The Cruise family landed in NYC yesterday afternoon and was straight off to FAO Schwarz to blow off some of that cooped-up energy from sitting on the plane. Tom and Katie walked out empty handed, but Suri nabbed herself a big ol' teddy bear to match her furry jacket. There was no night out at the clubs for mom and dad though (ha, as if) because Katie was up bright and early to make the morning talk-show rounds. She stopped by Good Morning America as well as Regis & Kelly to promote Mad Money and, of course, gush about her family. Videos of both her appearances are after the jump, but below are two of my favorite quotes from the interviews. Here's more:
- On FAO with Tom and Suri: "Now she's talking all the time. So she's saying, 'Who's that? Who's that?' We were at FAO Schwarz last night. We got in, running around, eating ice cream and playing with all of the toys. And Tom and I were playing with a lot of the toys ourselves. It's fun for adults. You get carried away."
- On training for the NYC marathon: "I trained for about two and a half months. . . . I think people train for a little bit longer, but I decided late to do it. Anyway, I trained probably I don't know ten hours a week and it's intense. It is intense.
Yeah, Katie, you think people usually train more than that? Hilarious. I hate to say it, but it's a little much how weirdly soft spoken she seems these days. Watch the full interviews after the jump. There's are moments of her spunkiness hidden in there, but for the most part it's all "magical" and "wonderful." She does look gorgeous, though.

She really has changed since she used to be interviewed, she has that crazy-focused look going on when she answers questions. A lot of maturing has been going on over in the Cruise household.

11Aggod wife, good mother and respectful who sounds like she has an off switch. Please there are plenty of good mothers and good wives who don't parrot on incessantly about their family and their happiness, the more someone talks about being happy the less truthful it sounds. It's like we've lost the essence of who katie was, all she is now is Tom's wife and Suri's mom hich is frankly pathetic.
12As for her dressing she was awarded the lamb dressed as mutton award for dressin way too old for her age.

16I think she seems really content and peaceful and has probably matured her Dawsons days. Perhaps there are odd things going on in her relationship that have made her that way, or maybe she just grew up and changed. Either way, nobody really knows but those who know her and she seems to be a good wife and a good person, so I don't know why she's being criticized.

24It makes me so sad. I loved pre-Tom Katie. It just seems like she has lost all of the cutzie funness that she use to have. She has no personality now. DAMN THAT TOM!!!!
25I'm glad she confirmed that she had finished the whole 26 miles. I remember there were several people here on POP saying that she didn't finish the complete marathon, glad to put that misinformation to rest.

32If you observe her and think back on interviews with Tom, it's striking how she talks just like him these days (minus his spirit/spunk). Her intonation, eye contact, even vocabulary ... it's all Tom. It makes me sad to think there's any truth to the rumors that she's all programmed now. But to listen to her, it seems like it could be true. Can anyone dig up an interview with her from just before she met Tom Cruise? As I recall, she was a kind and happy human being, but she had enthusiasm and her own way of expressing herself that just seem to be GONE now. I really want to be with those of you who believe she is simply happy; I really do. But something strange has happened. It is bizarre listening to her.

42I did read an interview with her Pre-Tom. It was the InStyle Interview she did (cover story) right before she met him. She was bubbly, fun and vibrant! She talked about how excited she was to be a single girl living in New York city. She was TOTALLY different than this Katie, UH, KATE CRUISE that he and his cult have gotten ahold of and brainwashed. A beautiful girl has POOF! disappeared.
43She's so programmed - doesn't answer the question, just spouts the Scientology buzzwords. Suri is "so right". Uh, yeah... OK.
44You know, I disagree. She ís different. All the characteristics from her Joey-phase are definitely gone. Of course she isn't the bubbly, fun, single New Yorker she used to be. She's older. She's a mother now. It usually is a very life changing thing. She's more settled and down to earth and in a really happy place right now. I really don't think it's all that strange.

48I would love to see any of the naysayers sit down on national television with perfect strangers, knowing that they have all crucified you and your husbands relationship, and act like you are just sitting down to chew the fat. Maybe Katie is like I am, distrustful of strangers, protective of your feelings, so that she seems nervous or disingenuous, i am told all the time that i interview badly for jobs because i am thinking too much about what to say next or about random BS, that i seem distant.
49she doesn't seem distant just brainwashed, she was a celeb before Tom so interviews should not bother her they are nothing new. If it looks like doo doo and smells like doo doo then it must be doo doo. Ther is something fishy in that marriage.
