Since Tori decided to make her father's death a tabloid cover story, her mother, Candy decided to let everyone know how they feel about Tori. Sad but true, the Spellings have become a real life soap-opera. Candy released this statement as reported by ET:
"We are deeply saddened that, during our time of loss and grief, we are forced to respond to the media frenzy caused by the mean-spirited and surprising comments made by Tori to the press, just two days after the passing of [AARON SPELLING]. As we try to honor his memory with love and respect, the sudden media frenzy she has created at this sensitive time is hurtful and very disturbing. Aaron's legacy deserved pure and unadulterated tribute and recognition which, sadly, has been tainted.
"Everyone deals with grief in a different way, and since Tori chose not to be here at that time, we believe she is having a harder time dealing with that loss. We understand how difficult it might have been for her to be here, and, perhaps, more difficult for her after she arrived. Aaron loved both his children with all his heart, and he understood how hard it was for her.
"We hope Aaron will be remembered with reverence and spirit for the monumental legacy he has left and not for the petty and tabloid headlines which have marred his articles of remembrance. We have mourned our great loss as a family and will continue to do so as that is what Aaron deserved."

20The statement is compelling, but actions speak louder than words. Tori is her daughter and she didn't bother calling her own child to tell her that her father died? I understand that people have issues. All families do really, but you deal with it and come together, particularly at a time like this.
As I stated before, I think Tori is a younger version of Candy. I absolutely disapprove of the tabloid story, but clearly, there are far bigger issues within that family than just this and it seems to be mother-daughter mostly. I think somewhere along the line, Candy forgot that Tori is her child. I've hurt my mother intentionally at times out of anger, but she treats me like her child nonetheless. Parents are supposed to love their kids unconditionally and with hope, kids will love their parents unconditionally. You don't have to like each other or agree on everything. Candy likes her drama just as much as Tori does and I really wonder what possessed Tori to do this story. The money can't be that great. She had to know that people would find it in poor taste. If nothing else, she needs a new agent, manager and publicist. These people are supposed to protect her from herself and improve her image. Whoever represents her must believe that all press is good press.

22I just noticed in that picture that it looks like Tori and Candy are fighting over Aaron. The son and Candy look upset certainly, Tori has a fake smile painted on her face and Aaron is the only one who seems to be happy.
Perhaps Candy feels like she had to compete for her own husband's attention with their own child. I actually assumed for a long time that Tori was Aaron's child with some woman he was married to for a couple of years. I certainly saw more Aaron-Tori pictures than Aaron-Candy pictures.
Also, I think her mom may have talked her into nose job #1 as a teen or encouraged it. Most parents wouldn't let their kids do that and Aaron doesn't strike me as one who would approve of his little girl skewing her face. I dunno. Tori and Candy seem to be addicted to the plastic surgery.

24Tori is a younger version of her mother, but her mother is older and wiser and has grown, whereas Tori has not. They constantly are bickering and not getting along. Tori was a spoiled brat and still is, but, she's a product of her enviroment. Still, Tori went public with her story and Candy is only trying to do damage control. There are a lot of deeper issues there, but after this spectacle, Tori started, I don't think her and her mother will ever make peace.

26Tori going the tabloids is pretty bad but I have to say this is worse. Candy should have taken the high ground from the beginning by adding Tori's name to that first statement released about Aaron's death, regardless of whether or not the two of them were getting along.

28Twinkie I completely agree. That added fuel to the fire and it was so unnecessary! I do also think that Tori should have been there instead of promoting whatever it was she was promoting. When my grandpa had a severe stroke (mom's dad) my mom went to the airport and took the next flight out to Ohio. She didn't even pack a suitcase.
29Who knows what she was told about her Dad's condition. Candy sounds a hell of a lot like my wicked stepmother. She's the type to tell you not to fly home when she or my Dad are in the hospital because “there's nothing you can do and you'll just be in the way and we won't be here that long anyway” just so she can spin it to her family, friends and of course my Dad as “She always was a selfish spoiled brat.”

Tori sucks and should remeber the only reason she was ever given a chance to "act" is because of her family. Also, in the family pic her brother looks cuter than she does. She doesn't really look like her mother, but that's a good thing because Tori is fugly with a capital F. No amount of money or plastic surgery can fix that face.
