Cate Blanchett Honors Philip Seymour Hoffman at BAFTAs

Cate Blanchett Gives a Heartfelt Tribute to Philip Seymour Hoffman

Cate Blanchett won big at the BAFTA Awards in London on Sunday, taking home the best actress award for her portrayal of a disgraced socialite in Blue Jasmine. But for Cate, the moment wasn't all about celebrating her work. During her acceptance speech, the actress turned the spotlight on a dear friend and costar, the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. "I would like to dedicate this to an actor who has been a continual, profound touchstone for me, a monumental presence who is now so sadly in absence," she said.

Cate and Philip costarred in 1999's The Talented Mr. Ripley. She attended Philip's funeral in NYC on Feb. 7 and recently canceled TV appearances to grieve the loss of her pal. Watch the video below to hear Cate's touching speech in its entirety.
