Britney showed up late to her deposition on Thursday, but we didn't know how badly things were about to devolve. She was with her boys in the afternoon and supposed to hand them back to Kevin at 7 pm. Instead she apparently locked herself in her house with SP and JJ refusing to give them over. Cops, ambulances and helicopters fought their way through the paparazzi mob to get to the door and try to reason with Britney. After a few hours, she was wheeled out on a gurney and taken to the hospital for a "mental evaluation." While there are a lot of ways to point fingers in this situation, we still don't know the details of what exactly went down and clearly this debacle has reached a heartbreaking low.

Update: According to cops, she was "under the influence of an unknown substance."
Update #2: Britney was, in fact, taken out of her house on a gurney (seen below in blurry screen caps). Soon after her boys were taken out of the house. Kevin was on the scene.
Update #3: According to OK! Kevin and his lawyer are at the hospital with Britney. Sam Lutfi is also there as is Britney's father.
Update #4: Sean Preston came to the hospital with Kevin, but Jayden James was brought in a second ambulance, separate from Britney. Poor baby.
Update #5: Britney is currently being held at Cedars-Sinai under a 72-hour suicide watch, and will undergo a mental evaluation later today. Sean Preston and Jayden James were released from the hospital early this morning.
On the legal side of the subject, TMZ is reporting that Kevin's lawyer Mark Vincent is headed to court at 8:30 this morning to try to get Britney's visitation rights fully removed, at least for the time being.

14Fox feed is still live and neither ambulance has left the house yet. But they are commenting on the huge traffic jam up the hill of the paparazzi. Kind of ironic, while they are filming live from the air.
15My concern is for her children and it sounds like they're safe now.
She obviously can't handle the idea that she's not above the law and that it's finally time to pay the price, she chose whatever she's doing above her boys, so sad that anyone would make that choice.

I think her kids will be okay, but this is going to be an awful night for them to remember. What a scary thing for such a little kid to go through! I hope that K-Fed is as good of a dad as he seems to be, because they will really need him now.

I haven't seen any confirmation on the child being put in an ambulance. Everyone says the kids were turned over to Kevin around 11, but it looks like the police made everyone go out to the lawn while the loaded the ambulance, because Kevin and what looked like the court monitor were out there waiting. He didn't have a child with him, and it was after that they loaded a child into the second ambulance.

31I hope the judge finally takes the kids totally away from her now and stop letting her get away with playing her little games with the court...she is NOT the stable environment the children need and by her actions tonight she won't be for a long long time. I hope they keep her in the hosp for a long while. This will give her the time she needs to get off the street drugs and onto some antipsycotic medication she desparetly needs. She's bi-polar (or has some degree of it) if you ask me. 35I kinda feel bad for Kevin he did all he could to protect the kids AND force her to get help. I feel bad he had to see her like that because she is his childrens mother. The courts just kept letting her do whatever the hell she wanted even after they stated that she was on controlled substances. Now she basically kidnaps her kids and has a 4 hour standoff with the police! No kid should have to see that!

If she gets kept for weeks it could be the lifesaving intervention she has needed. But there is a chance she could be released in a day or two, in which case she shouldn't be allowed to see her children before they are 18, but I doubt that will happen.
She was supposed to hand over the kids at 7 and 5 hours later she was rolled out in an ambulance. That was one long traumatic night for small children. If she was clearly under the influence, isn't a court monitor supposed to notify someone immediately if there is danger present?
42my nephew went though something similar to this when he was 4 yrs old..police involved and mom getting taking off for an Eval, screaming and yelling family members...he's 18 now and he's never been the same since that night. It's like he became serious and lost the silliness that a child has at that age.

49A California 5150 is only for 72 hours. Then someone (family or physician) has to go to court and request a additional hold because the person is a continued threat to themselves and others. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on how the CA5150 works now.
Sadly had to do this to my dad when his Parkinson's meds sent him over the edge. But that was in 1998/99 when we had to 5150 my dad.
