This week's Us Weekly makes some serious plastic surgery claims about some big Hollywood stars. Inside, real-life Dr. 90210s talk about how many actresses are going under the knife. Surgeon Raj Kanodia who worked on Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz, and Ashlee Simpson (the first two saying it was for medical reasons) estimates that 60 percent of Hollywood women have done it. The story isn't sitting so well with the magazine's primary cover girl, however, and Scarlett Johansson is suing the magazine. Her rep issued this statement to OK!:

"US Weekly's cover story regarding Scarlett Johansson and its clear implication that she has had plastic or cosmetic surgery on her nose is an outrageous and defamatory fabrication lacking any conceivable basis or proof, despite vehement denials by Ms. Johansson prior to publication...Not surprisingly, US magazine cannot provide the dates when she supposedly had this surgery, who performed the surgery, or what was supposedly done — all because there simply is no truth to the story. The publication made a pathetic attempt to validate its story by using two cover photos of Scarlett that were taken years apart with obviously different make-up and lighting, and then relying on an "expert’s opinion” (based solely on looking at the two photos) on what "might" have been done. It wasn't."
Scarlett herself even assured OK! that she's never been dishonest about her natural appearance. While I'm sure that so much of Hollywood has secretly (or not) gone under the knife, it's a pretty bold way to name names. Scarlett has never been the first name to come to mind when it comes to surgery and it's understandable that she's angry, but doth the lady protest too much? What do you think, has most of Hollywood had plastic surgery?

wow, can't believe that half of the hollywood had breathing problems!!
1Hahaha oh pinkberry

3i cannot fathom this insane fascination with plastic surgery. ok so if they did have it what is the big deal its like this dark secret. honestly what is the big deal if any of the hollywood stars had surgery or not.
4I think her nose looks EXACTLY like it used to. Make-up can really do wonders and "change" the shape of your nose, but even in this case the noses look the same. I think she has every right to sue.
5I don't think they actually named her name, just put her face with the "Did they or didn't they?" headline implication.
I also think it's pretty standard for any actress to get that. Well that, and I can't freaking stand her.
6It's obvious that scarlett doesn't have had plastic surgerey done. She just got herself another make-up artist, a different hairstyle and she just grew older!
7It isn't just Hollywood, though. In smaller cities the rate of plastic surgery is going sky high as well, especially with the Baby Boomers hitting their retirement years. That is why the spa industry is expanding at an enormous rate. This is good for us younger ladies, because the Boomers are funding the research for products/surgeries that will be perfected by the time we need them!
8hey ashcwebb.. no seriously, their reason is "deviated septum" because they cannot breath!! i say BULL!!! so what if they have plastic surgery.. who cares?? everyone wants to look beautiful.. but if they really wanna tell us, they should give the details not this kind of headline!! tell me when, where, who's the doctor.. then i'll believe them..
9I agree about both the lame excuse of "medical reasons" as well as not thinking Scarlett's had any work done. Or at least any major work, nothing I'd consider plastic surgery in general. Just stuff like skin resurfacing or whatever, which I'd totally do if I had the cashflow.
But I still hate her.
10Celebrities need to quit their whining. These kinds of things come with the effing territory. Yes, it's unethical and sometimes cruel, but they get paid millions and millions and millions of dollars. WAH WAH WAH SOMEBODY'S ACCUSING ME OF GETTING PLASTIC SURGERY WAH WAH WAH. Wow, I wish that was the biggest problem in my life. Same with Jennifer Love Hewitt. Yes, it would amazing if women's bodies weren't under such scrutiny...but is this really the place to start? Maybe the place to start is with working on our HEALTH. We are the FATTEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. We are the LAZIEST country in the world.
Sorry, I'm on a total tagent.
That said, I am against plastic surgery.
11US Weekly is so out of line. I'm so tired of them picking the two pictures where someone looks different and having an "expert" comment on it. I have never had plastic surgery, but my nose looks different in many of my pictures depending on my makeup, the angle, and my facial expression.
Its not like they had a small blurb about scarlett in the magazine, they put her on the cover and that's not right.
12you're right Pinkberry, all of them have a collapsed nose? please! What pisses me off is that they are so quick to deny it and condemn plastic surgery. So Hipocritical.
13Halle Berry has TOTALLY had a nose job. Remember the honker she used to have?
Salma Hayek bought herself new boobs.
Hell, if I was loaded - Id be getting myself a new pair of cans too.
LOL
I could give a rats ass.
*Though, I admit to liking it when they can admit to it.
14And to address the whole issue of setting an example (to women who are getting plastic surgery young and younger), again, is this really the place to start? If that's your platform, find a new way to promote it. Guhhh.
15None of us have the face we had as young teenagers...who are they kidding? She hasn't had work done.
16I think that Scarlett needs to let this go ... why get so upset over something if it is just a rumor? ... not implying anything, but why would you sue someone and go so far to prove something isn't true? I don't get it. Big deal, they said you might have had plastic surgery. Get over it.
17Yeah, Scarlett needs to stop her whining. Be glad people are even talking about you! I can't stand her either, Greggie!! And her nose does look a lot more contoured in the right hand picture, plus it's known that we're guessing, US Weekly didn't say definitively that she has had plastic surgery. Over it and soooo over her. Next?
18it's hard for me to compare pictures that were years apart. People used different makeup, different hairstyles, they were younger, they may have been heavier, thinner, etc. and not only is the lighting different, but the cameras are different. ie, in quality, resolution, etc. Camera technology improves as rapidly as anything else.
19*lol* Jillness, not me I'm way to much of a wuss to have a knife - perfected or not anywhere near my face!
Plastic surgery has become such the norm, it use to be so hush, hush - did they or didn't they? I think we all know that half of Hollywood undergoes surgery - minor or major, this seems like old news to me. Makeup and lighting can totally change a person's appearance but so can plastic surgery so who knows but it doesn't matter. I've come to understand that most of what we see in the industry is fake all the way around. Except of course for the few like Jennifer Garner that manage to remain real. So many people rag on her because she looks plain but I would much rather see real and beautiful than fake and beautiful.
20One of my friends had a deviated septum, and she had to get surgery done. Since it is such an invasive procedure, I think some people just have the idea, "Since you are up there, you might as well make it look nice from the outside too".
These types of covers bore me. I really don't care who has had it and who hasn't.
21" I would much rather see real and beautiful than fake and beautiful."
I agree. I think when people iron out the "rough spots" they are actually ironing out the character in their face and bodies. People start to look generic.
22and i'm sure most of us have experienced this: you go to a party or something, and several different friends take pictures. you see the pictures from one friend who had a different camera from another, and they look different. in one you look fatter than the other, or your face is washed out, whatever. that's why i think it's dumb to sit and stare at scarlett's nose and try to pick out differences. dumb, just dumb.
23she doesn't even look different in the picture. you go girl, sue them fast and sue them good. i hate celeb tabloids.
24I guarantee that if my high school graduation picture and current picture were put side-by-side, a good 75% of people would claim I had my nose done.
It's amazing what three pregnancies will do to your bone structure.
25seriously, i dont mind ppl having plastic surgery... everyone want to look beautiful. so what? even i want to look beautiful.. but i agree with Jillness, "these types of covers bore me". it's always been the same ppl in the tabs mag.. why cant they put keith richards once in while??
26Who cares if they did it. I don't understand why they adamantly deny getting anything done.
27ehh... it does look drastically different to me, but whatever. I dont know why she's going so far to try to prove herself. I really dont like her and this is just her being annoying yet again.
28Good for scarlett, I mean it's US WEEKLY for pete's sake - can anyone really believe anythig they print?
29I'm pretty certain a bunch of their stories are fabricated
it's probably just make up.
30But i'm tired of celebrities suing magazine because they made up a story about them. If it's not true, move on with your life. So what if some magazine said you had surgery if you know it's not true, why care.
The whole point of these magazine, is to write stories that "could" be true. The readers are to consider if they believe it or not.
because pinkberry, keith richards doesn't sell tabloid mags.
31SHE IS A HELL OF ALOT YOUNGER IN THE FIRST ONE.. SOO OF COURSE SHE IS GOING TO LOOK ALOT DIFFERENT!
32SHE IS A HELL OF ALOT YOUNGER IN THE FIRST ONE.. SOO OF COURSE SHE IS GOING TO LOOK ALOT DIFFERENT!
33but miss-britt i will buy tabs mag if they put keith richards together with the hotness that is johnny depp on the cover! hee..
34Scarlett's nose looks EXACTLY the same! I understand her upset over this. Not only is it obviously the same nose, they made her picture HUGE. That's quite obnoxious, really.
35soo true summerbaby. You can tell she still has a little baby fat in the first pic. These mags are ridiculous.
And pinkberry, now that you add j.depp into the mix i'm in.
36the picture of the "before" looks photo shopped to me...
37a really bad one actually
38Never liked Scarlet and if she leaves Hollywood its cool. Her films are flops anyway.
39Deviated septum surgery and cosmetic surgery on the nose's appearance are two completely different procedures. One fixes the inside structure and one changes the way you look. It is entirely possible to fix the septum without changing the outside appearance. This BS justification annoys me more than any denials of surgery. It completely mischaracterizes the nature of two invasive procedures.
40Her reaction does make me think "The lady doth protest too much" even though I think the picture show no surgery.
Scarlett, you're what, 23 or so? Keep reacting this way and you will need surgery to hide the stress lines.
41miss-britt, see?? johnny and keith-y
because seriously, am
tired looking at the same people on the cover every single week.. we need a variety!
42Scarlett looks like she's had nothing done. It looks like she has on makeup, that's it. WRONG choice in cover 'exposes'. I would be pissed too. There are so many more stars that would fit this category, not her.
43İf they have had it they should just admit it also if your an actress im sure it doesnt do much for your career as you need some expression in your face to convey emotion to the viewers if i had the money ild have it done though
44Pinkberry, I thought the same thing yesterday when Ashley Tisedale announced her surgery. I've personally NEVER met anybody with the ol' deviated septum.
45If those photos are the best they could come up with, then she definitely has every right to be angry. It doesn't feel so great to be accused of something you didn't do.
On the other hand, no one really cares whether she (or any other celebrity) had anything done or not. This cover will be forgotten in a week. It's not really worth fighting.
"I would much rather see real and beautiful than fake and beautiful"
46I completely agree!
Do not give a hoot who got what "fixed"... Still doesn't give talent!
47jkat is 100% right. I had a deviated septum & had it fixed. My nose looked fine before the procedure & exactly the same after. And I could actually breathe out of the right side of my nose.
Loads of people have deviated septums. All it takes is a basketball to the nose & BAM!
48Scarlett obviously has a make-up artist working on her face for public appearence now, who knows how to apply shades to make her nose looking less wide. And she has every right to sue anybody telling fake stories about her. Those are the kind of rumors that would follow her all along her carrer and she may want to stop them right now.
49I totally agree, She has every right to be angry. I would be too if I was falsely accused of something.
