Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker showed off The Great Debaters in NYC last night. Newlyweds Harvey Weinstein and Georgina Chapman were also in the house but there was no sign of Oprah this time around. In the movie, Denzel plays a professor who helps get a debate team started at all-black Wiley College in Texas in 1935 and apparently he was still feeling his character's spirit this week. On Tuesday it was announced that he had donated $1 million to re-establish the debate team at Wiley. Sounds like Denzel's new movie can still teach us a lesson, even many decades later.

Oh, right, The Weinstein Company gave a nice amount of money to that brunette's fashion house...and made sure to get her dresses on the backs of all of those actresses who apparently need free clothing (J. Lo, Lindsay Lohan, etc). Yeah, they married for love.

16I kind of agree that this movie will bomb. Pretty much anything Harvey Weinstein touches these days turns to sh*t (movie-wise).
17p.s. I think this is because he doesn't have a giant company like Disney to actually run the business end of things. HW (and brother) are desperate to become the next Murdoch(s) of the world, which is never going to happen because they're nowhere near as smart or savvy. Trying to become a media mogul, not knowing how to run a business, losing nearly ten of your top executives within a year of starting your company, oh, and, getting totally distracted with your pretty young girlfriend's company is only going to cause almost all of the movies you make to fail. Too bad, they used to make some great things. They just got too greedy....
