2007 was a big year for Hilary Duff, which included cozying up to a new boy and becoming one of Hollywood's fittest celebs. It may seem like everything in her life is coming at her fast, but in the January issue of Cosmo Girl, she talks about pacing her romantic life, saying, "I'm definitely not ready to get married. . . . I think a reason that people in this business get married young is that they feel like everything comes to them sooner in life. It's normal to be like 'Okay, what's next?'" Do you agree with Hilary — do stars get married too young?

No. I just think it's tougher to maintain a healthy relationship under those circumstances, regardless of age. Constant scrutiny can't be easy.
1Surprisingly I do.
2I think her point is very valid. I think celebrities are used to instant gratification so when they're in a relationship and it's new and exciting I think a lot of them think, why not, let's get married. BUT I also think it has to do with the intense pressure of the business and constant gossip/rumors ... who knows, Hollywood is a crazy place that I'm glad I'm not apart of!
3Whatever tickles their pickle.
4"I think celebrities are used to instant gratification so when they're in a relationship and it's new and exciting I think a lot of them think, why not, let's get married."
I agree. I just don't think age is the deciding factor, I think celebrities of all ages do that.
5yes. i think it's because they've "done" everything (or feel like they have) by 20 and so what's left? "i know marriage and a family!" it's probably easy to get swept up in the excitement of the media swirling around you and your partner and to see youself like the "couple of the moment". being young means (usually) less maturity, less self control. when everyone around you is a "yes man" and what you need is someone to say "hey that's not like you, what are you thinking" part of that normal social give and take is missing. there's no one to bounce choices off of other than the other star struck lover.
6UMM I DUNNO.. I THINK ITS JUST MORE NOTICABLE CUZ THEY ARE IN THE PUBLIC EYE.. BUT I DO SEE WHAT SHE IS SAYING.. WHEN YOU HAVE ALL THAT MONEY AND EVERYTHING.. ITS LIKE OOOK WHY NOT LETS DO IT!... BUT I KNOW PEOPLE WHO ARE YOUNG AND MARRIED.. WHO ARE NOT STARS.. SOO IM GOING TO HAVE TO GO WITH MAYBE
7They're are a lot of people who get married young. I'm sure celebs just getting noticed more then the common population. So when something goes wrong everyone and thier mother knows it. I also have to add that keeping any relationship (especially marriage) going strong takes a lot of hard work. My hubby and I married the day after I turned 18. We have been married now 8 years this last November. However everyone is different. What works for me may not work for lets say Hilary Duff. I also agree that attention would add another level of stress, and you would have to be a very strong grounded couple to make it work.
8I think that article's from Cosmopolitan - Cosmogirl has a Dec/Jan. issue out with Ashlee Simpson.
9Just a correction!
well this question can be debatable..so i think yes..because it seem like they get married fast and divorced fast. then i say no becuase it can work if u work on it..after it is a relationship
10I think getting married under the age of 25 is pretty darn young nowadays and LOTS of celebs do get married under 25...
11more power to you mbrown81..thats a honor..most people dont even make it past their 5 year
12I'm not sure it's so much an issue of age as the supersonic speed at which the relationships move.
13UM...i want those boots!
14Yes, and I think it's because some don't take marriage seriously..

15she's so cute in these pics
16yaaayyy Hilaryyyy
17Thanks justingirl1989, we were best friends for a couple years first. It hasn't always been easy though. I'm sure there will be lots of things to test us as the years keep going by.
18I agree with her "ok whats next", I think that they get caught up in the moment and don't realize how much work it actually is to be in a long running relationship. The media doesn't help. If a normal couple has a fight, that usually doesn't end the relationship, but it seems that when celebrity couples have a fight, its the end of the world. I think they need to chill out and wait some years before getting hitched. Yes there are the exceptions, but the majority of the young stars are not thinking about their actions.
19Is she balding? Her hairline looks odd...
20they have nothing better to do so they get married..oh well.
21I think most of America gets married too young!!!!
22Yes, they marry too young most of the time. I've never understood the rush. If you're really meant to be, you'll still be together 5 years down the road if you're married or not.
23I don't think that they are getting married earlier I just think its publicized more than regular people.
24I dunno... I got married "young" and we are just fine =) The age on when you get married is differant in where you live. I am in TX and 24 is the age when you get married... but if I was in NY ... then it would be considered "young"...
25I really can't say anything because I was 23 when I married my husband... that being said I thought I was VERY young... we were just nuts
to each his own... we're 3 years into it and are still having a blast, and it's been awesome having a hubby who's totally supportive through law school!
On the other hand, I agree, instant gratification is a factor in some of the celebrity weddings, plus it must be so hard with the constant scrutiny.
26Watch she'll be married next year.
27love those boots.
28"it's probably easy to get swept up in the excitement of the media swirling around you and your partner and to see youself like the "couple of the moment"." i agree with you on this lickety split.
i think we you are dating someone who is famous as well, you can't help but up the ante of your relationship. plus it would have everyone talking about it. you expect huge designers to design your wedding dress; papparrazis are all over you; you're mentioned inside us weelky; ok magazine does a spread on your wedding; people praise you for your "glow"; people oggle your engagement ring. i really can go on but with all of these (and maybe more) factoring in it can make marriage sound cool to them.
but i don't think age matters, though it did shocked me when my high school friends would get married after HS graduation. so i don't i guess this topic is debatable; there really isn't a wrong or right answer. it's just where you're moral stands on this, i guess.
29OMG! I LOVE her boots!
What was the question?
30Aw, I miss her dark hair, but she still looks great
31i think that they do get married too young. granted a lot of people get married right out of college - i think that celebs aren't really on the same pace as 'normal' people in life
32Most stars dont even kno y they want to get married. Thats why alot are gettin divorced.
33I agree with her however I think there are plenty of regular 20yr olds getting married very quickly. I'm not against getting engaged young however I think it shouldn't be offical for another 2-3 yrs after the engagment; however that's just my view.
34this girl does not get enough credit - no alcohol, drug, or severe boyfriend problems. you go hilary!
35I think Hilary hit the nail on the head with that statement. They do seem to look for the next adventure even if they aren't really ready for such a big step. On a side note, I think she looks really cute in these pictures!
36never been a duff fan
37but i think its fantastic that she isnt gettin into trouble like other celebs her age.
They live together, and date around a lot more but married? I don't think so.
38I agree. Her outfit is cute.
39Shes pretty.
40Does that sound like a dig at her ex and his prego girlfriend? It did to me
41Yes!!! Hilary has such a good head on her shoulders, I have always liked her.
42I think many celebrities are so quick to marry because they think that if it doesn't work out (or they find out they actually have to WORK at it), they'll just get divorced. In hollywood divorce doesn't have quite the same negative social and economic consequences as it does in the "real world." Look at Katherine Heigl, she was just quoted saying that "marriage is a crapshoot," such a cynical view for a bride-to-be! It's like she's already given herself an out!
43no it seems like everyone is gettin married fast these days i have three friends the same age as me(21) that are already married and five that already have kids and one that is both that's a stay at home mom/hosue wife.
44i agree with agegie1:
everyone is getting married young.
my friends are either married or have no inclination of ever being married.
i think i am the only one out of my friends who isn't married, or engaged, or divorced . . .
you just notice more with celebs.
and as much as Hilary is a good girl, i think it's crap to talk crap about ppl getting married young, when she's got boyfriends who buy her cars after fingering her for only a few months, or dating guys too old for you (when you're barely legal).
what happens when you get married Hil'???
then what will you say???
i think you shouldn't comment on what your peers are doing, especially when it comes to things like marriage. who's to say what you're gonna be next month, or next year.
45their are some celebrities that do get married too young
46maybe/ it seems like they just have their lives scrutinized so much, that even if they waited until they were considered "old enough" we would still say there was something wrong.
47Yep definitely.
48I actually think more "normal" people get married young then busy stars..
49I don't think it has to do with age. I think that since they have so much $$, they don't care if they get a divorce or two.
