It's hard to believe it's been 22 years since Adam Sandler first joined the cast of Saturday Night Live and set his long career in motion. This week, we're testing your knowledge of the funnyman's many roles. See if you know your Longfellow Deeds from your Robbie Hart by matching each image to its corresponding movie title.
That's My Boy: That's Your Bad
There was a time when seeing an Adam Sandler movie didn't necessarily mean watching overly obnoxious characters in a weak narrative strung together by inane plot twists. Unfortunately, That's My Boy perpetuates the "ugh" response that Sandler's films have been getting as of late. The year is 1984; after a romance with sexy teacher Ms. McGarrigle (Eva Amurri Martino), 13-year-old Donny (Sandler) ends up in the national spotlight, lauded for "living the dream" and pasted on magazine covers. Too bad he's also stuck with a baby as a product of the affair. Fast forward to present day, when now-deadbeat Donny shows up days before his estranged son Todd's (Samberg) wedding, hoping his kid will be the key to fixing his financial woes. Clearly mortified by his father's disheveled appearance and general lack of social graces, Todd tries to pass off Donny as an old friend, but Donny uses his inexplicable charms to worm his way into spending the weekend with the group.
The silly plot is just one of the many issues plaguing That's My Boy. Between the bodily-fluid gags, which are painful for both the characters and the audience, and Sandler's grating Boston accent, the movie only works if you're willing to accept the stupidity because it's an Adam Sandler movie. Great Movie Dads: Adam Sandler
When I think of great fathers in movies, Adam Sandler isn't the first name that comes to mind. But when you take a look back at his long list of movies, quite a few of his hits feature him playing family man. Some of the stories are similar — overworked guy doesn't appreciate his family until something happens and then he learns not to take the small moments for granted — but he does bring that certain Sandler charm to every role. Check out his best head-of-the-household roles in honor of Father's Day!
That's My Boy Trailer: Adam Sandler Is Andy Samberg's Deadbeat Dad
We're still trying to get Adam Sandler's 2011 movie Jack and Jill out of our minds, but his next project isn't looking any better. In That's My Boy, Sandler stars as a crude, womanizing loser who gets into trouble with the IRS and decides to hit up his wealthy estranged son (Samberg) for cash. As the two collide, Sandler starts infiltrating Samberg's clean, preppy, life — and not at all for the better.
The best part about this trailer is seeing Samberg playing it straight, rather than his typical off-the-wall characters. Unfortunately, the rest of the preview is pretty lame; uninspired jokes, raunchy humor, visible puke, and the like. Even as a Sandler fan, I can already tell that I'm not going to like his character in this; is it too much to ask for him to make more movies like Funny People and Punch Drunk Love? The movie hits theaters just in time for Father's Day, but watch the preview when you read more

Jack and Jill: A Comedy That Heads Downhill
We all have that obnoxious relative we dread having to spend time with over the holidays. For ad executive Jack Sadelstein (Adam Sandler) in Jack and Jill, that relative is twin sister Jill (again, Adam Sandler), who visits her brother every Thanksgiving. Jill looks forward to spending time with Jack and his wife Erin (played by Katie Holmes in a sweet but bland role), as well as their two children every year. But Jill is harder to get along with, as she is loud (and she travels with an even louder pet cockatiel), incredibly needy, and she takes the time to point out others' flaws. It's no wonder Jack hates spending time with her, but it begs the question: If he doesn't want to, why should we? The answer, of course, is we shouldn't.
The fact that the film's humor rests on the novelty of seeing Sandler dressed as a woman should serve as a clue to the type of lazy humor you are going to get with this movie. Throwing a wig on Sandler and hearing him speak in a high-pitched voice isn't that funny, and neither are a lot of the jokes. Adam Sandler Says He Did "Shirtless Things" to Get Katie Holmes on Board For Jack and Jill
Katie Holmes and Adam Sandler costar in the holiday comedy Jack and Jill, and we recently sat down with the pair at their LA junket. Adam, who plays twin siblings in the flick, said Katie was a joy to work with, though he had to woo her into accepting the role by doing "shirtless things." Katie was equally excited to work with Adam and admitted she's been a huge fan of his films for years — Jack and Jill hits theaters on Friday.
Katie Holmes Hits the Jack and Jill Red Carpet in Her Own Design!
Adam Sandler and Katie Holmes teamed up in LA last night for the premiere of Jack and Jill. His wife, Jackie Titone, posed for photos on the red carpet, though Katie's spouse, Tom Cruise, wasn't able to attend due to his work commitments in Pennsylvania for One Shot. Katie was decked out in a two-toned dress from her Holmes & Yang line, pairing the frock with shoes from Lanvin. The screening was the final event in a weekend of togetherness for Katie and Adam. They were busy with junket interviews over the last few days — stay tuned for those on PopSugar soon! The comedy, which is out on Nov. 11, marks Katie's return to the big screen after August's Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, and she also has The Son of No One out Nov. 4. Katie's done time on TV recently as well, having starred as "the slutty pumpkin" on How I Met Your Mother.
