Can Jessica Succeed As A Country Star?

Jessica Simpson has never been shy about branching out and taking on new ventures. We've seen her acting and designing, but it really all started with pop. It looks like Jess is ready to focus on her singing career again, but now she wants to give country music a try. Joe Simpson told People that Jessica is "talking about doing a country record and going back to her roots, being from Texas." She's had hit pop albums in the past but what do you think- can Jessica be a country music success?

Why does everyone keep saying she hasn't been successful? That's just crazy! Did you not see the size of her house on MTV? SEVERAL fashion trends started because of her. Yes, she hasn't been as big as Brit, but thank God! We all know where that leads! I'm not sure how she'll do as a country singer but I don't fault her for trying. I think she has a great voice, a very SUCESSFUl clothing line, and a good singing career.

Eh. I can't see it, but who knows? If Paris freakin' Hilton can record an album of ANY genre and actually sell some CD's, then Jessica has a pretty good chance of making it in country.

For me no it wont be a hit. I have never really enjoyed her music. I used to think as a person she was nice but now something about her I just don't understand.

sonnia x, you think her acting was successful? Maybe strutting around in small tight clothes -- the less, the better to take away from the fact it is so incredibly painful to watch her struggle through her lines. Even on her commercials, she seems to have trouble saying, "I use ProActiv." She is a very lovely looking girl for all that she dresses like a tart. In country music, she could try to be a cheaper version of Faith Hill -- her vocals are no where near as powerful and I suppose Faith is the sort of blond Jessica probably wants to be seen as. You know, powerful, stable, gorgeous. But in acting I don't think she brings any depth to her characters at all. It's all just a good-looking surface.

Ugh. I really can't stand this girl. As much as I would love to say that being from Texas has nothing to do with being able to put out a country album, I have to think her annoyingly breathy voice would probably work better with country than pop.

Actually, I think she could do REALLY well at country music. I've never liked her music, but she has real vocal talent. And she's so over-the-top, Country music fans love that!

Well I don't like or hate the girl. Although I do not like what I heard she did in her marriage. But then there are two sides to every story, and I don't wish to hear either side. That's their business.As for her trying county...no clue...I will be fair and judge that one when they place a sample on Pop Sugar *like they did with Britney* before I down her too much.I'll wait on Pop Sugar to let me physically hear something.

she is so annoying and "going back to her roots"? She left texas when she was like 16 and maybe comes back for a couple days once a year, then she wears a "texas" shirt like shes some proud citizen of the state? i wish she would just go away..and quit trying to represent texas

i like some of her pop music, but i've never thought she was a great singer. maybe the twang of country music can help her disguise that and find her niche!
