After a very brief stop at her custody hearing, Britney Spears spent her afternoon momentarily at church, eating Mexican food with Adnan and Sam and then returning home. She never even went inside the courthouse; instead her lawyers came out to consult with her in the car before she headed on her way. While we're not sure exactly what went down either in the hearing, between Brit and her legal team, or whether things would have changed even if she showed up on time, the results aren't good for the erstwhile pop tart. The Commissioner decided that her visitation will not be restored until at least the next hearing, which is scheduled for Feb. 19. Neither the decision nor Britney's behavior are much of a surprise, but I'm sure she'll have her excuses. She always does.

She does seem to be getting a lot of chances but I think this might be standard for the courts when there is ongoing custody dispute. 15Deba, I think it mattered. The revocation of visitation following the incident a couple of weeks ago was only temporary. Although not required to do so, she had a chance to try to persuade the court that she should be able to at least visit with her kids again. She went to the courthouse to tell her lawyers she wasn't interested in telling the court why she did what she did. The court needs to hear from her what her what she was thinking. Custody would not have been restored but she could have at least regained some kind of modified visitation. Now, the revocation is indefinite.

26Right, she wasn't required to be there BUT if she had shown up, explained herself, and asked to at least be able to see her kids through some kind of arrangement she could have gotten something. A modified arrangement could be like getting to see her kids in a neutral place or setting where she cannot place them in a situation similar to what happened two weeks ago. I agree that some decision was already made but only to the point that she wasn't getting back the previous arrangement. Since she didn't show up and show at least some desire to have contact with her kids, she gets nothing and the revoked visitation order stands.
27She wasn't required to be there, but it was strongly recommended that she attend. It does have an impact, even if it wasn't required. Especially when someone's shown no interest at all up to now. And including now.
She doesn't need another review. She needs a permanent order that says no visitation, no custody. Period.

29The Decision was not made until today after she did not show, yes it was not required but it would have showed she cared, and the testimony of the people who helped during her breakdown and past employees, oh and the court appointed monitor.

33As a law student, this whole mess just makes me angry. Angry at celebrities who have no respect for the legal system, but also at the legal system who continually gives them special treatment that they don't deserve.

39I dont think anything she could have said would have helped her anyway, other than showing that she actually, you know, wants to see her kids. But I think that not appearing in court could hurt her.
They were having all of the police, medical professionals, court supervisor, and other witnesses to the standoff testifying. I think that is going to decide her fate far more than anything she could do. Supposedly one of her assistants told the police that she had been popping pills all day before the big freak out. If that is true and presented in court, she could be screwed.
The sad thing is that California REALLY doesn't like keeping the kids 100% from their parents. I think the law is framed in a way that reflects the idea that even if the parents are jerks, kids are better off at least knowing them.

My guess is that Britney is far more on the personality disordered spectrum- with some sort of added substance abuse- of a psychiatric diagnosis than a bipolar one. I don't know too much about the legal aspect of a custody case- how many chances people are usually given ect..- but I know that in NY even people accussed of sexual and physical abuse usually get supervised visitation with the kids during the custody battle. If she just showed up and behaved like a sane person she could have gotten that at least. Does she really not care?

44Okay, so let me get this straight. She has the police and sheriff's department hopping all day to try and make sure everything goes right with getting her into the courthouse. She drives around the block three times. She finally gets driven into the underground parking lot and makes her counsel get in the car with her. Car goes back outside, round the block again. She gets out briefly only to walk around the front of the car and get back in because she's too overwhelmed with the commotion at the courthouse. She makes a brief stop to a church and then goes and eat mexican food all the while with pap boytoy in tow and wearing a skanky wedding dress.

47Okaaaay. She has access to go in through an underground tunnel (the way Kevin chose to go in) and then she attempts to get out in front so she can act all scared about the paps? Isn't she always going to gas stations surrounded by paps?
