle PRINZE, SMP. I know Gellar sounds better, but whatever she's in next is going to have Prinze so we should all try to get used to it
9yeah but griffin73 there's a hole on the tank causing it to leak. (if you get what i'm trying to say).
10I agree with pinkflats, also. Well said.
11I would like to see SMG on tv again. I do not mind if she still does movies just as long as the movies are not like The Grudge....that movie was so dumb.
12thanks kim.
13She should probably stick to tv...
14why would anyone care? is it going to kill anyone if she continues to be successful? or if she flops miserably? i wouldn't be embarrassed for her if she flopped. no matter what, she only has to please herself. just because you're filthy rich doesn't mean you want to stop doing what you love at 35. or however old she is. some people are filthy rich and never even started working. (ahem, paris)
15i'm with you pinkflats...i put way too much thought into this.
Prinze is just her legal name. She'll still go by Gellar as her stage name. She actually changed it back in September, but notice how she was still Gellar on the Maxim cover in November? It was a cheesy story her people leaked almost 3 months after it happened because she had a movie coming out.
And yeah, I'm with pinkflats too. She hasn't done great movies, but most up and comers were in crap movies but did something to make themselves get noticed. She just hasn't.
16I would like to see a return of Buffy. Is that too much to ask?
17i kinda idolized her on buffy. she'll always be respectable in my book solely for that role. i dont mind her taking smaller films and popping up at fashion events. it would have to be the right tv show...something cable and darker. and i think initially fading away from hollywood was a choice when she got married..not that she didnt have opportunities. buffy lasted forever...i wonder where she would be if itt ended a season or two earlier.
18buffy..
19I miss Buffy, but it def. ran its course... And yes, I was a die-hard fan, but even I couldn't take much after season 5. I do think that she's better able to carry a tv show than a movie, though. Either way, I adore her!
20Isn't she legally "Sarah Michelle Prinze" now, or something? Either way, I'm all for her coming back!
21I want something like cruel intentions
22evil roles suit her
I miss Buffy, but I prefer her doing other stuff on TV.
23I don't know. It would probably depend on what the role was.
24not a fan of her movies. the Grudge stunk. But Buffy was the greatest show ever! If she wants to make a Buffy movie, then stay in movies. Otherwise, time to call Uncle Joss and relive the magic.
P.S. Guys, yes she is 'legally' Sarah Michelle Prinz, but she has a d.b.a designation of 'Sarah Michelle Gellar' it's not uncommon for people to perform under names that aren't really their names.
25I'm not sure if she's a good actress, but she's a really cute person, so she shouldn't do something too big more something like Friends
26* by not too big I meant the format not the popularity
27Her movie roles have mostly sounded really terrible (not to mention totally typecast), and she seems better on the small screen anyway. I hope she finds something interesting, but if not, at least we have Buffy.
28She was amazing on Buffy. I think there may be more opportunities for good roles in tv movies. She would do also very well in a weekly drama.
29She should definntely bring back "Buffy", and kick some serious butt, imagine all the other so called slayer's facing some original behemoth and failing miserably, now here comes "Buffy and Spike and the original gang to the rescue of humanity. I couldn't stand that they made all thhese nobody's Slayer's, they didn't know anything, and Spike was the best and a perfect match for Buffy. Please bring back Buffy and Spike.
30i miss Buffy , that was a great show, she good at doing a great TV shows , not so good at great movies, so yes she should go back to TV!
31I'd love to see her back in a great TV show!!!!!!
32I really like her. I interviewed her once and she was so much fun and down to earth. I hope she's back on television in the near future.
33Definitely!!!! I want to see her in something cutesy though.
34does anyone really care? I do like her though, maybe she can go back to All My Children!
35I think she should. I think she is better on TV then on the big screen
36she is so awesome! I love her.
37She is totally awesome.
38I don't buy this story. That said...
pinkflats - She has received good movie scripts that she has apparently turned down for example Stardust. Some of what she's getting is what she wants. Scooby Doo was a script she wanted to do...however the script turned out to be vastly different from the film. The original script was a treatment for a raunchy adult parody not a kid's flick. The studios got a hold of it though and realised they could make more money if it was a family film instead. The Grudge was also a script she wanted because she got to spend time in Japan among other things.
I don't think movie execs can go to Natalie Portman, Kiera Knightly (period-piece girl) and Anna Hathaway (does she even get that many offers?) for everything. In fact, I don't think they go to Kiera and Anna for most films, Natalie Portman maybe...I haven't really seen Anne Hathaway in anything big since Devil Wears Prada. There are actresses out there in Sarah's age range that have been around forever and are working on projects they believe in. Sarah who has been in the business since she was five, 25 out of her 30 years; it's not like this is a person who JUST made it.
She was also very critically acclaimed on BtVS and there are many critics impressed with her. They haven't been impressed with her film choices but that's not to say they don't think highly of her. If you've read the recent reviews for her film, Southland Tales, she had a lot of praise across the board for her comedic timing and her acting. ST was also a script and a film she wanted to do that didn't turn out how she'd hoped.
If you know anything about the business, you'll realise that good scripts don't necessarily end up as good films and vice versa. Knocking it out of the park with a good film takes a bit of luck. She seems to choose interesting projects initially but many of them don't seem to pan out.
I'm not sure what you mean "go back to where they were" considering Sarah was probably more talked about by the end of Buffy-Grudge period than she currently is. Going back to where she was would mean working the same long hours she worked on BtVS and perhaps being even more well known. TV stars aren't exactly hurting for fame or money.
I don't even think she wants to be that famous considering she makes the choice to stay out of the spotlight when she isn't working. She's been in the business for years, knows how to works and treats it strictly as a job. She's an actor because she loves acting, not because she necessarily needs to or want to be famous and there are many actors out there who are exactly like that. She seemingly wants interesting projects and whether or not she gets that from film or TV has yet to be seen. A film career and TV career don't have to be mutually exclusive and don't have to be all about "getting famous".
39I look at her like I do Jennifer Aniston. They are made for TV. I don't like Sarah Michelle Gellar, so I wouldn't watch anything her no matter what anyhow.
40It'd be great to see her on the small screen again, but I've got to wonder what type of role she'd go for. It'd have to be something completely different to what she's done in the past for me to check it out. If it's just another Buffy incarnation, I'm not interested. Been there, done that.
41I agree with brunettefury... Well said!
42I ADORE SMG!
I still watch Buffy when I need to kick my heels up a bit in the fight against everyday boredom
43She is so a horror-movie chick, keep at it SMG!
44by the way...i dont think she is the sexiest woman or whatever Maxim says she is...
45Yes please! I loved her on Buffy!
46She should, I loove SMG. :]
47The fact that she can't seen to transcend Buffy even after all this time should mean TV. If she has the right part the week to week showings might give her enough time to convince people she can play another role just as convincingly. As it is people only go to see her in movies because she used to be Buffy.
Can't believe I was actually nice there, I have default 'meh' setting where she's concerned. But seriously, convince in another role or just go into producing and do us a favour.
48i think She Should Be Making big Movies
49Again (:
But id Love Too See A Tv Program With Her In Too
I dont Mind Really Either Way Shes Amazin
