Will Smith is all over the place this week promoting I Am Legend stopping by every talk show he can bursting with his trademark enthusiasm. Yesterday he was at TRL before bouncing off to his NY premiere. On the red carpet Will was psyched to see Tom. He said, "Of course, that’s my man!...You know he’s going to represent!” And this morning he was up bright and early at Regis and Kelly to talk about the school he is starting. He said, "The school system in this country – public and private – is designed for the industrial age," she said. "We started home-schooling our children probably six years ago...We found about eight or nine other parents that home-school, so we put them together. ... There's just very powerful educational concepts that we believe in, and we feel like 'I want to design the system that revolutionizes public education.'" While I'm not sure I agree with all of it, the man has passion.
At the premiere, Jada talked also about bonding with Katie about their unique men. She said, "There are not many women who are married to the type of men we are married to...Katie and I ... talk. We throw some ideas around how to manage all the things we have to manage on a daily basis, so we have the opportunity to have our own lives and be mothers. So, we do it definitely on a whole personal girlfriend get-down. They do it on a business level." Ah yes, being married to Tom and Will must get a little bizarre, at least they have each other.

He so cute, cant wait to see this film
1I love Will Smith! He was so hilarious this morning on Regis and Kelly.
2Love Will! He is good looking, funny, a great actor, and seems so down to earth and nice. What's not to like? lol.
3Jada and Will may want to stop taking Tom to their events. Tom is not helping him look like a rational being and am losing interest in I am Legend the more I hear about their "friendship"
4I agree with him on some levels about the education thing. I went to public school for the first 6 years then switched to private from jr high until high school. I have to say my public schooling was horrendous. Everything I learned was from my parents working with me to the best of their ability. I didn't even grasp the basic concepts of algebra until my freshman year of college. COLLEGE!
5I agree with Will regarding school systems. Its ancient and all you have to do is look at math and science scores from the USA compared to any other country and it is down right pathetic! Many urban schools make sure outside look nice meanwhile inside is falling apart with windows that can't close, no books, no computers, broken heaters its a national disgrace that no one talks about.
6Personally I would not want to be home-schooled. I think I would do worse because I know I am at home and I would feel like I do not have to take school as seriously and act so proper.
7I am lovin' all this Will. He is adorable, and I agree with his views on home schooling. School over the internet is also opening doors for a lot of children with many clubs, field trips (where public school kids wouldn't get opportunities to go), and activities.
8I wanna be homeschool now!! Will, please be my Math teacher!!!
9WILL IS SUCH A HOTTIE, HE IS GORGEOUS , I LOVE HIM AND ALL HIS MOVIE. WILL YOU ROCK.
10Well, I watched Lou Dobbs tonight and I can't remember the exact number but U.S. Public Schools ranked I believe 29th in Science and 35th in Math in all the world. I think Canada, Japan and The Netherlands (don't quote me on the Netherlands) have the best public schools.
When I have a child they are either going to private school or I'm home schooling them. My ex-boyfriend was home schooled, along with his 7 brothers and sisters and they all have successful careers and got along fine with their peers, etc.
11I could never do the home-schooling thing. My daughter talks non-stop and thinks everything is funny. She is also the biggest know it all. She is not fun to teach. When I try to help her with her homework she tells me that I am not capable of teaching her b/c I am not a teacher. I have to tell her that I have a college degree and I should at least be able to teach second grade.
12im glad hes starting that school, and in a nutshell he is right that school systems in the Western world are designed for MANY other reasons aside from educating children...it's really frustrating learning about everything that goes on :S
Will's one of the only stars that seems to have a good head on his shoulders
cant wait to see the movie.
13I ♥ him
14I agree that public schools are far from perfect (I live in Scandinavia, though) but you also get a lot more than just education from being in a classroom so many years, you learn the rules of the social game, to work together with different people and to look at the bigger picture rather than just your own life... at least thats what I learned
15Will rocks!
Yay finally he's solo! No creepy "attachments" ,cough*tommygirl*cough,
at TRL!
16
at Jada and Katie talking about how to handle their men.
17I seriously can't imagine anyone talking to Kate about anything....she seems like some sort of robot!
18He's so cool.
19Gotta say, we're considering homeschooling our child. I'm appalled by the curriculum and the backwards ways of our public - and even most of our private schools
20
21I respect/love Will/Jada and to each their own but I disagree with their school system comment. I am thankful that both of my kids are in good schools and love to go to school and love to learn.
22
pink m..i was thingking the same.
23I am so psyched to see the movie. I think its great that Tom supports Will. You hear the "Oceans 11" crew talk about eachother and come to events supporting eachother and we think its great...whats the diff? because tom they are scientologist?
24I love Will - love Jada.
25He has such a wonderful family
What a lucky man!
26Seriously liking Will less the more he hangs with Tom, and Jada's statements are always weird to me.
27How, when, where and most importantly why did this 'friendship' between the Smiths' & Cruises' get started??
28I know that the school system is a joke.. but I don't believe in home schooling children. They need the exposure as well as the education.
29Love them!
I was home schooled and I home school my own children, in this day an age unless you live in a REALLY rural area, I think home schooled kids get even MORE exposure than those in a group schooling situation - for my kids the world *is* their classroom
Not to mention I
get the luxury to spend so much time with them, it truly is a gift.
30I L-O-V-E that man. You know I am not a fan of Tom but I think it's great that Will has found such a loyal friend. Though I don't agree with Scientology's beliefs I wish my friends were have as supportive and loyal as Tom & Kate are for their friends.
31well i think that the fact that he is involved in his childrens education is the most important thing. my kids go to private school as a compromise (i wanted to home school dh wanted public). but we know lots of parents with kids in public schools who are doing well. it's the cookie cutter design of schools i take issue with. and if a school isn't working for a child that's ultimately the PARENT's responsibility to do something about it. supplement with an after school program, hire a tutor, work with them yourself. parents would never dream of saying "here's my child. see if you can teach them something over the next 13 years!" and yet if a school isn't working they just complain about the whole "system" not working. guess what mom and dad; YOU'RE part of that system.
