Molly_Goodson: Hey molfan, thanks for the question! Everything and anything regarding Britney and the rest of the starlet crew is sure to get people talking. As for my pinky fingers, I was just born that way (though I sometimes tell people my brothers did it).

Molly_Goodson: Hey bubbles, I knew him when I was very young, but not for a long time...and sadly not since he's become such a heartthrob.

Toast__Guest_: How did you get into what you're doing? What's your background?
Molly_Goodson: I like to say it was a series of random and fortunate events. I always wanted to write and started doing that for a website in NYC a few years back, from there I launched my own site because I've always thought that gossip was fun. From there, I moved to PopSugar last January.
Sparkle_and_Sunshine__Guest_: Do you have any advice for someone who is interested in starting a blog or writing about celebrities for a living?
Molly_Goodson: I would say just do it. You'll have moments when it's discouraging of course, and it always takes some time to figure out the tone you want, but have fun with it. And I always tell people to force themselves to write at least a little something every day. It's the best way to get into the groove of writing.
Toast__Guest_: Do you have any way of determining what gossip is true/false? Do you ever feel conflicted about writing something?
Molly_Goodson: We try our very hardest to make sure that the stories we write are as true as possible (if that makes sense). There are many sources we don't use and if I'm not sure about it, I'll make sure to say so in my post. Of course there are moments where I feel conflicted, and things I debate whether or not to post every day. I take them on a case by case basis and often times choose not to if it makes me feel uncomfortable.
Neekoh__Guest_: Have you ever thought about writing anything else besides gossip?
Molly_Goodson: Totally! I love to write about the more entertainment side of things (movie reviews, tv recaps, which I do sometimes on BuzzSugar), but I've always wanted to be a journalist. Any and every aspect of it interests me. (Oh, and that novel is coming along...any day now...)
Livy__Guest_: As a celebrity blogger, what do you think about the Jamie Lynne Spears pregnancy announcement?
Molly_Goodson: I was totally shocked! There are moments when I still feel so naive about the whole thing, where I don't expect stories like that to break. The whole thing is sad, but in the end she's in a much more fortunate place than so many other 16-year-old moms to be. Hopefully the whole family will have a better 2008.
Bubbles22__Guest_: Who do you think is the biggest star of tomorrow?
Molly_Goodson: Hmmm, thats a tough one. People have all sorts of good things to say about that Shia LaBeouf.

Molly_Goodson: I know all about that.
Neekoh__Guest_: Do you ever get to attend events or after-parties as part of your job?
Molly_Goodson: I try to get down to LA (and NYC, but not as often) as much as possible to go to events. Most recently the girls from FabSugar, BellaSugar and I went down to do the red carpet at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and the opening party for Eva Longoria's new restaurant. It's a lot of fun, but I will admit totally exhausting.
Bubbles22__Guest_: What are the other Sugar Girls like?
Molly_Goodson: They're great, it's exciting to work with so many smart, motivated and fun young women. Sadly though, not too many Boston girls (and I sit next to a Yankees fan).
Neekoh__Guest_: If you had to pick one celebrity to hang out with for a day, who would it be and why?
Molly_Goodson: That's a tough one because meeting someone is different than hanging out for a whole day. I think Matt Damon/Ben Affleck would be fun in Boston (though I guess that is cheating). I also would love to go shopping with the Olsens, or just see what a day in the life of Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears is really like.
gwinny__Guest_: have you had any negative in person experiences with people you have blogged about?
Molly_Goodson: Thankfully not, but I try not to write anything that would make anyone too mad.
Livy__Guest_: Any advice for someone interested in being a professional blogger as a career path?
Molly_Goodson: I think that the biggest thing is putting yourself out there and doing it, finding your voice and what you want to write about and making sure that you force yourself to write even a little something every day. The more you write, the easier it becomes. I think once you find your subject matter, it never hurts to email and introduce yourself to other bloggers you like or admire.
gwinny__Guest_: ok, similarily, have you had any extremely postive experiences with a celeb?
Molly_Goodson: When I was recently down in LA, Hayden Panettiere was really sweet on the red carpet (she is tiiiiiny). Same goes for Lauren Conrad from the hills. One time I accidentally grabbed Nicole Richie's shoulder thinking it was my friend and she was surprisingly cool about it.
Livy__Guest_: Are there any celebrities you are sick of covering? If so...who?
Molly_Goodson: Oh...ha...of course. It goes in cycles, but anyone who I end up having to write about every day becomes tiresome. As me at the end of any big movie premiere tour and I'll tell you I never want to see the actors on the red carpet again. It gets hard to always have something to say about your Britney/Lindsay/Paris', but thankfully for us they usually keep things interesting.
Livy__Guest_: I've tried the celebrity mashup game at Popsugar and it is so hard!! How can anyone really chose who is more famous when it is between Matt Damon and Ben Affleck?
Molly_Goodson: I know, it is so hard. I'm remarkably bad at it myself. (Though, between us, I think Damon wins in the game.)
erika__Guest_: would you ever participate in a celebrity blackout on someone, like let's say, britney spears?
Molly_Goodson: Hmm, that's an interesting question, but in the end probably not. Even when the AP tried to do one on Paris Hilton it only lasted about a week before they gave in.
IheartJim__Guest_: How do you stay in shape?
Molly_Goodson: Not very well, but my typing fingers are in peak form.

erika__Guest_: is gossip and our fixation with gossip ruining us? you seem to come from a very positive place cf. dlisted, perez but i worry about this fixation i have on checking my gossip sites every day
Molly_Goodson: I certainly don't think that it's ruining us. I love to have fun with it and not take any of it (or myself) too seriously, and when it stops being fun is probably when I'll stop doing it. And I don't think there's anything wrong with having a healthy list of gossip sites you love to read. Lord knows I have a few hundred favorites.
erika__Guest_: do you blog in shifts with multiple people doing the writing? it can't all be one person submitting posts, right?
Molly_Goodson: There are 5 of us who work on PopSugar (not all of whom write), ending up at about 25-30 posts a day. Though, the stories that say they're by Molly are all straight from me.
Livy__Guest_: I love reading stories and seeing pictures about the celebrity kids: Suri, Violet, the Jolie-Pitts. They are so adorable! I sometimes feel badly about it though because they should have some privacy. What do you think about writing about these kids?
Molly_Goodson: That is definitely a big concern. I do love to see all the celebrity babies, but when we get photos which feel particularly intrusive or where the parents are obviously very upset, we don't post them. Again, it goes back to whether or not a photo makes me uncomfortable to look at. When it does, we like to avoid posting.
erika__Guest_: is blogging financially rewarding -- i mean, does it make you rich?
Molly_Goodson: Ha, well it has certainly made some people very rich, but not the majority.

Molly_Goodson: I think it's less scripted and more "set up," but still pretty fake. All that being said, I love it and can't stop watching.
Neekoh__Guest_: When you hang out with non-blogger friends, do they think you're a bit obsessed or just well-informed? Or do you avoid the whole celeb topic in general?
Molly_Goodson: Probably a bit of both, but I'm definitely the go to girl about anything celebrity or entertainment related. I can talk your ear off about just about any gossip you can think of. Seriously, don't get me started.

I grew up just a few towns away from you Molly! I'm always wondering what kind of people write for gossip blogs, so it was very cool to open up the Globe today and discover that they're just like me: gossip-obsessed young women from Metrowest Boston. Wicked. Keep up the good work on Popsugar, it's definitely the most thorough and, more importantly, positive, gossip blog on the web, and the entire Sugar network is awesome. I'm hooked.
