- Neon nail polish technically isn't approved for use by the Food and Drug Administration, which has to authorize new beauty products before they hit the market. "Colorants used to create, neon, day-glo or glow-in-the-dark nail polishes have not gone through the FDA approval process, so technically they are not allowed for use for nail polish applications," said Doug School, chief scientific officer for Creative Nail Design. - Salvatore Ferragamo is renewing its It brand status thanks to its clothing and shoes being seen on the backs of stars like Lady Gaga. George Clooney and Stacy Keibler stepped out for dinner with good friends Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber in LA last night. The vacation buddies exchanged hugs and kisses as they went their separate ways after the double date, and at least one half of the foursome will be headed east to Washington DC this weekend. George and Stacy are among the celebrities attending the White House Correspondents' Dinner tomorrow evening, where they'll be joining everyone from Sofia Vergara to Kim Kardashian. It's been quite the politics-filled Spring for George, after both he and his father got arrested during a protest in front of the Sudanese embassy in March. Clooney is also hosting an Obama fundraiser at his home next month to help lend his A-list clout to the president's campaign.
Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder were together in LA for yesterday's John Varvatos Stuart House benefit, which raises funds for the rape treatment center at Santa Monica-UCLA hospital. Dave Matthews performed, and Leslie Mann cohosted a silent auction with husband Judd Apatow. The annual event also brought out Hollywood couples like a loved-up Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, as well as Rachel Zoe and Rodger Berman. Rachel and Rodger made the rounds with their almost 1-year-old son Skyler, who celebrates his first birthday on March 22. Nina and Ian are in California during a break from working on The Vampire Diaries in Atlanta. The Vampire Diaries cast was at Paley Fast on Saturday, but yesterday's highlight for Ian was meeting Alice Cooper. He tweeted about the magnitude of meeting his former idol, writing, "What a weekend . . . I use to air guitar that dude when I was a youngster." Nina, meanwhile, had another connection to Rachel Zoe. At the Paley panel, Nina donned a black dress from the Rachel Zoe Collection. Nina told us that she was hopping on a plane right after the Varvatos event to return to her and Ian's Georgia set.

Last night's amfAR gala in NYC brought out a roster of celebrities and models to toast the AIDS-fighting charity on the eve of Fashion Week. Fall 2012 Fashion Week begins today, but there were plenty of gorgeous gowns on display yesterday. Host Sarah Jessica Parker donned a pink Oscar de la Renta gown, which she paired with a leather motorcycle jacket and white gloves while posing for pictures. Leighton Meester broke from filming Gossip Girl to hit the carpet in Louis Vuitton, while other ladies like Julianne Moore, Cindy Crawford, and Elizabeth Hurley wore Roberto Cavalli. Even Leonardo DiCaprio's current squeeze, Erin Heatherton, stepped out in Cavalli. It was Heidi Klum's first public event post-split from husband Seal, and she too wore Cavalli.The guests were treated to dinner, an auction, and performances from Theophilus London and Janelle Monáe.
