this is more shocking than Diana's death. He seemed so happy and successful! I keep thinking it's a very perverse practical joke!

I thought his performance in Brokeback was amazing. He really conveyed the idea that this was a LOVE story between 2 men, not a lust story. I think he really helped share the internal struggle and shame that a lot of gay people experience in a society that can be pretty harsh.

He was very articulate and had a rare quality that you don't find in many actors of today. I think sadly, people are just realizing how talented Heath actually was after the fact.

There will be many questions as to why? If I would've or shouldve.....but Heath was not your average guy and he was a much deeper soul than any of us knew.

He seemed to be not a happy as he once was since the break up of his relationship with Michelle. It's hard to watch someone battle demons and the only one that can help is the actual person themselves.

I wish Michelle and the Matilda nothing but comfort in knowing that they were a part of this wonderful talent's life and no one will ever be able to take that or the memories away.

He was so beautiful... I can't believe this is real..

Nice slide show. He was an interesting man. Always thought he was a little deeper than other actors his age. Didn't spend much time with the young Hollywood set and other than Michelle, mostly courted significantly older women. (Heather Graham, Naomi Watts, and friends with Helena Christiansen.)

Again, this is another sad day in Hollywood. What a great loss to the industry.

i got back to my office yesterday and i started seeing all these emails about heath having passed.. i couldn't believe it.. this is incredibly sad and heartbreaking. he was such a wonderful actor and he seems to have been just as much a wonderful man, father, friend.
my deepest condolences just go out in the world and i hope they reach the family.

Its so terrible...so many people seem so genuinely affected by his death.

I do have to say that the media is getting out of hand...there have been so many false statements made about the cause of his death. Everytime i read something, theres an update saying that it was false. I just wish they would get their story right, this isnt just some story...its someones family and loved one they are messing with.

i agree... it was a beautiful and touching tribute. i cried while looking through the slideshow.. a lot of people are feeling incredibly sad during this time and i too am a bit surprised at how deeply this is affecting me. i hope he can rest in peace. my thoughts are with his family and especially matilda

I still can't stop thinking about it. It truly has affected me like no other death. It's not even that we were all huge fans of his...it was who he was and the life he led (or seemed to) that makes it so shocking.

Work kept me busy today or I would have been on Pop looking for updates and posting comments to all the new posts about him. I can't get over it. Those pictures are heartbreaking. My heart breaks for Michelle...I feel bad that the paps were in her face at the airport (not that we didn't know it would be that way).

I was talking to my sister about this... Why is heath's death soo shocking? I'm still in shock myself but I can't help but question why...

We tend to dramatize these things. Its not shocking; its simply surprising. We don't expect younger people to die. Whether it was accidental or his choice its a sad thing that he's died. I feel empathy for his family and young daughter who will truly feel the loss much more deeply than we, the public, can.

This is just so awful. And it seems like it was accidental - regardless of any past drug use, he was an insomniac and had been traveling (jet lag)/ill. I have been a big fan since 10 Things I Hate About You. I can't stop thinking about what a tragedy this is. Poor guy.

I kind of wish he died here in Australia, so the media circus (particularly surrounding his body) wouldn't have been quite so bad. It was well known that he never liked being hounded by paps.

There have honestly only been two famous people's deaths that have bothered me personally. I find it a little odd that they both were from Australia, Steve Irwin and now Heath Leger. Both died way to young in my opinion and left behind children that will never really know them. I hope his family is able to find peace in this and my heart goes out to them. He will be missed greatly.

I am so in aw on what has happened to such a talented person. My son is 2 days older than Matilda, and I can't imagine Aidan losing his Daddy. It is really heartbreaking. Although physical memories may fade from her mind, I can only hope that she keeps his spirit in her heart and know that he is always with her.

I also hope the stalkarazzi will leave his family alone and allow them to grieve, as they would want that for themselves.

My heart really goes out to Matilda and Michelle. Those two ladies are going to need a lot of love and support, and I'm afraid they'll be hounded by paparazzi instead.

He was SUCH a good actor, and a great person off-screen as well as talented on-screen. You never saw him flaunt his status as a movie star in public, nor did he crave the publicity of fame like Spears and Lohan seem to. Just an all-around good guy, who had enormous talent and respect for his craft.

I am really going to miss him as an actor. It is such a tragedy.

Someone mentioned that he was looking sad after his split with Michelle... that could be true, cause they looked so happy together. My heart goes to Michelle & Matilda.

So shock and saddened buy such news. I honestly hope his death was a n accident and nothing more. It’s better to know that people will remember him for who he was and what he did rather than by what he died of.

i was so happy to hit this site up today and not find one unconfirmed fact after another about the circumstances involving his death.

Heath never seemed to give a stuff about being a celebrity and i can't imagine him or his family and friends appreciating the media circus that has started up over his death.

He was a great actor and he came across as a decent guy in his interviews. i hope he is peaceful whereever he is and his little girl and family and friends are able to grieve in private and remember him the way he deserved.
