If 2006 was the year of celebrity babies, then 2007 was the year of surprising celebrity pregnancies. Salma Hayek started it off with her seemingly out-of-the-blue pregnancy/engagement one-two punch, but little did we know the other shocking announcements we had coming. After months of speculation that we never took seriously, we had trouble believing Nicole Richie's pregnancy, even after she confirmed it. From wrong way on the freeway DUI to beaming mom-to-be in under a year. And then, when we least expected it this week, Jessica Alba announced that she, too, would become a mom in 2008. Other fabulous notable baby bumps like Halle, J Lo, and Christina were just as exciting but not as shocking. All in all 2007 was a year filled with baby surprises, so we'd like to send a big congratulations to all of the celebrities who will be expanding their families in 2008!

3I didn't find Salma's surprising at all - I'd put her with the Halle/Christina/JLo crowd.
Nicole's was mildly surprising. Jessica's just came out of the blue (pardon the pun) but I don't consider it all that shocking.
4I was shocked compeltely by Jessica Albas pregnancy! I thought her and her boyfriend were having problems, and all of a sudden she's going to have a baby.

I don't know about all of them being shocking..some good..but on the other hand birth control needs to become popular again...not for the jlo,christina,salma,halle crowd..more for the other two.

7I was surprised to read that Jessica Alba was pregnant.I still don't see her as the mothering type.I thought she would be the type of celebrity that waited years to have a baby but she wanted to keep the boyfriend so she got pregnant sooner than later.

11What is so shocking is celebs with money not being able to afford birth control (or self control, is it?).
What's with all these unwed moms? I'm no prude, by any means, but I thought we'd gotten smarter than that. I also thought being a celeb meant you had the money and wherewithall to be a little smarter about protection.

Jessica's pregnancy was shocking. I cannot wait to see Nicole's baby! I wonder what it is! It's great she turned her life around. I think she wil be a wonderful mom!

23I found Jessica's the most shocking, simply because she announced it before there was even any baby bump speculation. Nicole was a close second.
24I think Jessica probably announced it early so she wouldn't have to deal with the same paparazzi frenzy and tabloid headlines that Christina and J.Lo did. By not announcing their pregnancies, they actually made them a bigger deal. More pictures were written and more stories told to "prove" their pregnancies. I think Jessica is following in Hallye's footsteps--smart move.
25yeah, pregnancy, fine, good...whatever happened to MARRIAGE?? it's sad that a star getting engaged without being pregnant is more surprising than an unmarried star getting preggers.

im shocked. why i dont know, but I thought she seemed grounded, normal, very Miley Cyrus-ish. So sad...another Spears with no career soon...
