Gwyneth is still regretting the supposedly unpatriotic statements she made to a Portuguese newspaper. After admitting her comments were lost in translation due to her poor language skills, she is still worried the backlash against her will affect her brother's directorial debut film since audiences may boycott the film due to her statements. Life & Style reports:

“She’s just torn up about this,” says an insider.
The actress insists she was simply “speaking from the heart” when she spoke of her love for the English lifestyle.
“But when she went online and saw the reaction, she freaked out,” says the insider. “She called her press agent, who advised her to issue a statement that she’s proud to be an American.”
Now Gwyneth is just hoping the American public will forgive her.
Says the insider: “It would break her heart if Jake’s first major directing effort was torpedoed because she misspoke.”
In the past good movies usually win out over bad press. Hopefully people will accept Gwyneth's explanation and move on. For more pics just read more

maybe this time u can wake up and not say things then regret them later on! she has done this more than once, and it has nothing to do with translation or language barriers, the woman is stupid
1Luna13...I agree she needs to wake up and be responsible of her comments and how it affects all those around her.
2Oh please, she was OK with what she said until she realized how many people she pissed off.
3I agree with Luna and Padraigin - this is not the 1st time she's made these "the British sh*t gold and Americans suck" remarks, and she's only sorry b/c she got caught. She's so full of it. By t he way, little children pick up foreign accents after a short period, Gwyneth, not adults. That's just one example of her b.s. She's so affected.
4She is constantly making snobbish remarks. I don't think she is a bad person, and I'm sure she is proud to be American, but she just seems so out of touch with how average folks live.
5Yeah, it's so annoying how Madonna and Gwyneth have all of a sudden picked up British accents. They just sound ridiculous. I've lived in the South now for two years, and I don't speak with a drawl. I still have my "Noo Yawk" accent.
6My kids, on the other hand, are starting to say, " Yes, m'aam", and asking me to make them sweet tea. LOL
GOOD!! I hope NO one goes to support her brother!!! She has a BIG mouth and thinks she can say sh*t like that.. but take the " Uneducated Americans money". Go stick it in your pipe and BLOW!! By the way... She said her Spanish is bad.. could someone tell this DUMBA$$ that they speak PORTAGUISE in Portugal... yes it is similar but that's SO IGNORANT..I thought you were so EDUCATED.. Who is the stupid American NOW??? DUMBA$$ Stay in London.. Sorry JKBoogie to send her your way!!!!
7no please...it is bad enough we have had to adopt Madonna
8Am I the only person who is struck by the alarming self-importance of this notion:
~ Oh, boo-hoo. I made an insulting comment -- it MUST be in the mind of every person, and now they will ruin my brother's career just to get back at me. ~
Oh, hush. Gwyneth is not important to our lives -- she isn't influential enough to have an impact on my plans. Nobody cares! Not for real, anyway. (And the ones that truly do. . . well, it would be inexcusably insulting to our mentally-disabled brothers and sisters to call those OTHER people "retarded" -- and this is spoken from a mother of a special-needs child, for what it's worth.)
9okay, so now she likes america b/c she wants us to like her bro's movie? Actually, we shouldn't blame him for her stupidity at all. She's the one who made the comments and had to be told by a press agent (meaning she didn't realize it herself?) to apologize. Hopefully, her brother won't do what she did: become successful in the US by taking our money, and then move away saying how much we suck.
10ohsuri, LMAO. I'm glad to see someone else who dislikes her as much as I do.
Gwyneth is a pretentious dumbass. She's not sorry. She's said things like this before, and I haven't forgotten. It's fine to have opinions, but when you're in the limelight like she is, you have to think before you speak. I hope Americans do boycott her movie. It would serve her ass right!
11She's one of those well bred young ladies who just always manage to sound like a snob when they open their big mouths. She new exactly what she was saying.
12Gwen of the 90s was kinda cool, but this latest incarnation SUCKS!!! She is just such a snob. I hope her ass stays in the UK (sorry Boggie) cause if she came back to the US, esp New York (ya know, cause she is a "NY girl at heart") people would just walk up to her & start yelling at her!
13My first comment was flagged for approval -- it still hasn't shown, so I'll assume it's unacceptable to print. (Fair enough; I've no problem with that.)
I'll try again, but differently this time:
Gwyneth is a self-important megalomaniac. For her to think an entire country hangs on her every word; that they would plan their lives around her silly, self-serving comments . . . To actually believe that a nation of people find her so influential in their own lives that they would get back at her by snubbing her brother's work, just to punish her . . . well, THAT is its own special brand of mental defect. (What it must feel like to think of yourself as the center of everyone's universe.)
14On another note, she needs to cut her hair.
15Whatever. She's still not a good actress.
16Her hair is awful, I agree. I hope she will have to cut it shorter for her next role. In general, she is not half as attractive as she used to be, neither physically nor personality-wise
17this has nothing to do with translation. it has to do with her being rude.
18Nonny - perfectly said. What a self-obsessed, self centered, b*tch to think that people would punish her brother for her insipid remarks. With that theory, wouldn't we boycott Blythe Danner, too? On the other hand, if her brother's movie sucks, won't it be convenient to just blame those ignorant Americans? I'm beginning to think her dad was the humble one in the family and the only one who kept her in check.
19ok, I have to at least be devils advocate. I , to a certain degree , agrree with SOME of her comments. I think the media has kind of chosen her as an amusing topic with her rants, yet I actually see her point. There are cultural differences in America and the U.K., and I do think America is a young country that does not have half the cultural background as the countries in Europe. All in all, I love our country , but I think to judge us as a whole is a bit harsh, we have so many different types of people here, but I think many of her comments are geared torwards the shallowness of Hollywood.
20Some of us are too absorbed in running our own lives, we do not have time to worry about the stupid comments that come out of snobby people's asses....I mean mouths.
21I hate it when celebrities make a stupid statement then try to say they didn't say it at all or that they were misquoted or misunderstood. I guess that just shows how dumb they think Americans are. Ms. Paltrow is one of the worst of the bunch along with Madonna. They are so out of touch with reality, not to mention full of themselves.
22To me, she's just annoying no matter what she's talking about.
23And she needs to do something with that hair. It's horrible.
Can't .....Stand......Her........!
24I don't think people will boycott Gwyeneth's brother's film because he has a self-absorbed snob as a sister. It's not his fault! I like her mother - I think she seems sweet and is a good actress. Gwyeneth irritates me.
25She says the same damn things over and over again and never can seem to control her anti-American diarrhea of the mouth. I don't agree with a lot of what this country is doing right now, but to group everyone together and imply we're classless is just ridiculous.
I don't think her brother's film will be affected, but if this gets her thinking about shutting up trap for a change, then I'm all for it.
26^oops - shutting her trap, not shutting up trap!
27yeah, she is worried about her brother AND her super rich lucrative contract with estee lauder. they probably told her to shut the heck up! she should be ashamed of herself. after all, who supports her lame hollywood career? the very people she insults with her foolish remarks. it is obvious to anyone that she judges all people by the rich and selfish elites in her circles and knows absolutely nothing about the "common" people.
28she is on my list now. i dont know if i will ever forgive her.
And you know, this is totally random and off-subject, but I'm sick of her trying to be the next Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. CBK will forever be my style icon and I've noticed that even before Carolyn died, Gwyneth always seemed to be ripping off her look. You'll never get it right Gwynnie. Nobody can come close to CBK.
There, I said it. It's been on my mind for years and this is the first time I've vented that out. Can you tell Gwyneth irks me? >:-(
29This is kind of random. But... seeing as we're comparing Madonna and Gwen. Are they walking out of the same place? See Madonna's pic a couple below...
30what a beautiful girl. she's splendid, as ever. I like her too much to consider her small brain capacity :**************
31You can love something dearly or have great pride in it but NOT to the point where you become or seem hateful, spiteful and/or xenophobic. Her speaking "from the heart" about her love for England and her dislike for majority of Americans/American culture almost reminds me of like how the Klan says they aren't racist they just have a lot of pride and love for the white race. That comparison just keeps popping into my head. What did she expect the general American reaction to her comments would be?! Seriously.
32...how rich is she? cut the dead-ends of that ratty-mop on the top of your head. get over yourself. apple? double-yeesh! I bet like little zowie-bowie, that'll be regretted one day, soon. her movies suck (haven't seen shakespeare in love, so can't guarantee it, but outside that one, she's a stilted, crappy actress). hope her brother's got something more to offer, cuz, she's boring...
33Give the woman a break. The supposed 'quote' came from a Portugese newspaper that didn't even interview her. It's been completely taken out of context and mistranslated to make it more sensational than it actually was.
Only six months ago the press reported that she'd said how utter horrible England was and how she preferred the US. Make up your minds! It's simply a stupid media-created frenzy and everyone has, predicatably, gone crazy about it. The only reason the media write this kind of thing is because everyone just accepts it as true and it becomes sensational.
She's a good wife and mother. And at least she's not running around getting wasted in front of as many paps as possible, flashing her lack of underwear at anyone with a camera l That counts for a lot in my book.
About 99% of the stuff you've read about Gwyneth is based on people that have never met her, or met her for five minutes. Give her a break - she really doesn't deserve some of the comments people have left.
As for what she and her husband have choosen to call their children, that's none of anyone's business but theirs and has nothing to do with any of this.
