Blake Lively is back to work on Gossip Girl, but on her Summer break she talked to Glamour UK about her diet and exercise routine. When discussing scenes that require little clothing, she said:
"I do panic before I have to wear a really skimpy outfit, but I don't have enough willpower. I had to do a scene in a bra and shorts for the first time in two years . . . On the day of the shoot, I ate a pork burrito, chips and coke. Afterwards, I thought, 'I probably shouldn't have done that.' But whatever . . . I have never worked out, but I know you feel better when you do, so I am planning on getting a trainer."
Her nonchalant attitude is refreshing, but she's lucky she looks so fantastic. So, tell us — do you like it when stars talk about their diets?
Yes I would like if they would tell the truth. I hate when super skinny girls say "I never have to work out, I eat a family size bag of cheeto's everyday!" but I like it when people talk about actual diets and actual workouts that work.
1i actually hate listening to it because sometimes i think that it's just them talking to make it sound like they are all health conscious rather than starving themselves or whatever.
2I like it when they are honest...I can't imagine that she NEVER works out, with her lovely figure that just seems improbable!
3Just wait until you are well into your 20's, Lively, and your body starts to change!
4I actually really like her figure and for some reason I actually believe her.
I do know that in 5- 10 years she will not be able get away with it!
5I like to know what they do/eat but I don't go away and do exactly what they say they do, I just get curious.
6This is just this bad actress/model showing off
7I don't like it -- unless they are honest. No one believes that you stand 5'9 and weigh 105 and eat whatever you want and don't workout. ...yes, that is true for SOME people, but definitely not everyone !
8Yes and no. Ye,s when you know what their saying is truth (ex: I eat poorly sometimes however I have to workout X's a week in order to stay in shape.) A big fat "no" when you hear them say things like Blake said; you eat pork borritos and never workout? I know some people truly can eat what they want and not gain weight however not every skinny celeb has that body gene.
9I think I believe her. She's not super thin, she's not super muscular, is fairly tall and is young. I think that she has good genes. I agree, though, that it will catch up with her eventually.
10I believe her because when I was younger (till 26-27) I was super thin (body shape like her) and I ate whatever I wanted and rarely worked out (now is a different story lol).....but I agree that others celebrities dont said the truth...
11Yes, when they're honest.
12Yes and No. I like to hear what they have to say about their diets when they have really great bodies and good tips to share. Their dedication can be inspiring. When they don't really do anything to maintain their bodies it's more like bragging.
13Yes, if it's the truth. Otherwise, just shut up.
14It's so unrealistic for her to talk about eating like that and looking the way that she does. This type of thing is what gives young girls such unachievable standards for their own bodies. It's simply the truth that eating an unhealthy diet will make you fat. Stars should tell the truth that the only way to be so fit and skinny is to eat hardly anything and exercise excessively.
15What people don't realize about the world of screen is that it doesn't matter if you can eat what ever you want, never exercise and never gain any weight. the thing is, they MAKE you. She is lying, because in that world you don't have a choice. They made girls sign contracts that they wouldn't cut there hair for chrissakes! The CW OWNS those people.
164evrfuzzy you are clueless.
if she spends all day filming, her lifestyle is active and she enjoys sports, instead of deliberate workouts. so yes she can be thin naturally. And if she's getting a trainer it wont catch up to her.
17The hollywood types are so obsessed with being skinny that she's refreshing.
I like it unless it's all they talk about. As for Blake, I believe her because she it's not rail thin. Plus, I'm sure she doesn't eat burritos everyday, she was just saying that she doesn't go on a diet just because she has to shoot a scene in a skimpy outfit. She probably eats fairly healthy most of the time...
18yeah yeah yeah "I eat pork burritos and chips all the time and never work out" - WHATEVER b*tch
19I don't mind - when they are HONEST. I'm not saying Blake isn't being honest, but I've noticed an awful lot of celebrities lately attributing their figure to "good genes."
20It's annoying to hear them say they do nothing, but she's 12 (yes, I know not really) and I didn't have to work for it either when I was her age. Mid-20's, however, watch out!
21Sure you eat burritos, chips and soda all day darling. Of course you do. Did she mention if she threw them up afterward? Call me in a few years cupcake, let's talk.
22I don't really care what celebrities do because they have completely different lifesyles than I do and what works for them probably isn't going to work for me because I can't afford a trainer or nutritionist nor can I maintain my figure by not working out. Everyone is different in what works for them anyway and I know what works for me. If she can eat pork burritos and drink cokes and not work out then lucky her!It doesnt change the fact that I can't do that and not gain a crap load of weight so I am not going to compare myself to her or any other celebrity.
23I do like hearing about celebrity diets, as long as they're honest! I do tend to think that she's telling the truth, because I know girls who are shaped like her and eat a lot, and if she enjoys sports (which I think I read that she does), than she's probably fine.
24I like to know that celebrities actually diet and exercise because it's good to know that they aren't just naturally like that and they do have to work to look the way they do, but I don't like it when they complain kinda like blake there, with the "I ate a burrito & chips" deal that's dumb, that stuff I would rather not hear because it's kinda ridiculous...nobody cares if you ate a burrito, that's the kind of talk wich leads to eating disorders it turns from "I ate a burrito, o no!" to "I consumed more than 100 calories today, o no!" So overall, yes I would like to hear about stars having to work for the condition of their body, but otherwise nahhh
25Yup, I would be way more interested if someone actually admitted they've not eaten a carb in five years and work out a couple of hours every day rather than seeing the ol' "oh I don't bother with what I eat or work out" thing. Heck, I'd rather see someone say they don't eat enough... honesty would be appreciated.
26OMG... She is superthin?! Are you kidding? She is quite plump! Especially hips. And she would better start to wokrout and keep on diet until it's not too late.
27No. I hate it. I wish they wouldn't talk about their diets at all. Who cares???
28#27: Blake is considered plump? What does that make me then???
29No, because it's so fake! Nobody in the biz just eats what they want, they all have professional chefs and personal trainers to make them look good. We could all be size two's if that's what we got paid for!
30I agree with RachLA. Most of them also get operations to loose weigh or have surgery to remove the fat.
31She didn't say she eats that way all day every day, she said she ate an unhealthy meal the same day she was to be posing in a skimpy outfit. Before such things like shoots and red-carpet events, many starlets would be starving themselves or going on crazy diets (and often do) to maintain a certain look. Stars shouldn't have to lie about healthy lifestyles they don't need, but they need to balance their "I never exercise and eat what I want when I want" with pushing the importance of regular exercise, being active, and healthy eating. When you're in the public eye and have young girls looking up to you in the way they tend to do, you should be much more careful about the statements you're making about body image. At the same time I wouldn't want to see a clearly unhealthy individual claiming they were living a healthy lifestyle when they subsist on caffeine, salads and cigarettes. She's young though and she'll probably grow to know the "right" things to say in interviews, many at that age tend to speak pretty carelessly and can have words taken out of proper context.
32I believe her. she probably plays a lot of sport. but she doesn't have that super toned tummy other celebs have.
33yes.
34Beckii, if that's your photo, you look like a girl I used to go to highschool with. Same name also.
Anyway, I run everyday, it's really the only way to maintain a fast metabolism and keep everything toned. I don't work, hah! so I guess I better be doing something right? But
yes, I miss being in my teens and not having to workout, eating McDonald's every day and not gaining a pound.
35I don't particularly care what celebs eat or how they exercise, but I hate it when they blatantly lie about never dieting or working out. Kate Winslett said recently that she hasn;t exercised since October, Cate Blanchett said that only recently she started going to Pilates (but only once a week) and Nicole Richie and Victoria Beckham claim to be naturally thin.
36The only problem with this is that the likes of Winslett, Richie and Beckham have been around for a while and I;m old enough to remember what they really looked like and they were all a lot chubbier up until a few years ago!
The only honest person I can think of is Jennifer Aniston who's always very upfront about how much working out she does and how she doesn't eat burgers and chips...
well, whatever Blake is doing, its working. i think she has a fantastic figure....not rail thin and not overly toned. hopefully she doesnt lose too much weight with the trainer, b/c i don't think she'll look right if she's super skinny!
37I like it when they talk about actual diets and workouts, it's interesting to see what they're trying...
38But it's uninteresting when they say things like "I've never worked out", and "I eat burritos, chips, and drink cokes". Boring! I don't care about her diet if it consists of saturated fat, and sugar. Gross.
Where's the "I don't care" option?
Every BODY is different, therefore what works for celebrities probably won't work for the "average woman" primarily because celebrities lie about their diet and exercise routines. Celebrities exist to sell an illusion, not to "help" us with our lives, especially not with our diets. If we could all look like that, what purpose would celebrities serve?
If you've ever seen a female celebrity in person, your most likely reaction was "Damn, she's a hell of a lot SMALLER than I thought she'd be." I'm a 5'5" athlete and weigh about 123#s. I run 3 miles 5 to 6 days a week, swim and bike occasionally. In Hollywood, I'm too big. I can't fit in a size 0 - I'd have to lose 20#s for that. And a woman at 5'5" tall shouldn't weigh 100#s or less - she'd be skeletal. Besides, they all work harder at that than they'll admit. Who wants to admit that part of production costs for them is going to be a physical trainer there just to combat the star's need to be at the service cart all the time?
39Oh, yeah, and Blake Lively is skating along on her 21 yr old metabolism. Put the pork burrito down, sister. Unless you ran or lifted that day.
40"Just wait until you are well into your 20's, Lively, and your body starts to change! " - YES YES YES.
When I was Blake's age, I ate WHATEVER I wanted, even in large portions, and it would go right through my system. Now, at 25, I have to watch everything I put in my mouth. I can gain weight just by looking at a cupcake. It sucks!
41I guess I should have added I never had to work out to lose extra weight up until this past year.
42she should stfu and stop talking with so much spit in her mouth...I can't even watch her speak
43she's lying. I've seen her at my pilates studio in NYC.
44they ALWAYS lie. their diet and excercise plans almost always include hardcore excercise and some sort of mild to severe eating disorder. bulimia is a popular one.
45#29
46Can't say anything about you, but Blake IMHO isn't in a good shape. Some day I saw her bikini shoot and I made sure in it once again.
Blake is beautiful!
