Scarlett Johansson provided a breath of fresh air and a taste of home for about 600 marines stationed in Kuwait on Sunday. Unsurprisingly, the men lined up to catch a glimpse of the actress and were treated to conversation and autographs (a few even walked away with a stamp of red lipstick on their cheeks). Scarlett was happy to provide a bit of eye candy as a distraction from serving our country, saying,
It’s important to give people a piece of home and to boost morale. Everybody out here is risking everything, giving us one of the biggest gifts they can. I want to be out here to support them. It’s nice to give them a smile in the middle of the day. If they are missing home, feeling down or worried, hopefully being here will get their minds off of things.
As for her boyfriend Ryan Reynolds, something tells us he won't be too jealous about Scarlett being the object of affection for hundreds of men. It's still premature, but word on the street is that we can expect to hear engagement news to surface sometime in the near future.

Those dudes are cute.
1I really hope that the "piece of home" Scarlett gave the boys was G rated
I am sorry
but that was just the first thing that came to mind when I read her quote!
2that lipstick has gotto go
3See, Ryan obviously has no taste. So I do stand a chance with him.
4:rotlf: lawyerjenn..it hink it was
that was sweet.
5She is so pretty

7Engaged? really, I didn't even know they were dating that seriously. Oh boo it will be a sad day when RR is officially off the market.
8nice to see someone from hollywood thinking of someone other than themselves. shows her respect for service instead of just mouth service
9I'm sorry but I don't think she's that pretty or talented.
10I don't think she's even remotely pretty, and I think she's an absolutely awful actress.
And that has nothing to do with her dating Ryan, I thought it waaaaay before they were together.
11This makes me like her even more. She seems to have a good head on her shoulders unlike some of the actresses and stars her age. Not to mention the girl is gorgeous.
12Engagement? But they've been together for a few months and Ryan Reynolds was with Alanis Morrisette for years without doing the marriage thing.... This strikes me as moving awful fast.
Kudos to Scarlett for visiting the troops. That's very admirable of her.
13She's in Kuwait - not in Iraq. The soldiers aren't risking anything. Yes, some of them are deployed to Iraq; but still. My cousins live in Kuwait because my uncle is a head of a company there. I've been there numerous times as it's in the Middle East and very near to Dubai. It's a highly modern country with AMAZING shopping. Google Villa Moda if any of you are interested. A prince started this megastore that has all the designer labels.
14Kuwait is safe since a lot of oil is located there
15It is a safe place. There's never been any bombings of any sort - and it's not because our troops are protecting the country.
16Sigh. Those Marines are cute.
17Jenny86, I think you might be a teenager since you don't seem to remember the first Gulf War and the invasion of Kuwait. I'm willing to cut you some slack for that reason. However, to say that our troops "aren't risking anything" is really naive. As someone who married an Air Force veteran and who currently has a brother serving in the Air Force, these men and women give up a huge part of their existence to protect you. They might not always be in danger, but they are away from their families and deal with a level of lonliness you can't fathom. Show some respect.
18Well there have been bombings there of sorts, but there is a huge difference between Iraq and Kuwait.
19Good for her!! Its really nice to see a celeb actually follow through on promises they make about going to the Middle East to visit troops (LL anyone? )
Just makes me like her even more!
20Kind of getting over her. Make a good movie, already!
21Not that I think that the soldiers are any less deserving of a visit and entertainment. Just want to make that clear, because I think King's stated it very well.
22I HEART OUR TROOPS!! Good for Scarlett-Jo.. it's awesome to see stars supporting positive things like our Troops. And she looks awsome.. so do those guys.. HOTT. Ha.
23Cheers to King's Queen!!!
24I am sure Scarlett gave all the troops a little piece of home........
25Why does she always have to copy Marilyn Monroe?
26Unfortunately it's rare to see a celibrity mixing among the troops these days. Kudos to her for taking the time to visit the Marines. Kuwait is usually used as a stop for troops who are either heading into or coming out of Iraq. So again thanks to Scarlet for taking the time out of her day to say thanks to the troops. We should all be thankful for the troops.
27Ew she looks dorky, but that was nice of her to go.
28yeey I'm from Kuwait
29we never hear of the celebrities that visit the troops, until they leave that is
well Kuwait is a cool place to live in and rest assured, it's very much safe
If you have any questions about it I'd be more than happy to help
SnowFlake I just had some family move there. They are really excited.
30Sweet. Baby. Jesus. Mr. Flanagan there is a first class hottie. Goodness, they're all going to have limp wrists for a month.
And Scar-Jo looks super lovely as always. Nice of her to do that.
31This makes me love her even more!
32Um...those dudes should make out. =)...**drools
33Why is she wearing (what looks to be) Gunnery Sgt. insignia?
34Anyway-
Good for her, she looks a little dorky, but good for her!! I'm sure those boys enjoyed her visiting!!
Finally some Scarlett news, I love this girl! I like the red lipstick on her, it's like her trademark.
35Nice thing to do. But I agree about the red lipstick - it's a little ridiculous. Gwen, Xtina, Scarlett and everyone else need to tone it down a bit.
36Love her. Hate the lipstick.
37lov the lipstick. wish she wore something a lil cuter...
38awwwwwww love it!!! Jenny86-- my husband spent 15 months deployed to Iraq and had to stop over on his way to Kuwait. Not everyone there is on vacation.
39I'm not sure if the boys really look THAT excited to have her over there! Look at their faces. I personally think that she's trying to be the next Marilyn Monroe AND that isn't going to happen. She is retracing her footsteps. She's too monotone and not as fun as Marilyn....she doesn't have that IT factor. She's not luminescent!
40It's actually not that rare for celebs to go see the troops...a lot of entertainers have gone over there. Especially musicians.
41You just have to look it up...just because Scarlett was posted on here with the troops, all of the sudden she is a "hero", when really a lot of entertainers have been over there over the years. Some multiple times.
42It's good when anyone goes over to see the troops.
I can't really picture Scarlett getting engaged. She doesn't seem like someone who's looking to get married any time soon.

44Okay, I saw this headline while surfing around online, and being one of the troops stationed at where she stopped I figured I'd check it out. Then I saw something really disturbing. Jenny86, I just want you to take a moment and think about things for a second. Those convoys that are out there for weeks on end and getting attacked need to stage somewhere right? Why do you think there are so many troops in Kuwait as well? That is where they stage. Granted, that not every person in Kuwait is out on the convoys, but somebody has to work logistics making sure everything works like it's supposed to. These troops spending any amount of time from half a year to 18 months away from home are working 12 hours a day, seven days a week on a normal schedule. And not only that, but a lot of them are required to work up to as many as 18 hours at certain times. And what do you suppose happens when a spot needs to be filled on a convoy, they go undermanned? No, anybody can be told to fill that position at any given time. Just please, don't go bashing us over here if you don't know all of the facts. It really isn't appreciated.
45I'm glad she did as she promised. It's always nice to hear about USO efforts for our troops. I wish it was publicized more often.
46good for HER! at least ONE celeb is appreciating the important things in life, the people protecting us....NOT just the stupid awards shows etc.
47Not too many big name celebs visit the troops, well not nearly as many as there should be. I'm indifferent to ScarJo, but I do appreciate the fact she took the time to visit them.
That being said, doesn't matter where our troops are stationed in the world. They all make enormous sacrifices for our country. My BF serves in Korea right now, and while it's not nearly as dangerous as Iraq, this does not make his sacrifice any less important.
48s l u t .
49she always does this right.
The marines are hot, she -- Is not.. Nothing said overpriced hooker like a tube of red lipstick .. BARF!
See, that's why I love this site there's so many who think the way I do about that over done wannabe h0.
