Paris Hilton kicked off what proved to be a pivotal year by pleading not guilty to her September DUI charge. Before she even got her sentence, her personal life was thrown into disarray a few weeks later when a little website called Paris Exposed hit the Internet, offering up access to lots of private videos, photos, notes and letters revealing all sorts of juicy tidbits about Paris' scandalous life as a party girl.

In late February Paris had more car troubles — this time she was pulled over for driving without the headlights on and for driving with a suspended license. In March the rumors started flying that Paris' problems with the law could land her in jail, and sure enough, in May she was sentenced to serve 45 days in prison. Her sentence was quickly cut down to 23 days, but we still never thought we would ever see the day where she would don an orange jumpsuit. However, the heiress quietly checked herself into a facility immediately after leaving the MTV Movie Awards, complete with a glamorous new mug shot.

We weren't surprised that Paris was released three days later due to a medical condition and given a new sentence of 40 days house arrest with an ankle monitor. Unfortunately for Paris, she barely had time to settle back into her house before she was carted back to jail with tears streaming down her face the very next day. After serving her 23 days, Paris strutted out on June 25 with a huge smile. A few days later she gave Larry King her first post-jail interview where she claimed that she never did drugs and was now a changed person who was going to be more responsible and charitable. Paris did spend some time giving back in the months following her jail time, but by December she was back to her standard partying ways. We will give her credit for her best decision of 2007 — she finally hired a driver.
We're still counting down the most-shocking headlines of 2007, and we'll keep revealing one more each day through Dec. 21. We hope you enjoy this look back at some of the posts and stories that we certainly weren't expecting to see.

Urg this girls irks me...
1I think the LEAST shocking headline of 2007 was the fact that she still the vapid party girl she always was.
2Yeah, that whole in and out of jail thing was such bull! For the first time the whole country was united and like you better put that B back in jail, lol!!!
3I would say the only shocking headline in this was that she actually hired a driver. The rest... par for the Paris course.
4
How I prayed that she would stay in the slammer!
5She is one celeb I wish Chuck Norris would kick in the face! Ugh!
how i hate this girl; she has absolutely no class OR talent and she squanders all of her money and flushes it down her damn diamond toilet. GO AWAY PARIS!!!!!!
6oh paris, you amaze me
7Hey, remember when Paris said that her life had completely changed and she was going to use it for good? Boy, I think it is really impressive that she STUCK to her word. And she's probably memorized the Bible by now!
8Lovaajn....
Love your sarcasm.
9that's not shocking.
10I do wonder if she's pissed off she got a sentence longer than Lohan or Richie.
11She probably is, because I doubt she noticed that her conviction was for different charges than Lohan or Richie.
12People may hate her, but I felt horrible for what went down when she was taken to jail the second time. I know she's rich and famous for 'nothing,' but I really do believe that the media was crazy. People say she deserves this and that, yes, but please of COURSE she's gonna act all snotty and stuff. She's super rich...she didn't chose to grow up in that wealth. that's gonna make ANYONE snotty and stupid.
13She tried to buy and lie her way out of her sentence. I don't feel bad that they dragged her back and made her own up to the truth. Her lawyers couldn't even produce back-up for her "medical condition."
14this is totally unoriginal, but, all my comments are just ending up repeating and agreeing with jillness's sentiments and comments today. if only there was a poll of celebrities we're most over, Paris would top that list, surely? even with britney, there's that element of horrified "what now", whereas Paris is just... well, yeah, always predictable. ElectroPopTart, I hear ya and i think it's really nice to try and see things from her side, but lots of people grow up in wealth without being that snotty. not that i know anybody who grew up in comparable wealth to the Hiltons, but we all know wealthy people out there who grew up in very privileged surrounds without ending up like her. being born into a rich family is not an excuse for.. well, all the adjectives that the others have used already to describe Paris above.
15This is what it is, and this is how I view Paris.
You can't fix stupid.
16Paris still needs to be locked up....IN PRISON!!!
At least we would get more of a break from seeing her everytime we opened a magazine.
17oh god...are these really the 'most shocking headlines'?
18I'm with most people here....I'm so over Paris.
But I have to say..that picture of her crying in the car is beyond hilarious.
19Thanks Jadore!

I strongly and respectfully disagree. I know many vastly wealthy people, and many of their children are very considerate, intellegent, and giving people. Just as there are many poor folks who are cruel and hateful, a person's wealth does not determine their character.
20there is no surprise about this girl...
21They could've gave her more Jail time if they wanted to, not to create this Media spectular about her.
Embarrassing.
22im glad this happened, this was the beginning of the end for her.
23ugh. no more paris headlines please.
24I think what's more shocking is she actually SERVED time.
25Why did she lie about not doing drugs? People have seen her sex tape. Why try to hide.
26It's obvious that Paris has, at the very very least, experimented with drugs. I don't understasnd why she would lie about it now. I don't think (I hope not anyway) anyone really thought that she would change her ways. She's never been told "no" by anyone, and she's a product of her environment.
27She's so gross.
28PARIS overdose!
