Rachel Bilson, AnnaLynne McCord, and More Celebrate TV With Cocktails

Rachel Bilson, AnnaLynne McCord, and Lucy Liu were among the actresses who stepped out for last night's CW, CBS, and Showtime 2012 Summer TCA Party at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. The ladies were out to support their TV shows Hart of Dixie, 90210, and CBS's new Sherlock-based Elementary, respectively. They were ready for cocktails and mingling after their network hosted panels touting the new seasons of their programs during the day. Lucy joined her leading man, Jonny Lee Miller, to explain how their version of Sherlock Holmes is different from Robert Downey Jr.'s big-screen franchise and the BBC's Sherlock. For starters, Lucy, a woman, plays Watson, Sherlock's sidekick.

Rachel, AnnaLynne, and Lucy made the rounds saying hi to Showtime stars Michael C. Hall, of Dexter, Episodes' Matt LeBlanc, and Don Cheadle from House of Lies. AnnaLynne's 90210 costars Jessica Lowndes and Matt Lanter were on hand, too. Rounding things out for the three networks were a handful of CBS leading ladies like Two Broke Girls's Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings. Click through to see even more stars, including Jaime King, Tyra Banks, Lisa Kudrow, and Katie Cassidy.

Goats Trailer: David Duchovny Is a Dirty Herder

Do you like delightful, coming-of-age stories but always wish there were more goats involved?

Do you like delightful, coming-of-age stories but always wish there were more goats involved? If so, then indie comedy Goats is for you. Graham Phillips (The Good Wife) plays Ellis, a teenager who's grown up in Tucson under the guidance of his hippie mother (Vera Farmiga) and the wise, bearded Goat Man (David Duchovny) who lives in their garage. Now headed to the East Coast boarding school near his estranged father (Ty Burrell), Ellis gets a peek at what his life would be like had he chosen to live with the man who left his family to start a new one.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the Goats trailer. I'm a sucker for David Duchovny, and he does that whole distant, wise dude thing pretty well. I'm still a little fuzzy on the relationship between Ellis and his dad, but all the relationships feel so realistic (even Goat Man's) that I'm looking forward to seeing the family dynamics play out. The movie opens in limited release on Aug. 10, but watch the trailer when you read more.

David Duchovny and Natascha McElhone cuddled up for a stroll on the set of Californication in Venice Beach yesterday. The actors are currently working on season five of the Showtime series, and it seems a reunion may be in store for their characters since David and Natascha were also spotted making out on the beach for the cameras Wednesday. David and Natascha had a break from their tumultuous onscreen relationship during their hiatus, giving him time off to attend basketball games and charity events. He was on hand in Santa Monica on Sunday for the Pedal on the Pier fundraiser, which is usually held in NYC's Central Park. David also lent his celebrity to help keep the dog population under control by encouraging people to sterilize their pets. Natascha, meanwhile, enjoyed a few months off with her three sons back near their London home base.

Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz made yesterday's Knicks vs. Heat game at NYC's Madison Square Garden their own personal date night with lots of kisses and whispers in their court-side seats. The happy parents of 3-month-old Egypt were able to celebrate the home team's win against LeBron James's squad with other fans like Spike Lee, Kanye West, Sam Worthington, and David Duchovny. Alicia and Swizz had an additional reason to party earlier this week, when she turned 30 on Tuesday — she's among the many celebs who are marking that milestone in 2011! She was grateful for all the love she received from fans, and took to Twitter to write, "Thank you so much for all of your birthday wishes! I'm so grateful for your love and another year ahead! Blessings and love to my family!" Her evening of basketball with husband Swizz was their latest fun one out on the town, after they toasted his new job at NYU with a party late last year.

David Duchovny Talks Surprising Himself on Californication

David Duchovny and his Californication castmates gave the Winter TCA some great quotes today, but Duchovny also took a minute to chat about the Showtime series with some reporters.

David Duchovny and his Californication castmates gave the Winter TCA some great quotes today, but Duchovny also took a minute to chat about the Showtime series with some reporters. He talked about how he keeps Hank Moody interesting, the heart of the show, and joked about adding in his own bits to episodes.

How do you keep it interesting when you play the same character for years?
David Duchovny: In a way you keep discovering the character. You just kind of remain open to wherever the new storylines are taking you. I'm lucky enough to have really good actors to play along with, not just people who are there every year like Evan and Natasha (McElhone) and Pam (Adlon) and Madeleine (Martin), but people like Carla (Gugino), people like Rob (Lowe), or Kathleen Turner. Actors push one another around into different places. It's kind of an unconscious thing, kind of an instinctual thing. There's a joy in television that's greater than film. It's closer to stagework. In doing something over and over you get to different levels than you would if you had just moved on.

Would you say that Hank is detached?
DD: He is kind of detached. Hank is a guy who doesn't say no, be it drugs, or sex, or experience. What's interesting about him is that he doesn't seek many things out, he's just a magnet that things come to. And in terms of detachment, I think it's true; it's detachment, but an objectivity.

10 Standout Quotes From Californication's Winter TCA Panel

The cast and creators of Californication stopped by the Winter TCA in good spirits — it was announced that the show has already been renewed for a fifth season.

The cast and creators of Californication stopped by the Winter TCA in good spirits — it was announced that the show has already been renewed for a fifth season. Star and executive producer David Duchovny sipped champagne on stage with costars Evan Handler, Carla Gugino, Pamela Adlon, and Madeleine Martin and creator Tom Kapinos as they chatted about the show. Amid jokes and expletives, they talked about what to expect in the current season and how they feel about the series. Here are my favorite quotes from the panel.

  1. "It's an honest smell." — Duchovny, expanding on his joke that Hank keeps pulling in women because of his natural pheromones.
  2. "My hairstylist can make a lot of sh*t happen." — Duchovny, on how his hairstylist played a pivotal role in snagging Lowe.
  3. Martin, on not watching every scene of the show: "I find it's easier to relate if I don't see scenes Becca wouldn't see. I don't need to see Hank naked."
    Duchovny: "I'm feeling shame."
  4. "Porn is real people having sex on film, and these people aren't real, so no, I don't think we've ever gone too far" — Kapinos, on a reporter comparing Californication's sex scenes to porn.
  5. "She may seem cold and critical but it's actually her form of self-preservation." — Martin, on why Becca is so hard on Hank.

Talk Turns to Twilight at the CBS TCA Party For Ed Westwick, AnnaLynne McCord, and More!

After a full day at the TCA panels, the stars of CBS, CW and Showtime stepped out for their star-studded bash.

After a full day at the TCA panels, the stars of CBS, CW and Showtime stepped out for their star-studded bash. Ed Westwick was a treat to chat with as he represented the Gossip Girl cast. He was eager to talk about the fate of Chuck Bass and even share his thoughts on Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. The cast of 90210 took a break from their busy Summers to attend as well. AnnaLynne McCord has had a great few months of traveling with her boyfriend Kellan Lutz, but it turns out that Eclipse wasn't her favorite blockbuster of the season — it's a tie between Inception and Iron Man 2 because of their two amazing lead actors! Her costar Matt Lanter has his own Twilight connection after appearing in the spoof Vampires Suck, and he revealed that he read the first of Stephenie Meyers's books "as research." Matt hasn't had the chance to meet Rob, but he would love to one day.

Jerry O'Connell, meanwhile, took a break from promoting The Defenders to gush about his life with the twins and wife, Rebecca Romijn. He says that being a dad of girls is the only way to go! David Duchovny and Ashley Tisdale also turned out for the celebration, and he's busy today with a panel for Californication, as she chats up her new show Hellcats — there's lots more to come, so stay tuned to Buzz on Twitter for updates from the panels!

David Duchovny played in the waves shirtless while his wife Téa Leoni stayed dry on the sand in Malibu on Sunday. The couple took advantage of David's weekend off from filming Californication to enjoy their beach time, which is a frequent favorite spot to hang out with their kids. Their family has long been fans of spending time together outdoors during his hiatuses from working on the Showtime series, which will be back in September with the fourth season.
