(I have my life planned out, I just need a husband, but I think that may happen soon..! lol) Mariska is half Hungarian and speaks it fluently because her dad is from there. He was in one of the episodes, I don't know if anyone else watches it as religiously as I do (Although I've only watched season 5 religiously because I brought the DVDs with me to Spain) but the episode where there's a freaky guy that marries all these women and keeps them in a dungeon? He gets his manhood cut off... Her dad in real life is the guy that is on the escalator with a cute little girl when that guy comes screaming up the escalator. I live in Sacramento, which is 45 minutes north of where he is filming (Stockton). We had a nasty heatwave last week. It was well over 100 degrees for 6 days in a row, with very dry heat and no wind. Anyone not used to it will get their ass kicked by heat exhaustion, and I'm guessing Rob's more of an "LA-weather" kindof guy.

Hargitay is the fourth of Jayne Mansfield's five children. Mansfield had divorced Hungarian-born former Mr. Universe Mickey Hargitay (and would again in 1964), yet they were living together when Mariska was born. Italian-American cabaret performer Nelson Sardelli was dating Mansfield at the time of Mariska's conception, and he claims to be her biological father. Mariska has never acknowledged Sardelli's claim (even though she bears a striking physical resemblance to him), always considering Mickey Hargitay her father.
On the night of June 29, 1967, Hargitay and two of her brothers were asleep in the back seat of the car their mother and her boyfriend, lawyer Sam Brody, were riding in when it smashed into the back of a tractor-trailer. Hargitay's mother was killed instantly, as was Brody and their driver. Had the children not been lying down, they, too, would have been killed, but they escaped with only minor bruises. Hargitay, who has no memory of the accident, was left with a zig-zag scar down the side of her head.
She learned her father's native language, Hungarian, but also speaks fluent French and Italian.

47August used to be a very common male name in England, along with the feminine Augusta (the importance of being ernest), the Italian Augustine and way back to the roman Cesar Augustus. the month came from the name, not the other way around.
