A Brightening, Peel-Off Mask

Want glowing skin without using tons of expensive products and treatments? Well, a homemade peel-off mask is exactly what you need to brighten up your skin without a trip to the spa. So today, I'm gonna show you how to make one with a few simple steps and a secret special ingredient. And what ingredient is that exactly? Gelatin. And, no, we're not putting a Jello mold on her face, but gelatin gives the mask a consistency so that it peels off and doesn't just stick to your skin. Here's what you'll need: two packets of gelatin, plain and unflavored; half a cup of green tea, brewed; juice from half of a lemon; and two egg whites or two tablespoons of carton egg white. Before we get started, we need to juice our lemon. And lemons are great for any home face mask because they contain vitamin C, which brightens, and citric acid which is a great exfoliant and helps slough off dead skin. Next, mix two packets of gelatin with half a cup of brewed green tea. Green tea calms and soothes the skin, while the gelatin creates the peeling off effect on the face. I like using two packets of gelatin because it creates a better consistency with your tea, lemon, and egg whites. Before you add your egg white, combine your lemon juice with your gelatin and green tea and then pop in the microwave for 20 seconds or heat on the stove until the gelatin is completely dissolved. This is important for the consistency of the mask because you don't want it to be too gooey. Then remove from the microwave or the stove and mix thoroughly. Let your mask cool and then add egg whites, which get rid of whiteheads and soothe the skin because of the protein. And they feel like they tighten, so you'll get an extra lift while mattifying. Just don't add your egg whites Before you microwave or they will get a fluffy scrambled egg texture and you'll have to start over.The mask has need to be cold when you apply but it does need to be at room temperature that you don't burn your face and a simple trick to cooling it off is just stick it in the refrigerator for 10 minutes. But don't let it get firm, it needs to be in liquid form for you to apply to your face. When the mask is ready, it won't be stick like jell-o, but it will have a gooey consistency so you can easily spread it across your face. You can use your fingers or a makeup brush if you like. Just be sure to lay it on stick so you can easily peel it off your face. If you don't, it will come off in short strips and you won't get the full peeling off effect. After three minutes, apply another generous layer of the mask to your face. It's better if you have a little bit more because it's easier to peel that way. Then wait 20 to 30 minutes until the mask you completely dry and then you're ready to peel. Once it's dry it's time for the fun part, peeling off the mask. Your face will feel a little tight which is when you know it's ready. So start peeling and if there are any spots you can't get, just use warm water and a wash cloth to remove. And voila, your skin should look immediately bright and feel firm and mattified. But always do not leave this mask on overnight or you could seriously over dry your skin.
