Did you breastfeed or bottlefeed your baby?

This week is World Breastfeeding Week, so it just got me wondering how you fed your baby. I nursed my sons until they were both around 6 months and then I switched to formula. The transition was a little rough for a week or so, but they both got through it just fine. Also - if you nursed your child, how long did you do it for?

Well, my first I tried to breastfeed, but he was always to sleepy and lost a lot of weight, so when I got him home I bottle fed him exclusively after the first week he had pumped breast milk for the first week. My second I breastfed for two months when I found out I was pregnant with my third who I breastfed for 6 months then got on the pill and gave him formula. My fourth I breastfed her until she was year old and my last son I breastfed for fourteen months. I think breastfeeding is just more intimate and convenient, but I have done both.

I breastfed my daughter for 14 months. I had to go back to work when she was only 7 weeks old, so I pumped the entire time! We nursed at home and took pumped milk at daycare. I'm pretty proud of the fact that she never had formula.

I didn't breastfeed. I had twins and knew it would be way too hard on me to do it.

tried breastfeeding it did not go well at all, my son was actually allergic to my milk, so he was bottlefed exclusively, we were both much happier this way anyway.

I tried to breastfeed my daighter exclusively but because she was having problems latching on at first my milk did not comein like it should. Because she was loosing too much weight and not getting enough breast milk I had to supplement with formula until I increased my milk production by taking herbs. After that it was smooth sailing. A wonderful experience. Great for the waistline as well.

I pumped for the first two weeks while Jackson was in the NICU. Then I was so beat with keeping up with that and going back and forth to the hospital so many times a day that we decided to switch to formula. He got the extra good stuff when he needed it most, but switching to formula saved everyone's sanity. :)

I mostly breastfed for the first 3 months...with some bottle feeding mixed in. I went back to work after 3 months so I wanted to be completely done before then. I wasn't into the pumping at work thing.

I nursed my three kids for different lengths of time. First one for 12 months, second for 15 months and third for 18 months. Each time we transitioned to a sippy cup, so we've never had a bottle in the house. With all of them but the last I had to struggle to get the on the cup.

I breastfed exclusively until 6 months then we weened to some formula and at 9 months I stop nursing completely. I work full time and was pumping at work for 6 months and it was time. She was ready to move on. It was a very smooth transition for both of us.

I said bottlefed exclusively, but I tried to breastfeed with all my heart. After the boy was born I had to be taken away for a medical procedure and he was given a bottle (also without permission). I will never know if that is what made the difference, but I tried to breastfeed him and he never wanted to latch on. Also, he has a lactose intolerance so he spit up my breastmilk and kept down soy formula from bottles. :( I tried my hardest for five weeks but he wasn't gaining weight and we were all very unhappy and stressed. I always felt very guilty for not being able to breastfeed my baby, but now he is a healthy, super smart almost five year old so I guess I did something right.

Breastfed my firstborn the short time we were lucky enough to have her. With my boys, we bottle fed. They were in NICU for their first few weeks, and they were given a bottle without permission. They wouldn't use anything else, and I didn't have enough to pump (got one ounce in one hour and they were eating 3 oz every 2 hours - I had/have little piggies).

I breastfeed my 1st and my last for 14 months, and I nursed my middle child until he was 10 months old, because I let a quack doctor talk me into believing that he wasn't getting enough nutrition through breastmilk, and that formula would be best for him. A second opinion convinced me otherwise. To each his own, but I loved nursing my children. *Thank you. My real name... is plain... Jane Jones. (Alice - Closer)

i haven't had the joy of bearing children yet (i'm 20) but my gyno says that since i'm prone to breast cancer (my mom and grandma died from breast cancer) it would be better to breast feed.

Both of my children were on breastmilk exclusively for the first 11 months of their lives. My daughter nursed from me directly and drank pumped milk out the bottle the whole son refused me after 3 months, and went to pumped milk out the bottle...
