The BET Honors event held last night in Washington DC was treated to an extra dose of hotness thanks to three gorgeous ladies. Alicia Keys looked super chic in a black halter CD Greene dress accessorized with John Hardy gold hoop earrings; Halle Berry, recipient of the BET Award for Service, glowed in a strapless red tie-dye printed Monique Lhuillier dress, strappy gold Brian Atwood shoes, and Karine Sultan jewelry; and Gabrielle Union brought the heat in a military green Emilio Pucci long-sleeve gown featuring a sexy keyhole detail. How Mo' Nique Lost the Weight and Why Some Don't Like It
Everywhere I look lately I'm seeing comedienne Mo'Nique. She's got a new late-night talk show on BET, is making the talk show rounds, and is creating some serious Oscar buzz for her standout performance as an abusive mother in Precious. Oh, and also, she's about 50 lbs. lighter.
The stand-up comic has spent a career embracing her big girl status, often telling fans: bigger is better. But on a recent appearance on the Oprah show Mo'Nique shared that slimming down was a matter of life and death.
In 2006, at 262 lbs, she was diagnosed with high blood pressure and doctors warned that she was on a fast track to a short life. In late 2007, Mo'Nique made the decision to lose the weight. A decision, she says, that has alienated some of her fans who looked to her as a symbol that being big is OK. She still thinks that being big is beautiful, but says that being healthy and alive is even better.

The 2008 BET Award Winners
Well, there may not have been any robot suits at this year's BET Awards, but there was plenty of other entertainment, starting with Usher's pyrotechnic performance and continuing through T. Pain's transformation of the awards show into a circus. He told the audience to "ride with the ringleader," since "this industry is my circus."

There were some fierce performances from the female side as well, with Alicia Keys bringing up girl groups of yore, SWV, En Vogue and TLC, for a medley of the groups' hits, which definitely got "Waterfalls" stuck in my head for the foreseeable future. Kanye West took away two awards and performed with Young Jeezy. The actor and actress taking home awards this year were Halle Berry and Denzel Washington, and Al Green received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Madonna Brings Out Her Inner Party Girl
We have nothing but love for Madonna, but she was looking a little over the top (even for her) in her fur and layers of gold chains as she headed to tape 106 & Park in NYC yesterday. Maybe she was a bit hung over while she was getting dressed since she admitted to Ryan Seacrest that she and Justin Timberlake partied after their mini-concert Wednesday night. Madonna said, "[We] decided we both work too hard and have to have fun. I had a shot of tequila ... I may have had a lemon drop, too … We 'tied one on' as they say." We all know that Madonna is one of Hollywood's hardest workers, whether it is her family, her career or her rigorous fitness and diet regime, so we're relieved that she still knows how to cut loose every now and then.
Whose Curly Hair Did You Like Best at BET?
Check out all of these talented ladies who were making waves at the 2007 BET Awards on Tuesday night. We've already taken a closer look at Beyonce's bright eyeliner, and now we're comparing curly hair. My pick is Kelly Rowland. Who's yours?

Which Bright Eye Color Looks Better on Beyonce?
Beyonce isn't afraid of keeping bold colors in her makeup case, as proven when she showed up wearing lime green eyeliner at last night's BET awards. I think she looks great both ways, but I slightly prefer the light blue shadow she sported last month. Which do you like more?
Best Of BET
Double winner Jennifer Hudson kicked off the BET Awards last night with a show stopping performance of And I am Telling You with Jennifer Holiday. Beyonce took a break from her vacation in the French Riviera to pick up an award for Best Female R&B Artist. She also literally shined in her insane Balengiaca gear to perform Get Me Bodied last night. What do you think about her sci-fi getup - love it or hate it? Other highlights include Stevie Wonder performing, Diana Ross' hair, Alicia Keys spreading some peace and Don Cheadle doing Darfur good. 2007 BET Award Winners
At this year's BET Awards, held last night at Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Dreamgirls stars Jennifer Hudson and Beyonce came out on top. Each lady brought home two awards: Hudson for Best New Artist and Best Actress, and Beyonce for Best Female R&B Artist along with Video of the Year for "Irreplaceable." Beyonce also gave a whole new meaning to doing "the robot" in her crazy mirrored gold leggings.

Mo'Nique hosted the awards for the third year in a row. Other notable winners include Forest Whitaker for Best Actor, T.I. won (again) for Best Hip-Hop Artist, LeBron James took home Male Athlete of the Year while Serena Williams was named Female Athlete of the Year. Scoring the Lifetime Achievement Award was Diana Ross, and Don Cheadle was honored for his efforts to raise awareness about the genocide in Darfur.

The Sh*ttiest Mixtape Boom Box Bet
Take two guys, two mix tapes, one big ass boom box, and one bet. The guy who could create the shittiest mix tape was named the winner. The loser had to swallow his pride (and risk his personal safety!) and hit the mean streets of NYC with both playlists blaring from a boom box. Aziz, the loser, gets into it, rockin' out to Sixpence None the Richer's "Kiss Me" (a song that even I, a chick, find embarrassing), among other "best to listen to in the privacy of your own home" tunes. The glares from passersby are worth the time it takes to watch this...
