Ashlee Simpson brought her semi-stolen thunder to TRL yesterday afternoon and looked cute and 80s (and tiny). Doll, if you need arm warmers, you might as well wear a real shirt. She might have been a little pouty that her music video was overshadowed by Jamie Lynn Spears' pregnancy (talk about comparing apples and teen pregnancy oranges), but she was all smiles stopping by to show off her song. Hey, at least she doesn't have an entire football franchise's fanbase hating her like Jessica does. Hopefully, spending Christmas at home with her family (and Pete) will be nothing but relaxing for the Simpson family.

21LaLaLaurie, I'm so with you! I really want to like her, but something about her seems so insincere. I can't figure it out. And I don't think she needs shampoo so much as a good deep conditioning treatment.

26she looks kind of cute but she's just trying too hard. think about how long it took her/her stylist to come up with this "alternative" outfit. that's why people have never really taken to her. it's not her music, it's her. she's not great but she's hardly the worst singer out there, she's probably fun, & imo she's pretty enough (both pre & post nose job), but she's just so DESPERATE. she tries to come off as this "original", countercultural "artist" when she's just egregiously ripping off other people & rehashing it unexceptionally for the CW crowd. if she didn't insist on being so counterfeit she wouldn't be so annoying.

31Doesn't look too '80s to me, to each their own I guess. It looks more like I'm trying too hard to look too '80s by wearing an outfit that both my dad and stylist chose for me to wear. Ashlee is okay.

34michaela82 I think you got it right. Her fanbase is so small not because she doesn't have good music, but because she herself is not likeable. In large part I think that's because she's so obvious not authentic. She never seems to be "herself."
(Don't get me wrong, i think her music is awful, but there are plenty of artists and bands who are awful, but if they are enigmatic then they'll have fans.)
Also - her hair looks like cornstraw on the bottom and grease on the top. In fact, I hope that's not actually her hair on the bottom - it looks like it's crunchy.
