It's Friday, time to reach back into the archives for another memorable pop culture moment. We're gearing up for the Oscars and with Angelina and Brad spending time with their family in Italy it's unlikely they'll be in attendance in LA this weekend. In this week's Flashback Friday, we're taking a trip back to year 2000 with Angelina's Oscar acceptance speech for her role in Girl, Interrupted. Her wardrobe and hair created lots to talk about but most memorable may have been proclamation of love for her brother during the speech. Happy Friday!

this might be her only oscar but, these are the harderst awards to get. look at how many times robin williams and evern denzel washington have been snubbed. its not easy people.

ppl who don't like angie won't like this speech and will find any reason to defile it. it's understandable, this was one of Angie's crowning moments that proves she is an established actor. unlike a certain orange-skinned aging actress who couldn't keep a man if her life depended on it, because romantic comedies usually don't get Oscar awards.
Still one of the strangest and creepiest acceptance speeches ever. To those saying it isn't weird to say you love family (parents, siblings, etc.), I agree. What is odd is to declare that you are IN LOVE with any of those people. And to I Choose Me, the kissing everyone refers to between Jolie and her brother at that Oscars was not the demure kiss you saw before she accepted her award, but the red carpet kisses that occurred between them before and after the show - those were definitely not G-rated normal family kisses. That speech also confirms how Jolie likes to rewrite history: note her gushing about her father being a great actor and "even better father." Yet once he spoke out against her and she cut him out of her life, she suddenly started declaring that her father had abandoned her at a young age and never was much of a father after that point. Odd since there are plenty of pics of the two of them together, and up to at least 2000 she was praising his parenting.

If you think that loving a family member is incestuous or immoral you ARE twisted, period. So if you love your father, your mother, your cousin etc. you are no doubt having relations "banging" them? You really have a BIG problem in your life and family to think that way. I hope you are not raising any children and if you are please get treatment before you ruin their lives as well. I feel so sorry for you for obviously there is not much love in your family since you find it so disgusting.
i'm pretty sure she didn't mean it like that! it was just a poor choice of words in a hyper emotional moment.
People say stuff like I really love these shoes, that bag, that house. They may even say God I love you so much for saying/doing that, to a friend, colleage or even a stranger so to me saying "I'm so in love with my brother RIGHT NOW" - (as in on this very special and emotional occasion for me) is not so weird and actually very sweet. The brief kiss on the lips was a non-issue for me as well. Of course to hear other people tell it, some who haven't even seen the footage of the infamous kiss it was a french kiss and she must be therefore or was at the time f*cking her brother. Just because a thing is repeated often enough doesn't make it true but I realize that some are gonna dislike her no matter what as is their right. I just wish people wouldn't post (this includes bloggers) their wishes and opinions as fact.

she's so beautiful. the speech was real and very emotional. so what if she made it seem like there is more between her brother and her than legal or normal? it's speculative and gross to even insinuate.

the speech would've been lovely (and I am NOT a fan) if she didn't say that...it IS weird and if you don't think so, you're probably banging a family member too...didn't she hate her dad back then too? odd that she thanked him but that's a fcuked up family

I loved Girl, interrupted. Amazing movie and incredible interpretation!!! She deserved that OSCAR!. #2 so true!... I'm not a fan but Lisa's character was freakin' great!, Angelina Jolie is a great actress.

To Poster #2: It may be her first and last oscar so far BUT DON'T FORGET that she has won also three(3) Golden Globe awards, two (2)Screen Actors Guild Awards and an Academy Award. Aside from that, she has also won outstanding awards on television miniseries, ect and she was also nominated many times. Need I say more?
