Conan O'Brien was almost unrecognizable sporting his strike beard in NYC yesterday. We've been missing Conan and our other late-night hosts, but luckily they'll be able to shave those faces for the cameras once again very soon. Both Conan and Jay Leno will be back on January 2, fending for themselves assuming that their writing teams will still be on strike. David Letterman may also be back if his writers accept an interim agreement through his independent production company.
While it seems like the strike may still be far from over, we're glad to see that at least some shows are coming back on the air especially since it seems as if the award shows are not getting the blessing from the writers' union. Apparently, they denied the requests to allow writers for the Oscars and Golden Globes. There is also talk of picket lines, but we're keeping our fingers crossed that they will work something out prior to the big shows. It's one of the gifts we are wishing for this holiday season.

10I think this could really be a move that makes talks happen! The Golden Globes and Oscars are VERY important in making art films money. The fact that these two 3-hour-long-commericals for the producers' films aren't being shown will really effect them where it hurts, the wallet!
The writer's have very valid demands, and the producers are just being greedy.
And I LOVE Conan with the beard. Very cute in a funny way!

21I'm so glad the WGA are putting their foot down and not letting bigwigs bully them. Glad to see Conan is going back even without writers. I guess this strike is a chance for hosts to actually show their funny side and why they got the job in the first place. Just give the writers what they WANT! I miss my shows!
