...A let down to say the least. Feel free to finish the sentence however you want but it's clear this was the most uneventful year in Golden Globe history. The press conference held at the Beverly Hills Hilton included a bunch of entertainment news anchors from ET, E! News, and The Insider who admitted they would never normally be invited to hand out Globes but this year they were pleased to fill in. Bottom line — this strike needs to end. This was an embarrassment to Hollywood's finest and we hope this helps the writers' strike end faster since we've got Oscars and more coming up in the next few weeks and we want more. Click here to see all the winners — the only one I am overjoyed with is David Duchovny winning for best actor in TV Comedy.

there were some serious surprises! but this strike HAS to end!
1The big wigs need to agree I don't blame the writers at all as they are essentially the people who can keep a show afloat with amzing stroylines yet they are not well compensated. More pressure on the power players, i hope this shows them.
2I have to say it made me realize how much it is not worth wasting a whole night to watch the long-winded awards shows. They blew through all the awards in like half an hour. That gives us more time with our families and doing more worthwhile things. The awards shows are annoyingly long and boring - only upside being the dresses - but still not worth it!
3The Foreign Press has a different slant than the Oscars. I agree that they need to end the writer's
4strike. They are not even talking. But you can't rush it because the writers need equality
The Golden Globes should always be done this way minus Lara whatshername. Just announce the darn winners and done. No three plus hours of nonsense. I miss the fashion parade but the Academy Awards fashion parade is always better IMHO.
5@ darkntwisty and wackadoodle: I so agree with you! I found that E! was announcing the nominees faster than NBC and it was just great. Announce the films/shows, tiny little clips, open the envelope, announce winner. boom, boom, boom. Perfect. I usually don't watch the Golden Globes(or the Academy Awards/Grammys/insertuselessawardshowhere), but I really enjoyed it this way. I'm not interested in photo montages or retrospectives or whatever they use as filler, I just want to know who won the darn award. I hope they will make this a tradition(although I doubt it). I will be jotting off a quick e-mail to NBC though, saying kudos!
6I was really glad that Cate Blanchett and Marion Cotillard won for their respective categories; however, I was dissappointed Juno didn't win any awards. I also missed the fashion/red carpet aspect of the show.
7This feels so odd.
8yay for Johnny Depp and Sweeney Todd! I still think Angie should have won for A Mighty Heart.
9yay for johnny's win!
i am however, sad that juno didn't get anything
10I'm surprised that Sweeney Todd won, considering what mixed reviews it got. Hmmm. And I haven't even heard of that Julie Christie movie!
11Depp's won the Award , of course ! i know that ! but feeling sad when Cate lost the award for best actress !
12I'm grumpy tonight so pardon me if I say something not politically correct, but I'm getting really irritated with this strike. Except for a blessed few (mainly auto workers), who in the US has the luxury of saying "Oh, I disagree with how this is being handled or I'm not making enough money" and just stop working and once their demands are met, expect that their jobs will still be waiting for them?
My co-workers and I worked for some real tyrant, tightwad bosses and if any of us were to say to them "Until you shape up and give us raises, we won't be coming to work", we'd get the boot so fast we wouldn't know what hit us.
13I felt kinda bad for the new up and comers who may never ever again be nominated. They really missed out on a big night. But who I really feel bad for is not the actors who have millions to live off of, but the hairdressers, makeup artists, assistants, and all the "little people" who don't have millions to live off while this strike goes on. I feel bad because if you've been running around a movie set for 20+ years doing odd jobs then where are you supposed to find work now? The most ridiculous part about this is that both sides aren't even talking...what a joke! Any other industry it seems someone bigger than the whole situation would have forced them to come to the table by now!
14Oh and you know I'm real mad over the fact that Johnny FINALLY wins a globe and they are on strike!!!! GRRRRRRRRR I would have loved to hear his speech and just stare at him all googly eyed. Sigh.
15Did you ever consider putting the word "spoiler" in this thread, for those on the West Coast? The show is only half way through in Pacific time, but now I know who won..
16I'm so glad Johnny won his first GG!
17Hey Ginger - it was on E! on the West coast at 6 pm (I'm in Cali), so I am not sure what you are talking about!!
18oh man, it was hard to watch this! I watched the press conference on Larry King, and I'm watching the NBC West Coast broadcast now, and it's such a letdown. I honestly didn't expect to miss the speeches as much as I did.
19Oh, I was getting the NBC broadcast which is on right now. Didn't know E had it earlier.
20funny how a three hour ceremony gets cut down to thirty minutes if that. I miss the golden globes, they are my favorite award show. Something felt missing in my heart: the drunk celebrities, the red carpet, the speeches the dresses the list goes on.
21But god was mary hart annoying. It was hard to watch when she announced the categories and the winners.
While I agree that it does suck for us entertainment wh*res to have to miss out on watching the Globes, I would disagree that anything about this was an embarrassment to the talented actors who won.
I am sure they are all pleased beyond belief to have won tonight. The fact that it wasn't broadcast to all of us on our couches doesn't mean they weren't honored well or enough.
22I'm happy most of my picks did grab the award.
Yay, Johnny won!!!
23I can't believe JUNO didn't win anything... :::tear:::
24yay!!
25i love samantha morton!!
please watch "in america" and you will totally understand
Cherryice, your comment is not politically incorrect but misses the point of the strike, the writers are not striking for more money but for a share of the money made in new medium from the stuff they have already created. The studios make billions, the writers want a wafer thin portion of this. The AMPTP are the ones not coming back to the table.
26I don't like this at all. I miss the gowns and speeches. I was happy for Johnny and Cate. Very happy for them. I was sad Angelina lost. This Julie Christie must have been good to keep beating Angie. I hope this WGA strike ends very soon.
27Johnny won!!! But he will have a very little chance against DD-Lewis!! NOOOOO!!!
28Yeah I agree , definitely miss the fashion parade. but most of all I miss the speeches, at the GG's the speeches are usually so funny/witty so it's sad we don't get to see that - even though Hugh Laurie didn't win this year , i'm sure they would have had him present an award or something , cos he always has the best quips of the night.
29wow i think that i got quite a few correct in my picks , but there were still some major surprises - 30 rock not winning , and David Duchovny's win also.
30I don't even watch House but Hugh Laurie has the best jokes hands down at the GG.
31congrats to all the winners
32Honestly I like that the Golden Globes are this way, I kind of like it better this way.
There is too much emphasis and money spent on award shows that could be put to better use. I am sorry though that the writer strike still continues, that is the realy travesty!
33*sigh* George Clooney didn't win again
, but Daniel Day-Lewis performance is hard to beat.
I am really happy for Johnny Depp !!
34Juno didnt win anything because it wasnt that good, talk about overhyped. I cant believe atonment won, because again.....overhyped.
I watched only abouty 5 minutes of E! coverage, the woman picture above had no idea how to speak into a microphone without sounding her "t"s like bombs dropping. Plus, ryan seacrest...commenting? boring. boring, boring.
35Ok where is the purple dress from?????????????? I loooooooooooooooooooooove it?? Anyone know?
36Yay Johnny!
37Ok first off...I just saw There Will Be Blood and I'm sooooooooo happy DD-Lewis won! He was incredible. Totally deserved it.
Also...Javier Bardem was crazy freaky in No Country. Another deserving win. Loved his performance.
I'm with you guys on Hugh Laurie. He's hysterical.
38Congrats to Johnny and Sweeney- both well- deserved!!
39I can't believe that the strike is still ongoing. Give the writers what they want! The Broadway stagehands' strike ended after two weeks or so.
40I just saw Juno, and it deserved an award, for sure. It's a great little movie with so much heart. I'm happy to see it getting many other awards and hope that the people who vote for the Oscars wake up and vote for Juno!
