Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger are married! The couple tied the knot in the South of France on July 1 after a few days of festivities with friends and family. Avril and Chad kicked off celebrations with a rehearsal dinner on Saturday. Avril wore a flowing white dress and flower crown for the prewedding event while Chad was dressed up in a suit. For the nuptials, however, Avril changed into a strapless black gown — a far cry from her first wedding dress — and toasted to her new husband on the balcony in front of the crowd.
It's not too surprising that the bride wore black; after her first wedding to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley in 2006, Avril opened up about the pressure to choose a more "traditional" wedding dress to Jane magazine, saying, "I was like, 'I've been dreaming about my wedding day since I was a little girl. I have to wear the white dress.' I wanted to be a princess, okay? People thought I would have done, like, some black wedding dress, and yeah, I would have. But at the same time I was thinking about our picture."
The weekend also brought casual time for Chad and Avril, who spent an afternoon in the sun lounging on a yacht, where Avril bared her midriff in a cropped tee and drank cocktails between showing PDA with her man. Chad proposed to Avril in August 2012 with a 14-carat diamond ring — see more of the best celebrity engagement rings — after they began dating just a few months earlier that Summer.
