A lot of organizations WANT to release news about large high profile donations because it helps attract more donors.
Has anyone ever heard about anonymous donors? Anyone? It can be done if one wants to.

All the monotheistic religions have verbiage about giving charity quietly. The stuff we mostly hear about is because some organization involved made a press release, which may benefit them in getting more donations, so I can't fault the organizations for that. There are a lot of lesser known causes the Jolie Pitts do donate to, which don't get the kind of coverage as a major hospital or UN.

Not getting preachy, but I believe the scriptures say somthing like, when you give, give in secret... A lot of her charitable stuff is made public by someone and has been made public for a while and that I am a bit worn out with hearing about. I wonder if she kept her giving a secret from us if that would be a good thing? If she is not giving to me, I have know need to know about.

people please she give a thrid of her in come they just gave 1 million dollar to the matter. Just because she cares and bring attention it doesn't mean she shouldn't do what please her. Why don't you tell your stars who are actually richer than her to give at list a third of their in come at least instead?

Anonymous can't read very well. The donation which included the Pitt siblings was a different million dollar donation this week, for a pediatric cancer hospital in Missouri. If you read more than you spewed, you might know that the Jolie Pitts donate approx 1/3 of their income each year to a variety of charities. As for the rental on Long Island, since that's for the duration of her shooting a film there, it's probably either subsidized by the film company, which is the usual practice to house the talent and crew when shooting on location.

The average American donates 10% of their income to Church or other charity. Angie should be $22 millioin but could only spare a portion of a million. Basically, she's only donating less than 1% of her earnings.
~junkies_la Can't you read? She didn't donate the million just herself, it was the entire Pit family. Brad's brothers, their wives and parents. I do contribute to many causes myself and I never call the press for praise about it.

Just because these people are rich does not mean they have an obligation to give so much money to donations especially when they already give money (which by the by a million is alot of money)!

At this point the only one it is helping is her. Nothing is changing over there and it won't until the government there uses the money for the people. 9 Years and $196 billion and it is not doing any good. It's paying the UN wages but that about all. I don't know the answer but I don't think throwing money at it is working. Sure we feel sorry for them, we feel sorry for anyone that doesn't have a home, or food and is sick.

I wonder how she can live it up in her 75 million dollar estate and know (first hand even!) that these poor refugees have nothing to eat let alone a roof of any sort over their childs head!
I think she she's making a difference however, perhaps if she sold half of her 100 million dollars of real-estate she could really help these refugees. The ENTIRE Pitt family donated this 1 million dollar donation but as always Angie is quite comfortable accepting all the credit.
