The Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning by Rosario Dawson, Jessica Biel and Matthew Perry. Brad's latest film Babel is the big leader scoring 7 nominations. We were of course pleased to see Leo on the list but he will be competing with himself for best actor in Blood Diamond and The Departed. The Departed was right behind Babel scoring 6 nominations which also includes a best director nomination for Martin Scorsese. Newcomers Sacha Baron Cohen and Jennifer Hudson both picked up nominations. Grey's Anatomy, 24, Big Love, Heroes and Lost are all up for best TV drama, and Desperate Housewives, Entourage, The Office, Ugly Betty and Weeds are up for best comedy or musical TV series. An odd list of nominated films and actors. The thing that sticks out most to me is that there was no 'blockbuster' film this year. Sure, Babel got lots of nominations, but how many people saw it?
But I am happy with all the TV drama nominations. Any of those shows could win and I would think it's deserving.
The only one that makes me scratch my head is the Evie Lilly nomination. I love Kate, but, really? Best actress? Really?
The Office for best comedy!

I hope Leo doesn't split his own votes and come out a loser here! He deserves the award for The Departed and was excellent in Blood Diamond.

Hopefully Forest Whitaker will take the best drama categoyy, he was excellent. It is so unfortunate that Half Nelson was lost in the shuffle, it had excellent performances despite being only a decent movie.
It is hard to believe that Dicaprio's unremarkable performances have earned him nominations but at least The Departed was a decent performance regardless of how unremarkable it was. Blood Diamond, on the other hand, was just an awful accent.
Walhberg's performance was excellent and I am happy to see it nominated.
10Beyonce is up for best actress. That is effin ridiculous. Every review says she is the worst actress in the movie.
11Good to see Forest Whitaker and Scorsese earn some nominations. Walhberg is deserving of his nomination in the supporting actor category, although the momentum is with Brad Pitt. He is a decent actor and I suppose this year is the time to throw him a bone.
I am surprised that DiCaprio's mediocre performance in Blood Diamond has gotten any attention. I hope the Golden Globes are the exception. The Departed is not too surprising since it is essentially a high profile film, so while his performance was not outstanding it was bound to obtain some nominations.
